Especially ironic since Disney, fueled by Saudi money, owns 80% of ESPN. So ESPN has absolutely zero place to talk about the morals of LIV's finances.

The dreaded media blame game again, never gets old for so many. The media isn’t telling people to hate golfers that take the Saudi money they are merely telling you that they are. The viewers then add their feelings about it. Show me one mainstream media story that TELLS you to hate these golfers or says they shouldn’t be doing it. They may ask the question, which is valid but they are not telling viewers how THEY should feel about it.

I mean, c'mon, that's a pretty disingenuous way of framing the issue. Major news networks don't have to come right out and say it directly. They just make vague insinuations and leave out important context so that otherwise uninformed readers all reach the same conclusion. They'll run flattering story after flattering story talking about how Rory McIlroy bravely stood up and spoke out on the "hypocritical" golfers who left for LIV while describing Phil Mickelson and Greg Norman as "hamfisted" and "tone-deaf" when explaining themselves and their decision making. Then they run basically the same story but with Tiger taking a shot. And again with Billy Horschel, etc. They'll flavor the story with adjectives to set a tone of approval and disapproval as needed. They'll make references to Saudi Arabian investment being "dirty" by mentioning things like the Khashoggi murder and human rights violations, but not mention that America started a war over non-existent WMDs, tortured and indefinitely detained innocent people without trial and killed hundreds of innocent foreign nationals with drone strikes. They'll never explore the question of whether or not American investment is "dirty". It's assumed to not be (and suggesting otherwise might turn off the audience they're trying to influence). So it's not a balanced conversation. And as Pat pointed out, they conveniently omit all the ways in which Saudi Public Investment Fund already influences the PGA itself and its sponsors. Why not cover those details? Why is it only talked about on this program? Mainstream news doesn't have to tell viewers or readers what to think and how to feel. But they expose their bias through the details they choose to mention and the ones they leave out. It's like when your girl says she's over a friend's house and she "forgets" to mention her friend is a guy. It's lying by omission and I think you know better than to pretend like you don't see how this has caused major media sources to lose credibility.

As many have said here before, companies such as Twitter don’t have a choice of who invests in them when they’re a publicly traded company. Individuals have a choice of who they can sign contracts like this with. They aren’t comparable.

I think it’s silly to act as if since Twitter did something that we can’t criticize others for doing the same. I don’t think anyone that disagrees with Pat would say that Twitter taking money from SA is cool but it’s not for golfers to do the same.

Twitch streamers have been recruited by SA in a similar capacity and they have turned down the money. Some things are bigger than a check. And in what way am I being duped by the media? The only capacity in which I have been hearing about this is from Twitch streamers and Pat… no media at all.

I’m confused how it’s hypocrisy a public company cant deny investment into stocks the difference is the the golfer is literally taking money to try and make people forget about 9/11 and all the starving kids in Yemen

This is a sports show and Pat McAfee is a former pro athlete. There has been article after article praising golfers for badmouthing the ones who joined LIV while criticizing guys like Greg Norman and Phil Mickelson. Athletes (and celebrities in general) are the mouth piece media uses to convey their messaging. Pat is able to speak on this double standard because he exists on an independent platform. So how is this *not* about what athletes choose to speak about??

I think they've done at least 2 shows since Pat signed full-time and I believe they've left him stateside each time. Sometimes, talent aren't invited (Aleister Black couldn't go because of religious tattoos, Sami isn't allowed because of his Syrian background), some talent boycott (Daniel Bryan wouldn't go because of their practices, KO boycotts because Sami isn't allowed to go, Noam Dar boycotts due to Jewish background) so I'm not sure if Pat wasn't invited or if he had prior engagements. I also know Pat has said he typically flies himself to shows and has lost money some weeks on his WWE appearances so maybe he would've had to fly himself and he said to hell with that and wouldn't go.
