Pattaya Thailand, Mistakes to Avoid Part 2 

I live in SW Costa Rica where scamming tourists is an art form, so I am fairly wise to that World and recently spent a couple weeks in the Kingdom. The person I was visiting and his Thai girlfriend pretty much explained everything you mention in your videos and made my Adventure free of BS. You do an excellent job of bringing things to light and not appearing jaded or hateful of the culture, which many ex-pats are. Thank you for that. My opinion has always been: Be the hustler, not the hustled and it has served me well in my travels. Keep up the good videos! Cheers.

I'll even take it a step further.. I am an older man. 55. But I keep in very good shape. I dress sharply and shower sometimes twice a day. I smell good and I look good for my age. I've had times when an obvious 8-9/10 girl wouldn't even have a LD with me... Had too many other prospects, maybe thought i was too old, is making plenty of money etc etc.. It's the new times in Pattaya.BKK.

Daz, it's fascinating what you describe about 'Drinks Queens' and many girls disappearing to work online. Being here at the moment, this has been my precise experience. Good looking girls are scarce and consequently charging significantly more. Well in excess of double 2020 prices for the same level of girl ...by the time you take the whole thing into the equation, including BF, & the fact that the girls seem to be drinking the 190THB 'lady drinks' at an indecent pace, so you have to keep buying more and more. Pattaya has changed with this shortage of 'attractive' girls, and the explanation of them going online seems to tally up. Some bloke on another channel yesterday tried to blame it on me because I was an 'old timer'. In fact I was directly comparing to only 3 years ago and I do look after myself, so that is not the case. People need to take heed of your comments, and decide if they feel 'lucky'.. And on the lunatic driving, again I agree. I always walk into the direction of traffic to see what is coming. That doesn't work here as scooters happily ride in the gutter on the wrong side of the road. In many Soi's, there is no pavement, so as a pedestrian you are very vulnerable to looney drivers. Still, it is warm & sunny. Very much enjoy the channel, because you tell it like it is.

The food in Terminal 21 may be cheap but the portions are very small and you have to use a taxi or baht bus to get there, I think the food court in Centeral Festival has bigger portions and u can just walk there if you stay near the "bar areas".

Great advice again Daz!! Once many years ago, in an extremely popular and packed Nana Plaza gogo, I wanted to take an insanely good looking gogo girl for the evening. I made the mistake of giving the barfine to one of the waitresses because it was heaving busy and wanted to get out relatively quickly and when I went to leave with my date, the waitress claimed she 'dropped/lost the barfine on the floor' and I had to the pay the barfine to the mamasan again. All manner of scams running in the gogo bar scene. Don't get plastered drunk and keep your head on a swivel if you want to take a lady for the evening is my advice!

Wise words as always Daz. I can't quite decide whether that Terminal 21 is hideous or beautiful. The food court looks fantastic though, in terms of choice and price.

Good warnings in this video, In the Netherlands If a car of motorbike will not stop at a pedestrian crossing the fine could be 360 Euro. 99% of the drivers stop and even give you a small greeting. And most people on foot replies to that.

Thanks, Daz...this one was a bit of a retread for me as you (or someone on another channel) has put forth the same warnings before. Never hurts to hear them again, and with your particularly avuncular, pleasant voice, it's not a bother for me.

Shopping mall food up at the top, maybe to do with the fire safety regulations as here in the Uk, so people can escape by go down away from the fire, it’s safer than having food cooked at the bottom of the mall Plus the smell of food rising up into other shops above and terminating clothing that sells them. On my first trip, I made the mistake of paying in full up front for long time with a gogo girl in Chiang Mai (yes, they do have one or two gogo bars there or they did at the time). Got one pop in when we went back to the room, then we snuggled up and watched TV for a bit. Then she said she had to go out and get something to eat, assuring me that she'd be back - she didn't come back. Oh well, live and learn.

We will be studying the effects of Covid and the workforce for the next 3 years. It was a real game changer. A friend told me of a mixed Thai-Canadian girl who makes so much money on the websites now that she only needs to work 2 hours a day on average, doesn't leave her apartment unless she goes to a restaurant or shopping. She had to hire a full time assistant to handle her scheduling and customers. Good for her. I think the price of "B" level talent will go up, which then impacts the whole industry. And if you're "C" level, you're then motivated to get the cosmetic surgery to make it into the "B" level money. So....buy cosmetic surgery product company stock now! haha

i am lucky, returning to thailand in march.... been visiting since 1997, this time i am leaving my wife (thai ) at home in australia for 11 x days...then she will arrive. in thailand for 10x days with me for my 67th birthday...28th march... this visit was going to be my last due to ill health.... however my step daughter is getting married in thailand in sept.... so another visit... like i said.... i have been coming to thailand for nearly 25 years.... things have changed a lot in pattaya.... yes prices of girls has increased, and so has the price of other things in thailand.... when i first came to pattaya i would stay at the APEX hotel... and i found lots of girls within easy walking distance .... i was told a lot of the old drinking areas have been torn down and shops built .... hope to see you in thailand.. ps loved your vid on davids backyard bar

Regarding number 1, I think it is more a question of there being too many bars rather than too few girls. As you said yourself, there are now bars in places that was never a bar before.

This Terminal 21 is kitsch central, a mini Las Vegas strip! You've got a Tour Eiffel, a Leaning Tower of Pisa and a Golden Gate Bridge among the attractions. (Being an Australian I was more than a little disappointed that the Sydney Opera House didn't also feature). The original Terminal 21 is on the corner of Soi 21 and Sukhumvit in BKK of course and within spitting distance of Soi Cowboy. Yep, good advice there, Daz, about avoiding like the plague illegal drugs and jet-skis when in Thai. I would also recommend that new arrivals avoid overly pushy bar hostesses along with predatory ladyboys. You can certainly watch your back and still have a great time...

The food court at Terminal 21 does have economically priced food and is very popular, but the serving sizes are rather small by most standards. 👌

Regarding mistake #2 I think a bigger one that goes with that is trusting that the BIB will enforce the traffic rules to make it safer. (never happen).

I'm very sad to hear this new phenomenon, but we have the money in hand anyway, we can decide which lady to give to, next time when I walk into the bar, I'll tell them very clearly that only the ladys can be barfined will have my drinks

Daz! as usual you are dropping some truths. As for the comments regarding the bar girls on Only Fans, these were mostly driven by some bar owners as a means to generate income during the pandemic. Guys would log on and buy ladies drinks. The girls got a cut and so did the bar owners. Some of these activities (not all) was discovered by the Thai government and were deemed in violation of the C19 laws and were shut down. Some of the bar girls did continue to operate on their own but I don’t imagine that it’s as prevalent as it once was during the height of the pandemic. Simply because Thailand has opened up and people are free to travel again. As for their being a shortage of girls for the bars there is some truth to this as well. And bar owners are having difficulties with recruiting girls and having to pay higher wages. But it’s not the only reason. Once the pandemic hit some women decided after being out of the game for 2+ years that they didn’t want to return to the bar life. Just like a lot of employees in the west didn’t go back to their less then desirable jobs after the pandemic ended. Therefore, the airlines; food service and hospitality sectors continue to suffer a shortage of workers. As an international investor I follow market trends and have recently began analyzing and shifting some of my holding to Southeast Asia. In 2021 Thailand exported over 271 billion dollars in goods. 8% agriculture, 5.9% canned goods. 3.1% in mining and fuels. The other 83% was manufacturing. As a result of this many women who might have once sought work in the bars are now working in the industries. Further explaining the shortage of ladies at the bars. The Thai government has been working to educate, diversify and employ more of its citizens for the past 20+ years. So where are all the 8’s, 9’s and 10’s AKA the stunners. The stunners know that they have options. Why would you work the bar for years when you can just use it to meet a guy of upward mobility and means. In other words, they are tapping out sooner and are forgoing many years in the bars. That’s not to say that you can’t land a 8, 9 or 10, but understand that it’s more expensive than it used to be and that they have options. If she’s looking at a handsome 40-year-old who dresses well and is in shape that is willing to give her 4000 to 5000 Thai Baht per day. Versus a 60-year-old pensioner that is out of shape and doesn’t dress nicely then she’ll pass and so would you. Gentlemen it’s all about her options. This is why in Daz’s story from the hairdresser, the women is no longer interested in getting 20,000 Baht for a month. As a freelancer she’s probably netting 3 to 4 times as much. Lol the problem her is the Italian guy doesn’t under the effects of global inflation. As one subscriber noted there is still plenty of action to be had. However, it’s much more expensive than it was 3 years ago. So how much should you budget? If you want to play with 8’s, 9’s and 10’s. You should figure about 6000 Thai baht per night. So, if you’re wanting company 3 to 4 nights a week that will run you around 24,000 Baht or around $730 US dollars. For lesser talent it will cost less but at a minimum I would anticipate 4000 baht per night to be on the safe side. This will not include drinks, food, and the cost of partying with her. Which is why I said 6000 baht. Also make sure that you’re dressing well but no need for flashy jewelry and watches, just be dressed in a pair of nice shorts, shirt, and shoes. Be clean and presentable. Including your oral hygiene. If you’re able to please work out and stay in the best shape possible. This isn’t the 80’s, 90’s and mid 2000’s anymore. Remember the stunners have options. Personally, when I plan a trip to Southeast Asia for a month, I save 10,000 US dollars just for having fun. That doesn’t include my Airbnb, food, transportation, shopping, etc. That’s just my mongering budget. I have yet to spend that much maybe half but it gives me padding if needed. I also don’t keep the same lady for the month. 3 to 5 days at most. I take a break for 2 days to relax and see the sights and then I start fresh. Look I get it some men are going to say that’s ridiculous and too expensive and I don’t disagree. I’m simply telling you how it is today. If you’re not targeting young 20 somethings and are okay with late 30’s to early 40’s then it won’t cost as much. But it’s still more expensive than it used to be. I just wanted to give the guys here a different perspective on what is going on currently in Pattaya and Phuket.

It's ironic that on the government side, they talked about boosting family tourism in Pattaya by cleaning it up a little bit. Well, Covid is doing that for them and is introducing entrepreneurs at the same time with the ladies cashing in on virtual "Boom Boom." Great video; hopefully, some will act wiser base on it. I WILL!

would like to comment on a few of the mistakes - zebra crossings - these are a good idea. when your pedestrian light goes green make sure you still look as you cross the road - 3/4 of the cars/bikes will stop. continue visually looking at the road as you cross, and just allow the idiots through if they ride/drive past the red light pay up front girls - ive never experienced this myself, but i am assuming this only happens in high end gogo bars? my advice is never talk to a mamason period . only talk/negotiate with the girl. I advise these days only going for short time with a girl. negotiate a time of say 1-3 hours or so. if you want long time negotiate with the girl what you want, and not want to do etc jetskis/motorcycle rent - Never touch a jet-ski in thailand ever PERIOD! if staying in Pattaya you do not require your own transport, they have bolt app, and 10 baht buses, not worth the hassle of traveling around on a motorcycle. if you get into any kind of accident, being a farang you will always be at fault. leading a girl on - always tell the girl the truth, they have a connection of information. if you say you have to travel back home, and their friend sees you, that could lead to girl drama and problem in that bar. best to be upfront, say you're a butterfly and have fun. Do not get attached !!! and dont fall in love hehe

Always be aware of most of the freelancers / bar girls. There are several facebook groups where they share pictures and information of all their customers.

Nice video again, but a minor correction. Weed is not completely legal. It is only legal for medical use. You are not allowed to smoke it in public. The sidewalk vendors are technically illegal. However, those rules are enforced in typical Thai fashion. I would advise against public smoking because I have seen the police roll up on a couple of people.

While I'm sure the problem is especially bad in Thailand, wherever you go the highest concentration of pedestrian fatalities is at designated pedestrian crossings - the reason being that people don't think to look before crossing at a designated pedestrian crossing.

Excellent once again, Daz. That's right - after C19 a lot has changed - it is much more difficult to find a motivated, entertaining and attractive lady. Many disappointing attempts are usually necessary, I personally was always happy with my "lottery winnings" in the end. In Germany, after C19, I pay double or triple the price for almost everything. Why should it be any different in Thailand? It's called inflation.

A few points from the video (great as usual) Drink Queens Amons on pot hole has a couple I ran into them in November when you get to the point the excuses begin. Zebra crossings was crossing 2nd round with my family a few years back and a Farang ploughed through when the Thais had stopped for the lights nearly took my daughter out what a wanker and I told him. He took off when Thai taxi guy got envolved.

You're videos are great! very entertaining. I have come to the conclusion there is no point in flying half way around the world when there are plenty of using ho bags right in here the states.
