Yea but in Indycar the 500 is our crown jewel, our real championship, our Super Bowl. Even TK always said he would trade his series championship for a 500 win any day and lucky for him he got both. Helio never even won a championship but when you talk to him he says his four 500 wins is what matters most to him haha and I agree, duh but of course. That is why it also hurts Pato so much because this is the most important race over anything else he will ever do in his career. He will win one, I just know it. Every 500 he has raced in, he gets better and better and learns something new each year. I agree though that the race is over, so now focus on Detroit and so on 💪🏁 Your heart is there Pato just like TK. You saw how long it took him bro. I’ve never been more torn over how to feel about the outcome of a race. I’m fans of both you and Josef. So I’m thrilled for him, and equally crushed for you. The shots from your onboard camera all day said it all. You wrestled that can, almost willing it through every corner. That, my friend, was one of the drives of the century.
I was screaming as loud as I could for you, Pato! I think all the other 340,000 fans were too. It was really something to hear the crowd over the sounds of the cars. Awesome race. Hold your head high.

Cómo mexicano dolió con el alma ver esa última vuelta, fué ver el sueño de ver a un mexicano ganar la Indy 500 hacerse realidad por 20 segundos para después convertirse en pesadilla los últimos 20 segundos, sí así lo sentí no me imagino lo que sentiste tú Pato. Lo que lograste hacer con ni siquiera el mejor McLaren es de admirar. Siempre estaré orgulloso que el piloto que represente a México en una de las carreras de la Triple Corona del Automovilismo cómo las 500 millas de Indianápolis seas tú. Had to skip to the three minute mark to try and avoid the finish. Man, all I could say was, anyone but Joseph and it hurt twice as much with him passing you on the last lap. You couldn't have done anything more. You're awesome!

It all comes down to being in 2nd on the final lap and have the power of the draft to slingshot you past the leader. This back and forth happens the majority of the race. Its just a highy skilled version of musical chairs. Keep it in perspective. You are living your Dream Life now. Nothing to cry about. If its your destiny YOU WILL WIN the 500 one day!
Watching the Indy 500 since 1986 and i can't remember having ever seen any driver go so fast around the brickyard with such a badly handling car. Amazing!!
Call me crazy but I'm pretty sure Pato gained more fans than Josef with that finish. The humility and vulnerability he showed was massive for his story. That win will come one day and it will be even sweeter when we think back at the 2022, 2023 & 2024 finishes. It took Newgarden 12 tries that's why last years win meant so much. I just hope Pato sticks with McLaren for the long run so when he does win he makes history. Papaya fans are proud of you. KEEP PUSHING!

At this point I am wondering if Pato has an Andretti somewhere back in his family tree, because it feels like that old Andretti curse with how many times he is so close to winning, haha. All jokes aside though, the win will come. I've been watching IndyCar for a long time and have never been more certain of it with any other driver. You will get that Indy 500 win.
I've watched the last 2 laps multiple times. Pato showed on lap 198 that he could approach the leader and make his pass entering turn 3. He should have waited to do the same move on lap 199 in turn 3. His pass on the front row before the last lap was too soon. He had it. It was so close. I can understand his eagerness. If he ever finds himself in the same position again. He needs to be patient.
Can't wait to see Pato on the other side holding his hands in victory at this place. Just has to keep his head up like Sato did come back and win this sucker. For awhile there I thought it was going to come down to the teammates Rossi and Pato for the final dash.
