Sideswipe in the SG comics switched sides to the Decepticons. But yeah the original SG Sideswipe figure did reuse the Armada Wheeljack mold hence why they look the same
2:28 It wouldn't be a PPR Review if I didn't forget something...I totally forgot that Hot Rod had the built-In Arc Welder in his right wrist. I only opened the instructions for the video because I definitely didn't use them for these two.
There's a small indent within the other port of the rocket launcher for Sideswipe, makes the connection better, but not by much. Rodimus has a flip gimmick that houses the welder within his forearm. Got mines on Saturday, absolutely love these figures! Awesome review!
I might be posting this too soon but thats not blurs arc welder thats his welder he used to fix kup that is built into his hand if you flip it around. Been a minute since we got 86 hot rod but yeah the pic was good. I just dont see why Rodimus would use it. Botcon used armada wheeljack for sg sideswipe back in the day, the story is his friend was killed by other sg autobots and he defected to the decepticons.
When I spotted that welder the first thing I remembered wasn't fixing Kup in the movie rather the scene in the season 3 finale where he's infected with the madness plague fighting Optimus coated with protective metal attempting to save him and recover the matrix as he tries using it to carve a hole in his face. Seems to me the more fitting scene for an evil Rodimus anyway. Hadn't actually remembered he used it in the movie at all.
With the legs underneath Whisper reminds me of Dreadwind/BB. I want to add that you can fold the feet all the way down when the legs are flipped on the back for a more natural angle.
SG Rodimus/Hot Rod has been a bit of a grail for me, so I’m really happy to have a version in my collection. That Sideswipe is also cool was a great bonus.
I am so happy Minicons are back! If Armada Wheeljack ends up getting made, I'll definitely pick him up! Awesome review of this 2-pack, PPR! Keep up the great work, my friend!
Didn't pay too much attention to the Shattered Glass line till now. They're actually pretty sweet. A bit pricey to go back and grab em now. May have to start collecting them from here on out. Rodimus actually looks like Rodimus Unicronus but smaller.
That's cause Unicronus was based on SG Rodimus. Heck, in the toyshow he was revealed during, the display version had SG autobot symbols instead of normal decepticon ones.
@@ShatteredGlassUnicron that's cool I didn't realize that before I do have Rodimus Unicronus but didn't realize he was based on SG. Got a decent deal on him while back and thought he was a cool alt version of Rodimus Prime.
@@LionheartRacingSeries I mean he is, but imo he'd be cooler without the symbol change. :P ... But as you can tell from my name, I'm not exactly unbiased here! XD
I too was disappointed in the lack of comic and the retooling of the missile. I'd rather have the big peg hanging off it and it be able to stay in the launcher.
Glad you love the set too! And I think you might find it cool that canonically Rodimus has his hand replaced by the buzzsaw. (Look up the story Dungeons and Dinobots. It's one of my fav funpub SG stories.) And he's called Rodimus cause back around 2006 when hasbro did the classics figure, they lost the rights to Hot Rod, and that wasn't fixed in 2008 when that year's botcon introduced us to Shattered Glass. Plus, since he's the Starscream of this world, it works cause he can just give himself the suffix of Prime when he makes a power play. :P
It’s obvious that there’s gonna be a Wheeljack repaint of this “new” mold. The only version of this figure I have is Gigawatt. Yeah. I prefer the head to be turned around.
I love this set, but for once I was bitten by the QC bug. Both of Sideswipes "missiles" are the same. Given your luck, I was hoping you had the same issue so we could swap! Oh, and the rocket for Sideswipe was remolded on his Toxitron mold, too.
I am happy we are getting a little bit more shattered glass Deceptacons in this wave I was like When will we get more shattered glass deceptions like because there were a lot more in the comics
The first SG Sideswipe used Armada Wheeljack as a base. The upcoming Legacy Armada Wheeljack will use... Legacy SG Sideswipe as a base. The circle is complete.
