Every version of Aly's FX is just so exhausting to watch. Don't get me wrong she is an absolute queen and I adore her routine. She is an incredible gymnast and slays the floor every single time. But all those connections, phew, I literally get exhausted just watching her first pass.
@@fortheloveofcats2462 I agree. I would have loved to see them complete together, especially since they're both extremely powerful gymnasts who struggle with the same thing--keeping all of their power contained
Please make a video about the new Beam composition requirement #2 (turns/rolls). The FIG has a list of skills they suggest to fulfill the the New requirement (in addition to all of the existing turns). It would be great to see a video explaining each of the new skills that now can be used to fulfill the old 360 degree turn requirement.
Other than the misspelling of "value", I really enjoyed this trip down memory lane. I'd forgotten just how long these ladies have been around. Amazing!
These videos are so wonderful and obviously take a lot of time and effort. Thank you for sharing them with us. A quick question- I don’t quite understand what’s happening when you spice a clip from one routine into another. Are you adding in/replacing skills that were left out/missed/executed poorly? Not complaining, of course, just curious :)
Sorry for the reply they were poorly executed to the point where they get devalued or the gymnasts are just playing it safe and not doing the full difficultly
On 2022-2024 (or even since 2016) Shawn's full twisting double tuck wouldnt count since the round off double full is considered the dismount/last counting acro line (max 4 in chronological order)
It's hard to control the half twist out the jump from a tumbling pass like that. It's very unique, but not really worth it for the one-tenth bonus. That's probably the reason why you only saw her do it once, and moved her jump over to the Arabian Pike instead of doing the front tuck.
There are a few errors, including certain rules. In Ksenia’s floor routine, she does the Double L + Y Turn, which gets 0.0 CV only because she turn one direction to the other, in this this quad and in 22-24 i believe your turns have to go the same direction, like her Illusion to double turn where the double is in the same direction.
@@triplefull7057 eythora did double L + double turn in passé + memmel + illusion, all done continuously in the same direction. The cop does not allow for there to be interruptions between turns anymore so connection that pauses in between were only allowed in the 2013-2016 cop
8:12 Wang Yan's butt wiggle after her first pass is some of my all-time favorite choreo Also, Kristen Maloney's 2000 floor could also have made the list had she had a proper dance passage according to the modern COP. It would have been the oldest routine on the list
Shame how they continue to downgrade Simone Biles skills to enable others to beat her. This is why Simone has to keep adding harder skills that get downgraded. The judges love to take imaginary deductions. Guess it would be the same for De Jesus Dos Santos, Shilese Jones and Flavia Saraiva.
Eimard Gomes i think they put a split ring leap and a split ring jump (i think just on beam) in the same skill box so that you can only credit one during a routine, so you could still do both a switch ring and a ring jump in the same routine
Still hate to see how fractions of points make a difference on some of these ladies life's. Mykayla Skinner was more than qualified to be on the Rio Womens team rather than as an alternate. I think she should have received an honorary Gold from that team. She could have replaced anyone of the 5 on just about all routines and equalled or bettered The USA ladies scores. Especially on FX. So proud of her for her Tokyo Silver.
It’s called a competition for a reason... should’ve competed better than Grace that day. If it wasn’t for Simone’s withdrawal she wouldn’t even have been in vault finals lmao. Also her floor scores were consistently worse than many American women.
I don't think she could have replaced anyone on the team, especially not Aly, Simone, or Laurie but I agree that she could have done well. I don't think she would have helped as much on floor though since Simone and Aly were already power floor specialist and Mikayla has the difficulty but it won't be enough if she gets heavily deducted for form. The US team still did well regardless and they really needed a bars specialist more than floor/vault so that's most likely why they didn't pick her. At least she medaled in Tokyo
@@murasakino101 Yeah. That's the only 'negative' about the strength of the US women's gymnastics. Some are out. Jordan Weiber perfect example and she was on team.
And from this video you can tell how much less powerfull gymnasts are becoming around the world. No one but Carey and Biles passed the 6.0 bar this olympics...
This is a different code of points than was used for this past quad. Which, let the record show, the 2017-2021 quad had notoriously low D scores compared to the previous one.
Can't fully blame gymnasts for it with the constant code changes, the extra harsh deductions, and the pandemic that pushed a lot of gymnasts back since they couldn't go to gyms. Plus there's a lot of new gymnasts breaking out from countries that don't have a lot of gymnastics programs so we can't expect them to have the highest difficulty right away
There are new artistry requirements (related to variety of body movements, use of levels etc) to factor into choreography- most of the gymnasts in this video would have been hit but the new artistry deductions in the 2022-2024 cop. Actually probably all except Shawn J, Claudia F, and Simone Biles 2013 would have taken major artististry deductions. Also the technical committee became stricter about awarding difficulty for incomplete rotations with turning leaps and shapes in dance elements so gymnasts have either been discouraged from attempting higher valued skills or their skills just haven’t been credited.
How was that negative? He just stated the fact that she was out-of-bounds. He wouldn't be doing his job as a commentator if he didn't.. What should he have said?
@@garrettplaysgames23 No, his job is to comment and critique their performances. It wouldn't make sense for him to not make a comment. If a football player fumbles a ball, you think the commentators aren't going to mention it? You're just being way too sensitive.
@@carrietremble Dude it was 5 years ago. All I'm saying is that there were routines with competitive levels of tumbling 20 yrs. I would find exploring those more interesting.
@@matthewhines9787 im guessing they don’t have the difficulty to “be competitive” which is what the video is about. and 2016 is past, many skills have been downgraded and added to the CoP since then
