Hooked up to my 3 pt tiller this morning in 1 minute, used it then switched to rear forks in like 2 minutes flat. I have had zero issues with these in over 7 years of using them. I have a link in the video notes, but now you can pick your color to match your rig

Tip. Skip the spreader bar. Bungie cord across to pull together turnbuckle to pull apart. Gives enough play to hook up to a lot of implements with no adjustment. On my heaviest implements I was able to move the pins back a few inches on the tiller by drilling a couple holes

I think he is a great person but this hitch needs improvement that said it seems to work till the bolts break or bend if maybe it could have a wedge between it and the tractor hitch itself would take some presure of the bolts

Great video!! Just what I needed to know long term use. I don't have a problem on three point lift have a 1626 mahindra it'll lift over 2000 lb. I've had 2 different quick hitches that would only hook up to 1 implement my 2017 box blade all the rest are older implements not quick hitch compatible. The Pat's will be my next purchase. Thanks for sharing be safe have fun enjoy ya'lls family and homestead

I appreciate your honesty. I have not have the same experience. Many problems with pats hitch. They are unstable side to side. They break and lose the spring and locking clip often. I have replaced them 3x. I would say a better investment would be a full attach quick hitch.

Look up the European style for these quick hitches. Instead of bolting them onto your existing 3-point, you cut the ends of your lifting arms off and weld on the new hitches instead. Means your lifting arms stay the same length and same lifting capacity, plus you don't have to extend your top link or your PTO shafts. You also don't get any bolts or other bits sticking out for things to get caught in. The biggest difference outside of that is that the hooks themselves are kinda "bowl shaped", and then you get balls that you spread out on your machinery. This means that you still have the benefits of the "ball" type connections that you get on a normal 3-point, with the drawback that you then have to buy these "balls" for all your implements or go around changing them over every time you want to change implements.

Duke Rider Thank you for the kind comment, I highly recommend this purchase keeping in mind that 4 inch extension which affects lift and pto length. Those have been my only issues. Oh yes, remove the spreader bar after hookup. The pto will bend it! Happy Tractoring!

For some implements, you might need a longer top link. These are available at most tractor stores, like TSC. I needed longer link for setting the rear blade back far enough to sit on the shoes for plowing snow on our gravel drive/road. It's also used for the box blade. You don't want to use a top link at the limit of its length, which can be quite dangerous.

I have two pairs of these hitches and overall very pleased but they do have limitations. I recently bought a pto woodchipper and the hitch is too tall to hook on so reluctantly I had to angle grind quite a lot of metal off my new chipper to get it to hook on.

Others guys I met and dealer told me, you lose about 5-7% of lifting capacity, when using pats. For me that's okay. But I live in Germany, we have our own quickcouplers from a company, called Waltherscheid. So I cut my eye arms out. And welded the new quickcoupler in.

So, I know this video was posted back in 2017, but that was the year I bought my second set of pats hitches. I've got three years on my second set and I have a bit to add to this review. The first set I bought was back in 2013, and they were their "First" design. They were fabricated back then instead of cast. Functionally, there is essentially no difference save 1. On the original set, the L bracket that holds the latch lever open was made out of a springy metal. The cut in that L was such that you had to tug upwards lightly enough to get the notch to go over the top of the latch lever. Releasing the pressure would allow the notch to drop down over the latch lever and lock it into place. This design worked flawlessly and I never had a moment issue. On the second set I bought in 2017 (They look exactly like the ones in this video), they changed that L bracket such that the notch doesn't come anywhere near latching on to the latch lever. there is a full quarter of an inch between the top of the closed latch lever and that little tip that would (Should) lock onto the latch lever. If I don't take the time to tie the L brackets in place over the latch level using wire, the L bracket swings open (it's very loose). Inevitably when I am pulling a brush hog or a back blade, the implement pin gets released from the pats hitch. This is a major crap fest every time. Have you ever tried to muck a brush hog around in the field and try to get it back into the hitch? It's not fun. I sorta just lived with it since 2017, but I'm buying a new tractor now and I want to move my set to the new one. I got a bit of a burr in my hind end today and decided to call Pat Greenwell in Kentucky (the guy that makes these in his home) and see if he could send me a proper set of L brackets. After all, I always assumed this was just a manufacturing defect. Stuff happens right? But to my surprise, I was told by "Vicky" that this is not a bug, its a feature. Or more to the point, she said that that L bracket was never intended as a lock on the latch lever. She was happy to send me out new L brackets, but that's just the way they are designed. Now, with a bit of Yankee engineering and a MIG welder, I can permanently fix this issue. That's not really my complaint (such as there is one at all). It just seems daft to me that the original design worked flawlessly, and now I'm being told that although yes the original did operate that way, that it was never the intention. Vicky tells me these new ones operate the way they intended them too. Now that's all well and fine, but Vicky if you ever see this,,,, Unintended or not, the first design of the L Bracket was WAYYYYYYYYYYY better. With all that said, and with the exception of this one FLAW in my opinion, I would not be caught dead without my Pats Hitches. And although you do lose some lift capacity, it has never been an issue for me. There isn't an implement made for my tractors 3pt hitch that I can't lift just fine. I had to buy a longer Top link at Tractor supply for all 3 tractors. And when I ordered my hydraulic top link from Fit Rite Hydraulics, they had to make the cylinder longer to compensate. But other than that, they have worked exceptionally well.
@YoungbloodFamilyFarm

Stan Juan very interesting, I’ve always noticed those L brackets just spinning around, never thought that was design. Issues or not, these hitches have better my life

I currently have Pat's Easy Change system too, which is nice, but I still have to hook up the top link. I'm considering a Quick Hitch. Problem is there is a lot of different definitions of "Quick Hitch Compatible" and the pin spacing and top link height vary quite a bit among "Quick Hitch Compatible" attachment makers. Even the dimensions of the quick hitches themselves vary between brands.
@YoungbloodFamilyFarm
@YoungbloodFamilyFarm 5 лет назад
Yes, this was why I went with the Pat’s system. I had several Cat 1 size implements, most of which were different widths. There does not seem to be a standard there. I am happy with this style even though I have to do a bit of adjusting, I do not have to muscle implements, and this is good

@Fabes002
@Fabes002 5 лет назад
So basicly, you still do a lot of on and off climbing to hook up?? I get it if you have a REALLY heavy implement but most can wiggle a bush hog or blade to get it on. I'll look into the full quick hitch.
@YoungbloodFamilyFarm
@YoungbloodFamilyFarm 5 лет назад
Farmer good thoughts, I had the same ones and wanted a full quick hitch, however not all my attachments were “quick hitch” compatible. Several were also different widths at the points. Honestly, as I age I am able to wiggle implements less and less, this works for me, hope you find what works for you.

@LedgemereHeritageFarm

Me neither. They’re absolutely garbage. The spreader bar gets in the way of the PTO, you need a longer top link, they get loose and flop around or the u bolt snaps off. I’ve never not had it lose the washer and spring pin with all the side to side slop. Losing your bush hog off one side is not a fun experience and it’s generally a repeat performance. I wouldn’t recommend this worthless junk to anyone. Either buy a quick hitch or get adjustable drag links, but this thing belongs in the dump

My friend has them on her kubota. She likes them. I dont but im used to my 1957 JD 520 with cat 2 3pt. My lift arms i can pull a pin up and they telescope out and that top link is a quick tach ball so i dont have to be dead on to slide the pin thru. Very handy. I have cat 1 spaced sway blocks which is very nice and when using the 3 bottom plow sway blocks are not used but i dont have to take mine off since the plow is cat 2. I borrowed her tractor last month to use her 3pt backhoe and i had to take them off since the backhoe has a rigid toplink bar that braces off the lift pins so you cant raise or lower the 3pt and i think the lifting action when digging would exert force how these arent designed to handle (ie the latches)
