Couldn't agree more on puzzle ! Currently working on producing some hets with confusion leo pastel and fire. I dont really like the pastel monsoon either but with leo its really nice so I just think people jumped the gun seeing pastel monsoon and theres probably lots of combos that will work well with it time will tell, I cant wait to see Enhancer and DG with it.
couldnt agree more my friend! To this day, i think a pastel leopard clown is one of my absolute favorite snakes. i remember the first time i ever saw one i was blown away.
The quality of the Pastel is important. I like Pastel in Pied, DG, and Hypo combos. I do not like Pastel in Sunset. The first snake to get me into the hobby was the Bumblebee, but when I found out they lost that bright color, I was so disappointed. Another reason I don't like Pastel in a lot of combos is that it washes out the headstamp. Love headstamp patterns.
@@kcsroyalpythons8249 the headstamp is a rough one. I am not a fan of the faded head look the fiancé calls them bald haha. I don’t necessarily mind it in sunset but it’s not the most ideal. Bumblebees were so impressive. Def a shame they loose that contrast in color
The pastel clown pied girl we bought from you is my favorite snake. She has such a unique look. But then we have another girl who would be an absolute show stopper if she didn’t have pastel.
Mixing the darker genetics in there will totally bring back some of that contrast or even taking a dark crypton combo to her would really give a unique look!
I can agree there sometimes it is a necessary thing but keeping it in the girls ensures its not being spread throughout the collection at a higher rate
I think part of the hate for pastel comes from the fact that so many breeders go into projects with the attitude that they can just breed out the pastels and keep everything else. That floods the market with pastel combinations that other breeders don’t necessarily want and in turn, they take the same approach, breeding out the pastel. The cycle just keeps going. I think, and this is just my opinion, that this is why pastel actually hurts prices and why so many people are haters. I can’t help but thinking that anytime someone says “You NEED pastel with ______.” you can just insert “black” in front of “pastel” and that would also be a valid statement. It just depends on where you’re trying to go. Everyone seems to want pastel in axanthic but I think black pastel looks way better and there aren’t tons of them out there, so it makes it more desirable. Another argument I will make is that to new breeders, ALL the genes are new. Lesser, bamboo, pinstripe, etc., all look amazing in certain combos or by themselves when you’re just starting out, and I would argue that if any of those mutations were just discovered, most everyone would be trying to get their hands on them. People say pastel browns out but I don’t think that’s the only reason for all the hate. The skinhead look is what I personally don’t like about pastel. You mentioned that there are combos like black head pastel that look great. That’s a great example where the skinhead isn’t present. I like pastel in combinations that remove that head stamp. Those are just my thoughts. Sorry for the 10 page essay.
@@IsaacTheRedBeard I do agree that it could definitely pose a problem if people are basically breeding the pastel and then keeping the half that do not have pastel to put out into the market, creating a much higher number of pastel animals otherwise. Black pastel is also a great option. The issue with that is the super is a blank animal with known issues. So for that, I would actually prefer to use blackhead over black pastel. The blackhead super is a very cool animal and I had shown a super with pastel in this video. That last part is funny about them being skinhead look. My fiancé calls them bald. And I do agree that does take away a little bit of the look for me as well because I really like the head pattern and it’s a little unfortunate that pastel tweaks it and just about everything. No worries about the essay. I appreciate the well-thought-out comment.
I think it gets a bad rap and is found in pretty much everything… I think working it in a smart way in the projects it works best with and not making supers is ideal
I wonder if they kept the Jungle part of the name and dropped Pastel instead if it would get less hate lol I like their green eyes - has anyone made note of how the gene affects eye color in other morphs?
eh wouldnt have helped much jungle doesnt necessarily describe what it does where as pastel to a degree does with changing of the colors. That is something I forgot to mention as the eye color is something really cool on pastel animals you dont typically see with other ball pythons mutations!
