Many people are terrified for that thought of death, the idea of ceasing to exist, but also many others love that thought, because it would mean there will not be punishment for them after death and they are free to live as they like. “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” Hebrews 9:27. It takes much more courage to live knowing there is a God. For God is absolute, his judgment is severe, and He knows everything and He knows our hearts. Whereas if we live for ourselves and men there is a lot of wiggle room. We are free to live by our definition or the society’s definition of right and wrong, which is subjective. And if we disagree with a law we can do it anyways and avoid punishment as long as we don’t get caught. People are brought to their knees when they realize they are a sinner and their punishment which is hell. However through the love of Jesus and him dying on the cross as a propitiation for all of our sins, we are saved from the condemnation of sin, the wrath of God, and are able to stand back up again and live for him.

Thanks Dylan, I'm a big fan of reason, (according to the scriptures). What you have found in this article is straight up Calvinism. I have heard James White say these exact same things. What most synergist reject in reform doctrine is how one is 'saved', Calvinists believe only God saves. God chooses who will be saved and who will not. He supplies everything necessary including 'faith'. Romans 9:16 "So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy." Somehow Arminians are of the opinion that they have willed themselves to believe. Exactly how God does this is His domain, but that He does is revealed in scripture. I think the hard part for Arminians is believing their whole lives that God loves everyone, and wants everyone to be saved, and then having a Calvinist tell them He doesn't. To me, these are 2 different Gods. I mean we can go down the 'old checklist' trinity? yes, creator of all things? yes, Spirit, yes, all the omnis? yes, good? yes, hates evil? yes, truth? yes, Jesus is God and the only savior? yes, loves every man, woman, and child and wants them all to be saved? NO. Do we really worship the same God? "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" Amos 3:3. This is why we attend different assemblies. I don't know why God chose some and not others for salvation, but the bible says He did.
