I started WotR some time ago but stopped near the end of Act IV to wait for the two last DLCs of the season pass 2. Picked it back up recently and I had no idea the blood rain of my demonic Drezen was newly added but wow I love it soooo much. It looks absolutely stunning and is so so so fitting for the Mythic Path.
DEMON COMMANDER: "So Camellia? You said your spirits needed blood to heal the land. Is this enough blood for you?" CAMELLIA: (Licks her lips) DEMON COMMANDER: "Uh... Are you okay?"
It is honestly incredible how they continue to update after they said that they were finished. I am seriously considering buying Warhammer Rogue Trader just to support them now.
@@johanlassen6448 Rogue Trader is a great game. Took some time to learn the system but it's not quite as complex as Pathfinder, didn't take me nearly as long to wrap my head around. And it's considerably shorter, I think I did 2 full playthroughs and 1 partial in the span of a couple months. (WOTR takes me a couple months to do 1 😅)
I messed up on my Demon character. The Sword of Valor isn’t there, and I was so disappointed. I will be way more mindful about protecting it on my Angel character. Overall, the Gold Dragon and a Demon are my two favorites.
I prefer those here that are a bit less far-fetched (Azata, Devil, etc.) ; and by that I mean the Aeon seems too much as does the blood/demon one. IMO.
@@Syaniiti yeah zachy boy really ends up being a bad influenece, but i plan on leaning into the vampire bit more and at least trying to not kill everyone on sight. I know he won't be happy but he can cry about it.
I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of video cards suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.
This is why Owlcat is the best in the CRPG game at the moment. It's clear they aren't just grabbing a paycheck, they actually put a lot of heart into their work (dare I say, their art). Unlike some other studios that will say "we care so much" then it's "Pre-order for this, in-game store that, live service FTW!" and let's not forget the real world politics icing the cake! Sure day 1 is a buggy mess, but day 1,000 is a beautifully crafted experience that rivals the legendary experiences of old. They aren't predatory, they aren't preaching, and they support their products long after anyone in the current day would have expected them to. Owlcat has earned my respect.
There are very few game companies I will buy new releases from, much less a season pass. I'm more of a 'wait 4 years and buy it during a steam sale' kind of man. But Owlcat has always proven to be worth the money. They did NOT have to do this patch, the 2 new classes, or even the last DLC... but they did. In a world where you get constantly asked for microtransactions and paid extras it's nice to have companies like Owlcat that overdeliver. Imagine if this was an Activision game, and every month another archetype went on the store for $5.99...
Yeah, it feels real in a way the otphers don't. It's present and feels powerful. All the others are cool, but there's a more present feel with the simple shadows of the dragons.
Why would anyone model their character after someone as incompetent as that? Sure it's a single player game and you can be as incompetent as you want (whereas tabletop likes "competent but flawed.")
@@Syaniiti Sardaukar were extremely competent. Outside of the strangely over-competent Fremen they were the best fighters in the galaxy. The movie just used them for the Worf effect. In the books though they were only really beaten by Fremen guerilla tactics and Swordmasters. Now though, your comment is making me want to play as an Honored Matres.
@@henrychurch6062 The Problem is the Sardaukar the in the movie were meant to be undercover, they actually said that "no one must know" in the film, while still wearing the Sardaukar uniform. I would call trying to perform an undercover operation in full uniform incompetent. And nowhere in the novels did it say the Sardaukar were dressed in the livery of the Sardaukar when doing the assault (they were dressed in the livery of the Harkonnen if I remember correctly), if they were wearing the livery of the Sardaukar while assaulting Arrakis the revelation of them being Sardaukar could only come from Captain Obvious - and I'd rather not say that the path of Paul or Leto II was obvious. PS. Honoured Matre character could be interesting to play/witness being played (I've never played Malk because I couldn't do it well enough to do them justice, I feel like an Honoured Matre would fall into that same category). PPS. While The Fremen holy war is basically a passing moment in the grand scheme of things, the competency of the Fremen is never questioned. Their numbers are greatly underestimated and they are insulted in many ways by major characters, there is nothing in the film or the books that makes me doubt they are major force.
Yoooooo, these Swords of Valor look outstanding. I especially dig the Aeon and Tricksters. Owlcat is definitely winning browie points with me. Yeah, their games are kinda buggy to start, but they keep plugging away until it's awesome.
I can't be evil in Planescape: Torment and it's starting to look like being evil in Wrath is also out of the question now. Dangit... I liked the powers of my EK lich->swarm and my Kineticist Demon but the cost is too much.
You don't miss it so much as lose it in Act 5. You'll regain it at the beginning of Act 6. Keeping Hulrun alive or killing both Hulrun and Ramien allows you to keep it.
@@SlanderedGaming Does this mean you can still get the Secret Ending even if you kill Hulrun? I thought from the guide he had to live, would love if I could go back to killing him without consequence xD
It blows my mind to see Owlcat support this game 3+ years after its release and it's not like this is just restricted to paid DLC. A ton of patches, free upgrades, etc has made this game (and Owlcat) very close to my heart. These effects look amazing.
never apologize for killing hulrun... but perhaps you should do it after you let him kill ramiren (you can achieve it by ignoring both of them till tavern defense). if both is dead in act 1, chun dawei will show up in their place... he also protects the flag but actualy not a nutjob and pretty cool character on top
So you missed the wall confessions in the Ivory Sanctum, and Ineluctable labyrinth? The ones where it said every prelate except Hulrun was a demon cultist who did human sacrifice? And that Hulrun's first action was to root them out? I've never understood the hate for Hulrun, the story proves him completely right. Everyone who dislikes Hulrun just played Azata as their first playthrough.
@@acrab6527 first of all, you are imagining stuff about ivory sanctum. walls have the confessions of once pious paladins and crusaders. none of which are specifically stated to be prelates, let alone prelates of kenabres. second, its impossible, as hulrun somehow ancient as dirt. and at the helm since before the second crusade. which baphomet joins the fray AFTER. because worldwound expands and gets connected to his realm afterwards. also its extremly ironic you insunate those who dislike this POS are being emotional while being fan girls to a man that literally have paranoid schizophrenia. hulrun fans are more or less cut from same cloth as azata first timers. in fact... azata first timers are often more tolerable. at least they just downvote and move on... hulrun worshippers debate reality...
@@sethrougen8968 Literally the first room of the Ivory Sanctum: "I was the prelate of Kenabres, I decided who would be burned and who would be tortured until I was caught and fled. It was always the innocent" Hulrun got put in charge after the Red Morning massacre, half way through the fourth crusade. How is a 50 year old guy not having retired yet, impossible? You are being emotional. You cursed and screamed through this entire post, despite being wrong on every count. Name 3 times Hulrun was wrong. Go ahead. He's right 100% of the time. The ONE time he's wrong, is assuming a single lilitu wouldn't be able to overpower a full god, a completely rational thing to assume. And literally the FIRST TIME anyone brings him any evidence, he accepts it, and lets the Storyteller examine the wardstones.
@@acrab6527 I cursed and screamed? Now you are hearing voices while reading? Oh the delicious irony. Or perhaps you take your role playing very serious, in that case, hats off to you! I know ivory sanctum has placetes like that yes. I am unable to check your claim right now as i dont have any save. And i dont remember that particular one. But even if i accept it no quesstion asked, thats confession of a one prelate. Which your claim was "The ones where it said **every** prelate except Hulrun was a demon cultist who did human sacrifice?" how emotional, and prone to exagerrate. facts are just pesky details that prevent you from raging, arent they? how very azata like. Also, in the AP he gets promoted to prelate after the third crusade. In the game, its much more confusing, example, Hulrun claims he was THERE when red morning massacre happened. Which happens at 4607. Though, i shall grant it, its possible it might be some localization issue. Name three thing he did wrong? Very easy; * He dismissed Storyteller when he was right * He dismissed Ramiren when he was right * He burned a child at stake. And potential crusader. But your ilk like to roleplay that as a justifyable thing. I mean hulrun fangirls justifies burning a girl on a stake. Maybe the fact despite that i am, or anyone for that matter engages with this... whatever this is... is an L on its own. * From the accounts of several quite reliable and level headed people; including Liotr, Berenguer, Chun, previous point wasnt only one time thing either and he burned, tortured and persecuted many innocents. And dont come to me with "he was just stressed, he was guarding against demons meh meh meh", you asked the things he did wrong. i am giving it to you. * He guards a fucking hole in the ground as city burns... As city's leader, if i might add. * He uses his inquisitors to chase after desnans when city burns and demons are everywhere. Again... as city's leader. No matter what you think who did what, his job was to secure survivors, put out fires, rescue people and kill roaming demons. Thats his station requires at that point. Another fail. * Falsely persecutes and harassess Desnans, again i am not saying it, his coleauge whom he has complate trust, Liotr Hawkblade, says it. * Fails to notice Architect of the Worldwound standing next to him. And yes... it very understandble. If he didnt also claimed he can *smell* demonic corruption from yards away to brag. So I suppose he is wrong about that as well. * He was wrong about Arueshalea. He calls Ramiren's source "its demonic trickery". He is right about the source of info being demonic. He is wrong about being trickery, as the said demon literally chosen by Desna and have her blessing. Not to mention her warning was l i t e r a l l y... true. So even at its best, he is still only half right... and half wrong. * He fails at finding out the Other or anything suspicious at all when he personally investigates Daeren's Case And these are from top of my head. What did this man do right, again? Ah... yes, pointed everyone and everything and said "demons!" Sometimes he was right, because there was an active demon invasion going on... Good job. You are free to write an answer while role play like a derenged madman, as your idol, if you wish and try to *correct* me about the points i brought with your twisted point of view. I heard every single argument that came out of your ilk, really. None of which failed to produce a groan. And i am through my quota. So... dont expect more answers. But then again, you might like that better. Oh, one final note... I always thought Hulrunists are trolls. If thats really true at least in this instance, it means you made me write this much on a youtube comment. Which, i can only say; well played... you got me.
So, Halrun is who I have to spare to keep the sword? I didn't know that. I thought the Queen always took it. And yes, those effects were cool. I think Angel was my favorite, ngl.
If Hulrun lives then in Act 5 when the Demons swarm the camp he will rally a defense and the Sword of Valor will be saved. If both he and Ramien are dead then a completely new character steps in to do the same thing. Otherwise the Sword of Valor is taken until Act 6.
(Spoilers for Act 5): The Queen always takes the SoV to Iz. However, at Iz, there are potentially 3 locations of interest: If the Queen wasn't given the Lexicon, she'll be fighting an undead dragon, and if you don't go there first, she'll die (or maybe Irabeth will die and she'll only be wounded, can't recall). If you did give her the Lexicon, she'll be at the library, which is being destroyed. Either way, if you don't go to the library first, vital objects will be destroyed which you need for the secret ending. Finally, the demons are planning an assault on the queen's camp, and if you don't go there first, the NPCs there will all be killed and the SoV will be taken to Threshold, and you won't get it back until the end of the game. However, if Hulrun is alive, you can warn him of the attack on the camp, and he can hold it off without you, letting you keep the SoV if you go there second.
I came into this just wanting to fanboy over devil, but time & time again Aeon wins me over. I'm just imagining the Aeon theme playing while walking through Drezen now. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need to finish WOTR! Does anyone know if they fixed the issue with the new fighter archetype yet?
We gonna ignore the fact Gold Dragon has a GIANT EFFING DRAGON just casually hanging out on his front lawn? lol. I dont see a new DLC in the steam store though. Where these changes already made in the last patch?
Man this was so cool! I’ve only done one playthrough of the game (Azata) and I’m not planning to do another (completionist first playthrough took about 350 hours so 🤷♂️), so it’s awesome to get to see what all the other mythic paths get in this update. Ty ty o7
If you kill Hulrun then you'll lose the Sword of Valor in Act 5 and won't regain it until Act 6. That also means you'll never seen the upgraded transformation version of it in Drezen.
Great changes. i also felt underwhelmed looking at my Sword of Valor as a trickster. i think there was a sock on it or something. Made we wish i took a more serious path
That's if you don't save the banner as trickster. You take off a sock and hang it on the pole, and it turns into a banner with a sock on it. If you save the banner it has 2 dice, mid roll on it.
Not really digging the Demon one though. Just feels lore breaking. It's a rough stretch as it is that the crusade would support a Demon Mythic in the first place, but at least you can somewhat justify it in the sense that the rank-and-file people don't see the Commander doing Demonic crap in person, so they just look at the results. But why the heck would Crusaders and the thousands of civilians who came to support their war AGAINST Demons just casually consent to go about their daily business on blood-soaked, demon-patrolled streets?
@@jjaust I thought I saw him stop in front of a human merchant in the screen vid. But no, I don't do evil runs. At least not in most games where their entire concept of Evil seems to be best summed up as "Be the douchiest douche who ever douched a douce". The only game I ever played where they let you play evil without having to also play a breathtaking moron was Tyranny.
I'm still waiting for the update that lets you recover those 4 items stolen from the museum in Kenabres in act 1, and return them in act 5 during Dance of Masks. I always carry around that helmet, jug, wand, and claw with me the whole game, just in case there's a secret use for them. Though making the sword of valor better was necessary. You could save 2 of the 3 things in Iz each run (usually) and Galfrey for the secret ending, and the library for the secret ending, were always the best options. A tiny bit of fast healing wasn't that great. Would be great if you got a slightly different buff, though. Such as, your first skill check every day as Trickster, you roll twice. Demon, natural attacks do 1d8 extra damage, stuff of that sort.
That does look pretty cool! And i just had my final all dlc and content run like a month ago. But i guess i can wait for final final updates to make one more run.
@@SlanderedGaming I've never finished a full playthrough because they keep pushing out DLC and updates (for which I'm grateful). But you know what? The time has come...
So let me ask a question im kinda new to this, i see my companions level up in specific wepons, that means you pretty much should play with that wepon, right? Most everyone uses a bow, seems like alot of wasted good wepons. Just sell all them? Im loving the game, im hooked. I haven't had this much fun in a long time with a game.
For most companions you can chose which weapon they level up with. Lann & Arueshalae are the only ones that are really tied to bows. You should definitely stick with only one weapon though.
@@SlanderedGaming ok, my wendaug was gaining in bow also and my ember. For me that's like my whole party because I kinda like spellcaster but wendaug and the succubus are wicked with the bow so got them too. I just see all these amazing weapons and all my guys got bows or Wolfie gots couple daggers is all. Thanks for your content to bro, it really helped me get into and through some of this.
