Patsy, died in a plane crash in 1963. Can you imagine how much more she could have done with her life? Patsy, was a close friend to Loretta Lynn. Leann Rimes was deemed to be Patsy's true replacement and 30 years after Patsy's death, that song that Leann Rimes recorded " Blue " was intended to be Patsy's song but the man that wrote that song waited 30 years until Leann Rimes appeared to carry on to honor Patsy's music. RIP Patsy Thank you so much Leann Rimes. You are pure heaven!!!!!!
Have you watched Ken Burns' documentary on the history of Country Music? The part where Patsy Cline boards a plane in Kansas City, headed for home, was especially sad because Roger Miller heard of the crash and thought he might know where it was. He went to that area, found her body and said he held her and cried until someone got there.
Coolrockndad I was going to note the Willie Nelson fact. You beat me to it 😉 Willie was a friggin’ beast all OVER the industry and at the same time, an “outlaw.” He’s a once-in-a-generation dude.
Virginia Patterson Hensley later known as Patsy Cline was the first woman country singer to cross over to pop music. She was the forerunner to many that followed including Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, and Shania Twain who also made it to pop. In 2005 over 40 years after her death from an airplane crash an album featuring her greatest hits sold over 15 million copies.
Love Patsy Cline. I was born the year she passed and always felt a connection. So great to see young people appreciating her amazing talent. Rock on girl!!
She recorded this while recovering from a bad car accident. Couldn't hit the high notes due to broken ribs. Came back a week or so later and nailed it first try. Beautiful voice
Oh Jayy..... you just took me on a personal journey. Patsy was my father's favorite country singer and her music was played on our stereo all of the time. When I hear those first few bass notes at the beginning, I am taken back and my father is sitting in his lounge chair with his hands folded on his stomach and his right foot is keeping beat with her music. He passed away years ago but he's always in my memory when I listen to her songs. Thanks for your reaction, Jayy. Take care and be well.... Peace.
She was phenomenal. Willie Nelson wrote and first sang Crazy, but it was Patsy Cline who made it a hit, and the number one jukebox song of all time, which Nelson really benefited from. Moreover, Nelson himself said her rendition of Crazy was his favorite. She was also the first solo female artist elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Another great artist gone to soon. She was only 29 when she died in a plane crash. Check out her other hits Sweet Dreams, Walking After Midnight. There is a terrific movie about her life called Sweet Dreams after the song. Actress Jessica Lange played Patsy and got an Oscar nomination for her role. Thanks
Patsy Cline's voice can be described in one word - LEGENDARY...💖 Clarence "Frogman" Henry and his song "I Don't Know Why I Love You (But I Do, I Do, I Do...)" was a big hit in 1961, as well - I highly recommend it! Keep the music coming, my Friend!💕🎼🎶
Every time I hear this version of Patsy Cline I am reminded of how much my Mom loved her music. Any other version is not as good or powerful. ❤️Thank You for Sharing ❤️
The originals usually can't be beat.Shedied so young left a husband and children. It was the saddest thing. I love your reactions to the music of my generation and appreciate it. I was very young when this came out but I still play it to this day.Funny story I played it so much when my son was growing up that he use to roll his eyes as to say not again.LoL
She was amazing. She died three or four years before I was even born. I would have loved to hear her and meet her. I put her in the same class as Barbra, Celine, and Bette. Damn! What a voice! Oh, and Fogelberg was a fantastic writer and fantastic voice, and pianist, and guitarist. And I DID get to meet him!
And this is my parents’ song, which always cracks me up because it’s so forlorn and they have been happily married for 50 years! Have you ever seen Peter Gabriel’s In Your Eyes live? That is my husband and my song.
This was my generation. Patsy sang songs containing truth and emotions that we can all relate too. She died in a plane crash at the age of 30 and at the height of her career. Look up and listen to her song called "SWEET DREAMS." Nice reaction.
Beautiful song by the Way Jay all the musicians the band bar Elvis Presley's band where the same musicians that played the music for all of Elvis's stuff 1960 through to 1963
I was a year old when Patsy made did this song and I grew up listening to all that old country my mother loved music she really loved Patsy Cline!! She wasn't just a great singer she paved the way for female singers cause she was a bad ass and she went after what she wanted an she didn't take no shit from nobody if you ever get the chance you should really watch the movie based on her life called sweet dreams Jessica Lange play the part of Patsy and she played her so well I really think you would enjoy the movie i've always loved her and all the older country music take a listen to some more of her songs you won't be sorry her voice is incredible!!!
You have great taste in Music I almost can't listen to the classics like these without shedding a tear for real its that good of a song and 2 you're amazing and I hope you check out all the Old Classics Elvis Dolly Parton Etc.
She took Loretta Lynn under her wing when she first started singing. The 2 became best friends. It about killed Loretta when she heard of the plane crash. She went into a deep depression but her husband, who was always pushing for her career, wasn’t about to let that happen. He worked hard to get her back. People can say all the bad things they want about him but if it wasn’t for him she would never of had a career. She just wanted to stay home & sing to her babies. He knew she had talent & he did everything he could to promote her when no one wanted to give her a chance. The movie about her life is great. It includes about Patsy Kline & how her husband worked so hard for her career. Yes, he became a womanizer, but she never divorced him & she stayed by his side till his death. True great love story. Check out the movie if you have a chance, you won’t be sorry.
Hey Jayy ,,,don't know if you read every comment , that would be a lot of time but you are getting onto some GREAT talent , If you get the time for research please check out Timi Yuro , for what ever reason she just never got her place in the public eye. Little Italian girl started working at singing in a restaurant as a kid but her vocals are in outer space. Everything she did was superb.
At least you love different genres of music. I was raised with all kinds of music like Ray Charles, George Jones, Patsy Cline, the Beatles, Nat King Cole, and the Rolling Stones. I'm glad some music draws emotions.
One of the ALL TIME GREATS...taken WAY TOO SOON!!! FYI...This was written by Willie Nelson and, in my opinion, one of the best covers is by LeAnn Rimes.
@Norma Vandever ...I am not sure I ever heard Angelina Jolie sing. However, Angelina Jordan does a great job on most covers. She changes them to fit her voice or however she thinks it should be sung many times....I don't recall any that I listened to that I considered "ruined"...if that is what you meant. If you don't like her style...that is fine. We are all entitled to our opinions..
One more thing to consider...Many time Angelina is singing with a guitar playing... into a microphone. she isn't in a studio with back up singers and autotuners for her voice. She is just a young kid...not a grown adult.
