Fun Fact on that Ariados VS Mewtwo comment, Ariados actually carved out an amazing niche in DPPt Ubers because it is the only mon that can set up T-Spikes and has access to Shadow Sneak, which makes it a good counter to Speed form Deoxys.

36:15 Patterz, that's a myth based on difficulties zoos have had in breeding them. Pandas breed fine in the wild, and in fact are not even classed as endangered anymore (though still threatened). Casual Geographic has a great video about them.

19:09 from what I’ve seen/read, if you start the battle with Staraptor, who’s idle battle animation is flying, then send out Charizard, who’s idle animation is standing, but also has a flying animation coded to it, the Charizard will be flying since that’s what the last pokemon was doing

I could genuinely be VERY wrong about what I'm about to say, as I don't even know what the move is called in Japan, but it might be because of translation. Ofc we all know it's translated from Japanese, so there's things like, Sucker Punch, for example, not being a punching move, cause in Japanese it's called, if I'm not mistaken, surprise attack. So in Japan it makes clear sense why it's not while in America, it's like "why isn't sucker punch boosted by iron fist" type of situation.

@@HourglassBen I mean, valid I guess (although bug fairy would actually still be my immediate assumption if I were seeing it for the first time....cutiefly? Probably not, I'd probably think it was a pure bug type or at least not have a guess for a secondary typing....but Ribombee? I don't know, it just gives off more fairy vibes than flying vibes to me. Probably the scarf and wing designs/shape) but Patterrz is primarily a poketuber who does a lot of then we fight videos so it's just a little more ironic/funny when he makes that kind of mistake. Understable since everyone makes mistakes just kind of funny.

Regular vs Attack Deoxys actually came up in a video by Jimothy Cool talking about Psychic Pokemon. Not sure about later gens but in early gens, Deoxys regular with enough EVs could survive pursuit and a few priority attacks, making it a decent competitor to Deoxys Attack which died to everything. Edit: Strangely enough, Ariados does have a niche in gen 4 Ubers of all things. Spikes in gen 2 only did one layer.

Damn I didn’t know that, I always assumed they’re defenses were close enough thay anything that would kill attack form would also kill base, so deoxys base form would be used for surviving very specific but popular interactions but you’d lose some damage output, while attack form would more so for just maximizing damage output

Fun Fact about the "Alakazam getting Nasty Plot section". It actually rose to National Dex Ubers after the buff of getting Nasty Plot!. Of course it meant you were using a Mega Alakazam with Nasty Plot in a format where it normally wouldn't get it but still it goes to show what would've happened if Alakazam got Nasty Plot when it still had its Mega Accessed, Kinda reminds me of Mega Blastoise getting shell smash there lol (It also helped the fact that Magearna, One of Mega Alakazam's biggest counters in Gen 7 OU is banned in National Dex)

The panda don't know how to breed ting is actually misinformed Pandas rarely breed in captivity (in captivity - being to keywords) Pandas in the wild are actually known to have sex (with one suiter) more then 40 times a day during breeding season

Wigglytuff could be good with ONE good ability.. My suggestion is replacing Frisk with Huge Power. Reason 1: Base 70 attack is a perfect candidate for this! Reason 2: Both Azumarill and Diggersby, the other rabbit Pokémon, has it. Then it would be a menace in Trick Room teams if anything!

Fur Coat could also work It is a Defense equivalent of Huge Power after all, and its Def is a pitifully low 45 making it doable

Masquerian IS bug/flying; it's pre-evolution is bug/water. And Rhobombee is bug/fairy.

The "flying"/levitating thing is that there are some pokemon that have both animations - a standing one and a flying/levitating one. If you make a swap the animation goes off whatever mon you swapped out for. So if you swap gengar in from a pelipper it'll levitate, but if you swapped out an iron treads, it'll stand normally

39:13 t tar also started to get worse ever since it lost pursuit. Tbh I missed pursuit, a lot of these ghost and psychic types running away free a lot of them are so powerful. Pursuit was also good for other mons. But too bad pursuit was used on like 3 mons. Others weavile and bisharp. imagine kingambit with pursuit

1:15 Did you know the anime Pokemon Horizon confirmed that Zangoose is a cat. Well mixed with cat and zangoose. Besides its dex classification says cat. Some more context, pokemon new horizon (the one with the new protagonist) is an episode showing all the cat Pokemon its a cat Pokemon daycare/adoption centre or whatever. zangoose appears in it same as sneasel

When I played Pokemon as a kid infatuation never did anything for the first 2 rounds, then on turn 3 and afterwards my pokemon never did anything. I always thought the chance to be infatuated increased each round.

Bibarel Curse, Aqua Jet/Quick Attack, Waterfall, Crunch; White Herb+Simple is actually pretty broken. Using Swords Dance Quick Attack/Aqua Jet combined with the Metronome item actually has some viability too.

Bibarol feels like kinda an troll pokémon in some ways, at the beginning it is decent but it falls off so fast. And for new players you're like, the pokemon is not as good anymore, but i bet it will evolve any lvl now for an second time. And then it never does

Nah not really that's just the classic regional rodent archetype, peaks early, falls of late game. If your familiar with Fire emblem it's similar to Jagen archetype. Shame gen 9 open world kinda ruined em.

Pat, the reason some pokemon float is because if they can fly/float like Gengar, they only do that if they come in after a pokemon who is off of the ground/flying

Patterzz talking about heracross sucking bulbasaurs seed/flower pud get whole lot of more akward when you know that in anime/games etc when bulbasaur uses leech seed it shoot the seed out of is pud. It gets even more weird cause in the finnish dub they translated move names and leach seed was translated to ( siemensyöksy) Put that in google translate. So heracross is literally sucking nuts

At least Weirdeer is a help to Stantler even if it isn't enough. It at least has life again. It's not like it ever functioned well as stantler. It was Garbage in Gen 2 out classed by pretty much every normal type

We have done more *to* pandas than *for* them. The ones in nature are just fine, the ones in captivity are the bad ones, from what I've seen anyways. They'd be fine without us.

Yeah... They don't, honestly, Give a damn at all about Competitive. Pokémon games are made for the base game, that's what they focus on. The ENTIRE COMPETITIVE SCENE is player created. So yeah, Competitive Pokemon is now Officially regulated, but it started as an unregulated Mess. The games will ALWAYS Be ABOUT THE GAMES. So what if they didn't Buff a Pokemon to a point that it is Competitively viable? That's not their goal. Their goal is to make th Pokemon Viable for a PLAYTHROUGH of the game... or just less useless in the game... NOT to cater to Competitive players.

Well, they DO care about the competitive scene...just not the fanmade Smogon one. They care quite a bit about the official 2v2 meta tho.

@@rotciv557 true, but my point was the competitive side is and always has been an afterthought. They care primarily about game balance, the single player experience... They don't go and do complicated calculations and comparisons to make Every Pokémon Competitively viable. As long as it works in the games, that's what The company cares about. That's why there are so many balance issues in the competitive scene... and personally, I hope that never changes.

To be completely honest, it’s a lot better to play the games and watch the epilogue anime arcs. Watching the lore *could* be funny as someone that knows nothing about the games, but still. The best video for it would be the one by EruptionFang, but that’s over 3 hours long, so that could be rough for a reaction unless he’s extremely invested.
