Weeellll, take nothing from her. HOWEVER, as fo ME: That particular crown, still rests upon the head of Aretha Franklin (aka The Queen of Soul). lol Oh and don't get me wrong. I appreciate them both...Just never could understand how anyone could even consider it a "close call" between them. What am I missing? 🧐🤷

@@iversonlopez8538 Lol Dont say bye just yet. Few Receipts: 1. 18 Grammys to her name (while Patricia has TWO). 2. Very FIRST female (of ANY race) inducted into the Hall of Fame. 3. Only singer in history to have their VOICE literally declared "a natural resource" by the U.S. State Department (1985, loonnggg before her death). 4. Whether it was Jazz, Soul, Pop Pop, R&B, gospel, Classical, Blues, or Swing Jazz...Ree was proficient in nearly ALL genres. 5. From the funerals of Martin Luther King, Mandela, Rosa Parks, Mahalia Jackson, and Nelson Mandela to Princess Diana... who'd they ask for? The Queen.

The passage from 0:47- 0:53 would shatter a lot of vocalist. To go from a cavernous chest to transition to and equally powerful head tone shows very good coordination. Another secret to patties coordination is that she naturally developed a sort of yodel where the head and chest are coordinated as well as developed a seamless glissando. She was/is amazing!

Best intro I think was between "spirits in it" and you'll never walk alone. She came out blasting holding notes that would have destroyed the universe

I was at this show with my best friend Richard Martin. We got there as Patti started this intro. We never ran so fast in our lives to get to our seats. Lol. Patti was absolutely amazing as usual. She also revised this song as an outro. Bud Ellison was an amazing musical director and musician. Rise in power Mr.. Ellison. You are loved and missed!💕🖤💕🖤💕🖤💕 Long live Patti LaBelle! You are loved.💕

Her best intro hands-down was during the “Winner In You Tour” in 87. It’s actually on RU-vid, but you had to be there to see it for yourself. In the opening had these ice Blue laser lights That’s spelled out her name, then formed into an 80s flavored design, then went back to her name, then back-and-forth until the spotlight hit her at the top of the steps for, in the air tonight! I was eight years old, but I remember it like it was yesterday. Also the night I gave her flowers and she gave me kisses all over my face.

@@whitemumbo5766 She always had that wobble. Idk why
@teegee7801
@teegee7801 2 года назад
@@whitemumbo5766 Causes: (1) Lack of focus in vocal tone. (2) Singing without proper closure of the vocal cords. (3) Inconsistent "resistance" in the body to control the outward flow of air (some call this "support"). (4) Singing with too much "thick vocal cord mass". (5) Dragging too much "chest voice" or "heavy mechanism" (see William Vennard's book) too high. (6) A shaking diaphragm. -thevoiceteacher I don't think Patti kept a vocal teacher consistently enough.

I think she should have trained but then again, she probably wouldnt sound the same but she might have preserved her voice longer. But I always wondered why she incorporated such a robust headvoice in her singing, even early on. But, then again, having a robust headvoice is a part of early gospel (Baptist) church.

@@teegee7801 oh ok. I remember 95 was the intro with the long overture, then Pattis silhouette behind the screen to “My Love, Sweet Love”. The same as the Fourth of July concert from here in Philly and thats on RU-vid. It was the same intro, but they had to chop it in half for time that night for TV time. The actual concert I saw I had about 7 mashup songs.
