My time at Narcissa's place was delightful. She speaks softly and with fascinating clarity. Her decor astounds me, no room is left unkempt, no expense is spared for her particular aesthetic flourish. Can't quite remember what she told me, but I'll never forget how it made me feel. I'll be visiting again soon!

this music gave me a very fun dream of a mini-series where 8 friends designed a very cool train for themselves only for it to go beyond their control so they have to recontrol and leave the train before regrouping to finally come to peace with it and one of the 8 friends was actually a projection of the train's "consciousness" and the train was a teenager struggling with being trains (trans lol) who needed a long conversation and boom and also there was some cool action. thank u for the dream, Patricia Taxxon!

okay so. I have synesthesia and sometimes get visualizations (though in my mind's eye, not actually seeing) of colors and shapes and textures and a whole bunch of other things. I'm usually too busy to appreciate the soundscapes when I listen to music but the opening song knocked me over the head, shook me by the collar, sat me down, and said LOOK. I feel like I just went to somewhere in the fourth dimension for 2 minutes and my skull is still rattling a bit. In an unordered and completely inadequate list, here's sort of what it was like: -You know that arched glass skylight ceiling that every mall has in all its main walkways? It was like moving down an infinite mall hallway on a hoverboard while colored shapes popped in and out of existence all around me at varying distances -at one point the curved supports of the archway started seeming like thin fish bones being struck with something small and metal. they were bright lime green. -There were echoing blue bass tiles down the whole walkway, dark denim-y blue, like cold stones -Sometimes bright and cartoonishly flat blue shapes popped in and out right in front of me like sunspots in my eyes -Colored stripes that arched overhead, following the curve of the ceiling and down the walls, raced back and forth along the whole walkway, in and out of sight pausing felt like coming up for air, genuinely don't think I've ever had such a strong sensory experience with a song before. I'm overstimulated but holy crap I am definitely gonna come back later to see what else is under that ocean! This is truly fantastic

I always come back to this album every time I need to focus on anything. This is fantastic background music that enhances the experience of doing all stuff. Also I pretend that Narcissa will notice if I get distracted and glare at me in disapproval, so it motivates my ADHD brain to not look at my phone.

Holy shit, that was really really good. Really felt like each track told a story, and the album as a whole created a cohesive story. It feels weird to say this on an album with (almost) no lyrics, but it feels like I know this character better. The music and room names just make you Get what's going on, emotionally. Very interesting stuff, a lot of great storytelling moments conveyed through clever musical tricks. I feel like I don't know enough about music production to really articulate it, but, I loved it. Really beautiful album, really interesting, Definitely a new favorite! 10/10

2021 was a great year for Patricia Taxxon albums! I loved Yes, And in particular. It's such a colorful project, sparkly and life affirming and all those other fun adjectives. I used to play it once a day, I think? When I heard this album here (Visiting Narcissa) for the first time, right away I started drawing parallels. I was a bit sad at how these tracks are more meandering... they take longer to build and don't go as many places. HOWEVER! Upon relistens, I found much to love in this album. Every song feels so alive! "Her Hookah Lounge" is a personal favorite. The longer structure doesn't bother me anymore, I actually really like how well everything flows. It doesn't feel like there's a single loop here, and really the whole 90 minutes breezes by. When I have time, I listen to the entire album in one sitting. It's probably my favorite Patricia Taxxon album now? I actually went back to Yes, And, and it's crazy how this one kinda blows that one out of the water (no offense!). I didn't realize it until then, but this album is such a huge step up in production quality. Everything is so intricate and perfectly placed... it's actually awe-inspiring. Also, side note, if you're reading this Patricia please post a mixing tutorial!! I'm very jealous of the way the bass sounds on "Her Library."

I didn't think I could feel ASMR, and then this first track opens and immediately makes my whole head go tingly! I don't know if that was even slightly intended, but thanks for letting me know that my brain really likes the sound of... whatever the hell this is. Sounds like dragging your fingernail down a fine toothed comb, and it's amazing. The album is also just generally great, too.

Farewell Narcissa. Though my stay may has been short, it has been truly wonderful. I do not believe I have left your home as the same one who entered it, and for that I will never forget you. I would never wish to forget you. One day may we meet again. And that day may we talk long through the night and into the morning and sleep until sunset. And may we wake again with aching bones and the inescapable knowledge that we have changed. And that we will change. Until that day I have much to think about. And after that day I will have more. Farewell, Narcissa. Farewell

This was really cool. I wonder if the sprawling Piranesioid palace concept was something that was intended from the project's original inception or if the songs started suggesting this shape somewhere along the line. Anyways, Her Aviary and Hookah Lounge really took me back to playing video games in the 90s, trying to get those passwords on paper without mixing up 0 and O or I, l and 1, sitting on the carpet til it left impression patterns on my calves. Good stuff. Her Garage is my favorite of the bunch but I don't have flowery prose to back that one up, I just really dug it. I have to admit, I mainly subscribed for the video essays back in the day, and now I'm realizing I have a lot of music to catch up on.

(I probably messed up where the songs stopped and started, but I don’t really feel like going back and trying to fix it) First song sounds like a kalimba made of the metal fingers from the Other Mother’s hand, like from the movie Coraline, it makes my head hurt a lot tbh but I listened to the full thing anyway Second song sounds like a brightly-colored stained glass window with the sun coming through it mixed with that green crunchy stuff you’re supposed to put fake plants in or something that they sell at Michael’s but it’s always already crushed when you see it Third song sounds like a short film about observing the lives of tiny metallic beetles, though when the second sounds came in it started sounding similar to something Antimo and Welles might make (/pos) Fourth song sounds vaguely like another Antimo and Welles song, definitely a very intense point in a story, becoming lighter in tone as it goes on but still having dark mystery intertwined in the sound, almost sounds like one of the more calm songs from No Straight Roads, like The Revolution Comes Around or Contemplate or The Long Con Sequence (I may have written the last one wrong) Fifth song sounds kinda like one of the new Minecraft songs in the new creepy update made by that lady, definitely reminds me of Terraria music too, it sounds like a scientist working on some sort of sci-fi project with potions or something, again sounding kinda Antimo & Welles by the end lol (I like this one a lot, it’s really calm) Sixth song reminds me of Bubble Tea by Dark Cat, that light bubbly feeling Seventh song is hard to label as anything, but there’s definitely some kind of metal in there, and while trying to imagine some visuals for it I thought of a rat running through a vent, so there’s that Eighth song sounds like that rat in that vent, a really claustrophobic and anxious feeling, or perhaps playing the game Unmechanical and repeatedly ramming your little robot head into a wall, or playing the game Little Nightmares and passing over the chefs in their kitchen or the guests eating what they made, but when by the end when the more musical sound started coming in it sounded like the lady from Little Nightmares at first but then became like one of those remixes of an older song, either a pirate shanty or a traditional festival song Ninth song sounds like stars Tenth song sounded like Invader Zim at first, somehow, but the more mystical sounds were something else, like exploring a forest, but the way it built up so dramatic and then it dissipated reminds me of movie credits Eleventh song sounds like popcorn, that was my initial thought for whatever reason, then I thought of Spooky Month from Señor Pelo, then just another general mystical adventure, though this one was even more magic-filled Twelfth (is that really how you spell it? looks weird) song sounds like something you’d hear in a suspenseful scene from a horror movie, those metallic beetles are back, someone’s tapping on a window, I think someone’s probably counting something, oooooh listen up boys we got a beat, sounds like the sound you get when you have a microphone in harsh wind, sounds like a chase scene, is it getting faster?, it sounds like a rubber paint brush is putting paint on my ears, sounds like a grandfather clock made of angels Thirteenth song sounds like a dial tone, then i don’t know what but something contemplative, then some more funky bugs, but their environment is more colorful this time, a jungle, Antimo & Welles again, boots sloshing through slush, someone curious, something’s growing, hope and courage, finally serenity and acceptance This album was a journey, thank you so much Patricia Taxxon

First time ever listening to your music / this genre of music. I got to say its incoherent in a very coherent way. The album art helps unify it all together If that makes any sense at all. I love the soundscape it sound similar to dan terminus in some areas and the far far removed the next and for most if the album. In conclusion ... this slaps.
