Breguet all day. They have a unique history and design and real craftmanship. The Patek is a rich kid flex piece and will fall off trend like it already was 10 years ago.
Design-wise, the Nautalis is king between the two, but charmed by the Breguet's looks on the wrist - it's a handsome watch I'd buy and be proud to wear.
Great review Tim. The flag at the end of the seconds hand is the nautical flag letter B for Breguet. The movement plates are also cut on the rose engine for the deck look.
Yea, I think what you're saying makes sense and would probably agree. It makes me think that the Breguet vs Patek comparisons seem appropraite. Maybe a more expensive comparison the new white goal nautilus vs the white gold/blue dialed marine, or the previous generation blue dialed 5711 vs the blue dialed 5817 big date?
@@DirtFather407The Patek Nautilus has a recognizable design but it does not necessarily mean that it looks “better”. I’d argue that most people outside of watch circles would likely prefer the Breguet one just because it looks more like a classic round watch.
The nautilus for sure and that has nothing to do with hype for me. It's simply a vastly superior design and at the end of the day no amount of finishing or haute horology is going to make up for design.
My nautilus was literally the worst purchase Ive made. Immense letdown and something of a tease. Im not impressed by PP anymore and regret spending so much to be allowed to buy something so average. Im fascinated by the Breguet. Had no idea it was titanium and it makes me want one. Ive never given them much thought. Visited a Tourbillon recently while in Montreux and didnt even look at them…. I feel like I need to branch out of my comfort zone. I love my Swatches - Omega and Blancpain - so maybe the Breguet will be familiar but novel too. Thanks
Comparing a 15k watch vs a 300k watch is pretty silly, without a doubt Breguet wins all day due to the value proposition given the watch quality between the two aren’t that far apart, it isn’t like Breguet is an invicta quality watch, it’s all hand finished and uncompromising quality, that stands toe to toe with Patek minus the bullst waitlist / background check to buy one, and cost 20 times less..
I used to be a nautilus “hater” before I put a 5713 on and it changed my perspective. It is a undisputed icon! The breguet is incredible value and in this comparison the breguet is way better value compared to the insane $300k for the green 5711.
130m water resistance from the Patek eh? Wouldn't want to be testing that after recent silliness from Patek. The nautilus is essentially now a dress watch playing make believe. Breguet takes the win here by default.
Put it up against the old big date Marine and it would make it an even harder choice for me. I have to go green here, its a legend, its an icon and its certainly a peer of the Breguet, which I have to say I would LOVE to own on its own. You can't go wrong with either of these but I have a weakness for that shade of green. The only thing about the Breguet that puts me off is the end link/ first link and how its connected.. It just doesn't look cohesive. Still, minor complaint.
The classic comment from someone with limited means who voices an opinion on the value of this watch or that watch based on their own assets and purchasing capacity. Now step back and think about the actual targeted 1916 clientele (hint, it's not you). Someone who has, for example, access to FP Journe's Black label collection because of their purchase history. They are not watching this video thinking I will make my decision based on needing to save money on a watch because I need the remaining money for something else. I am rich, and I can buy whatever I want and when. So how about you just step back and enjoy Tim's excellent presentation skills (that you are getting for free) and not write one of the most typical cliched responses from the middle class (that has to always compromise when making serious money related decisions) to a VS episode that involves an acknowledged heavy hitter. Deal?
@@davidr2802Someone is mad that one guy on the Internet does not care about his favorite watch brand 😅. Loving watches has little to do with money. There are plenty of millionaires who could buy a Patek but still love watches enough to walk around with a $50 G-Shock.
@@davidr2802Tim compared this two watches and ask which one do you prefer (viewer) and i answers it. if its 300k vs 295k watch then and im not really talking about money. but 300k vs 13k. then 13k seens really a good value for the same category of watches. money is still money. be humble a little bit,its not gonna hurt you.
@@NaturalBornWinner- You can call it underrated, but there's a reason you can purchase a Breguet for less than a Submariner. Breguet as a company has fallen from grace. They haven't tried innovating or changing a single thing in their catalog in who knows how long. They have more history than all other watch brands in the world combined, and they refuse to use it. There are now tons of brands in their segment that make watches of equal quality and finishing with brand cachet to back it up.
The Breguet is the nicer watch regardless of price considerations. Entirely subjective of course but I cannot understand how it is possible to like the Nautilus.
