it would be interesting to find out. The service academies all use some type of option offense and usually make it work without a lot of sprinters disguised as running backs, as you would find at OU during the wishbone era.
The wishbone was a superior way to play football. You still had to be able to throw the ball and catch it but guys like Mildren, Danny Bradley, Richard Todd et. al. proved it could work. The Sooner defense in 74 was overwhelmingly powerful and they said that the only team that was able to move the ball against them at all was their own offense in scrimmages. Eight or nine of those defensive players were starting in the nfl a couple of years latewr.
Patrick I thought was so underrated! he was small (pop warner backfield! ha!) but still so effective! gained some size thru his years but still kept that explosive speed!! So tough too! Was GREAT watching you Patrick!!!!
Troy got hurt and couldn’t compete with Jameel Holieway.... and transferred to UCLA.... so today’s generation needs to pay homage to him because he started to transfer portal lol lol lol
