The problem with sports media today is that they are constantly looking for the next athlete to put into contention of the "GOAT" conversation before letting a season or a career play out. So it's either moving the goal post for them to be included or finding specific stats that supports the argument. As a sports fan, I'm not oppose to dynasties because there is an established team that other teams need to beat to get over the mountain top. In basketball it was the Warriors during their run, in baseball you had the Giants and Astros, Football you had the Patriots and now the Chiefs. The issue I have is that we use recency bias to disregard the players that came before. And this is in no way discrediting Patrick Mahomes because he is a great player but I've seen sports fans now turned against him to prove the media wrong. The fact that a player like Brady who has two (maybe 3) hall of fame careers in his 1 gets quickly disregarded to welcome a new face is very telling. Now for me, I don't care for GOAT conversations because there is no tangible benefit to it. It's all narrative based but I'm a fan of body of work, not click bait discussions. Let the man finish out his career before we start that pressure. What happens if he doesn't win this weekend? What happens if he never wins another superbowl? What happens if he never reaches another superbowl? The answer to that is now the media will have to backpedal all the arguments they made for him. Brady had to wait 10 years to get back to the big dance and a lot of players finished their career with crazy stats but less than 3 rings. Let him get the stats, let him get some more wins, and then come back with a better argument. I'm glad a player like lebron was able to live up to the hype but it's crazy to think that the media had him potentially rivaling Jordan in the goat conversation before he even graduated high school.

its not all about championships and majors. tiger woods surpassed jack in literally every golf stat that matters and he is clearly and obviously better at golf than Jack.
