Yellowstone Coaches, Brougham, Rockaway, Portland Cutter, Trap; Restorations I've done in the past. A brief review in time at Engels Coach Shop. I operated many years before there was video so I have archives of photos of past projects, of which these are just a few.

Fantastic stuff. Narrating over the top of the photos is great.

Whoa, the first one is absolutely gorgeous. Liked this narration of old works, a bit sad some of them didn't come now, so we could see them in more detail, but eh, what can you do. As always, stunning work and attention to detail.

Very good work. Craftsman and artist! I have kept pictures of brick work my son and I have done. We show them off every now and then just to prove dirty old bricklayers can be artistic. Meticulous arrangers of artistic burnt clay products! Greg

Not many craftsman can display a portfolio like this one. Beautiful work! I am amazed by your knowledge of all of the trades that need to be employed to make these transformations. Thanks again for letting us be a part of this magnificent craftsmanship.

I’ve just discovered your videos and have to say I’m in total awe of your craftsmanship. You can turn your hand to anything it seems - a true jack of all trades rather than the so called ‘specialists’ prevalent today. Some truly marvellous restorations with exacting attention to the finished quality of the job. As my Dad used to say, “if a job’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well”. Botched repairs previously done and hidden are so common in today’s market, it’s really refreshing to watch a real craftsman at work. Thanks so much for your weekly video instalments. They’re looked forward to with great anticipation. I hope you continue to bring such delights to your You Tube viewers. Wonderfully enjoyed!

First of all, I can't believe there are only 125 comments!. and the fact that I have not found this video before now. Once again your workmanship is impeccable, and untouchable. My two favorite craftsmen to watch are you , and Thomas Johnson furniture restoration expert. in Maine. you both exhibit true quality craftsmanship. and its obvious you both love your trades, and except nothing but the best quality of work. Thank you for all the time you take to do the work. in the first place. and even better yet the time and editing to show us what it is that you love and do. God Speed.and thanks for sharing.

The older I get, the more I realize that the pride and craftsmanship that you hold dear to will soon be a faded memory... What with the inception of 3-D printers and the "I want it now" attitude of these younger generations, true artful craftsmanship will soon go the way of all great things... A thousand years from now some archeologist will stumble upon some of your artistic endeavors and they will scratch their collective heads and wonder just how that ancient carriage was created without the use of modern day technology... I am Blessed to have seen you do what you do so very well!

Very interesting, Dave, thanks for posting. Didn't mind it not being a live post at all, if you feel like doing more like this. And I know not everyone is into seeing the upholstery work, but as a crucial part of what you do, I wouldn't mind seeing a little more. The diamond tuck and roll looked amazing.

Have you ever thought of doing a video describing how carriage and wagon part and style names carried over into automobiles? While some part names and styles remained somewhat constant, others sort of morphed over time. As an example the "dashboard" on a wagon or carriage I believe was the board that protected occupants from being hit by the horse's hooves while traveling, while in an automobile it's the part that contains the instrument cluster, glove box, radio, etc. Same name but slightly different location and purpose.

I would be interested in a discussion of your bid and contract process. In the case of hidden damage, is that pre-approved, or do you call the owner to find whether they want it fixed or left alone, or do you bid high and perhaps refund for anticipated repairs which were actually not required?

That was a real treat...thanks. I’ve not seen American wagons like these before and the style and models were great to see. I never dreamt they would be upholstered like that either. Perhaps you could make a suit for me! I really liked the idea of using an iron before for small jobs. I’ve never done steam bending before, but I’m going to see if I can use this method on inlay banding. I doubt it will work because of all the different woods in it, but you never know. I’ll tell you how it pans out!

It is always a treat to see some other projects you have done. Maybe you could do this more often, if you have the materials to do so. Watching these jobs, I can only think how the owners reacted when your "small repair and repaint" turned into, shall we say, much more than anticipated. Each one of these are true works of art blending history and artistry together to make masterpieces. Keep the great stuff coming!

Thank you , I am not certain but in the photos of the one we will seeing locally it appears there are only windows for the passenger and not in the door or front. Bargaining tool if they are missing. We just want one for the front yard of our Historic house. Making it a living museum. Thank you for responding so quickly :) They are asking 4500 and from what we see it looks to be in very good shape otherwise.

I wonder how the guy that left rework undone for you to find when asked to paint and upholster handles the revelation that he didn't complete his task on the Rock-A-Way ? I myself was asked by my bosses to go behind guys that left things undone or incorrect and fix them. There was never too much said about it but I remember many times admitting to my own mistakes and trying to learn from the guy that came behind me. I was mostly embarrassed and humbled but lots of guys don't really feel that way :( :) Nice video and great craftsmanship. Thanks for sharing again :)Sincerely .................
