Jesus Christ, the constant "Hold on!" from Opie when Patrice is trying to talk to this lady was unbearable. Patrice was much better at radio (and still is, even dead) than Opie ever was. Let him do his thing, and sit back and appreciate.

Man… I’m listening the day after Super Bowl and Opie asked Patrice, “How’d u like the Super Bowl?” And for a millisecond my heart thought Patrice was alive. Damn it heart!

Im newer to O&A but ive been catching up on old and new shows and wow ant and jimmy talk about how opie would check out during great bits or if he wasnt involved he'd interject or stop it. Thank god Opie was there to get the pay off of some dope saying the n word on the radio, god knows that was more entertaining and edgy than letting one of the best comedic minds ever rip the caller to shreds.

Exactly, people forget how disjointed the show is when Opie isnt there. The show is the way it is because he actually is the rudder of the ship. Just because he tried to be funny and couldnt doesnt mean he didnt play a pivotal role in why the show was great.
I’ve noticed over the years that one way Opie tries to fight off the fact that he’s so uninteresting is he’ll try to show off his sports knowledge. Anthony never gives a shit about sports. Jimmy likes them to the point that athletes are celebrities he can bother for a picture. But Opie loves to steer the topic towards talking about sports because that’s where he thinks he’s interesting. You’ll notice it a ton when he takes callers, no matter what the show is talking about or why the caller called in, Opie will often bring the show to a halt to ask the caller about how the sports team from whatever city they’re calling from is doing. Just so desperate to be interesting.
Opie would have been great if he knew his place. Some of his ideas for events and bits (the ones he didn’t try to force)were great… however the dude could just have sat back, felt when a topic was dying out and then bring something else up and start a new topic and kept the flow going. The dude had a golden ticket to a multimillion dollar paycheck and had to do hardly anything other then not step on toes and keep the show moving. Pride comest before the fall as they say. Do just enough to not be replaceable, but recognize when it’s your time and place.

You missed the point. 100% of black comedians could do their act based on race and how would that affect your life, or the life of the loser that called in angrily to complain about it?
She is, nothing she said was true. Patrice has many episodes he doesn't mention race at all, or only talks about it in passing. The only people who would interpret his appearances as "always turning it about your skin" are blinded by emotion i.e. racists. They feel called out when ever black people point it things they do. And she implied that black people that acknowledge racism don't contribute to society. And he read her in the first five seconds.
