The same note she sang during her Mariah Carey tribute and folks swear it’s a whistle tone. I think this response describes her voice and this note perfectly. It’s the piercing resonance / overtones that make it sound like a whistle note. Her voice is truly something otherworldly! 😅
Excellent anointed voice. God has definitely touched her voice and she is not shy nor selfish in showing it by performing in All her styles of singing. 🎶 Most of all she really loves singing 🎵 and recognizing God. Thanks for the video.
Listen to her song with Grover Washington called The Best Is Yet To Come @ the 5:30 mark she hits a similar note not quite as high as here but close and much stronger.
She’s done in so many performances. I’m so glad the public has finally come to see her true talent. Also, that she is a true legend and I’m so glad that she is still ON STAGE AT 78 years young. 💜💜
Who cares what Note She’s singing!!! 🎶 it is a GIFT merely to be in her Presence!!! SHE, herself is a Gift from God for all of us to enjoy!!! And Praise His Holy Name for Such a wonderful Creation as Ms. La Belle, that we may seek His Glory through the Divine Majesty of Her Holy and Perfect voice. God reveals His Phenomenal Powers of Creation in the Glory and Majesty of her exalted Voice!! Through her you get to experience not only One Version of the Face of God, but also His Divine Voice!!!! What a Treasure to behold!!! 🤩😎🤩😎🤩
Patti pulls the microphone away and does insane, absolutely beautiful harmonizing in her live performances. If you're there it still fills the building. Her voice is so powerful. She's magic. 💜💜
Patti has always incorporated a polyphonic technique in her performances. She did it here and also did it at Essence 2020 while performing If only you knew at 3: 58. She did it recently during her tribute to Mariah Carey. For some reason, even though there are many videos that demonstrate this. Some folks don't want to acknowledge or accept what they're seeing & hearing. It's a note hit in such a way that allows you to hear at least two parts of her voice simultaneously harmoniously & in key !!!! God, I Love Your Voice Patti !!!❤❤❤ 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Sing Patti!❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉
Yes, I been saying this for decades that Patti can sing two notes at once. Two notes as well as add vibrations that the TV doesn't capture unless you are in the audience. My favorite polyphonic is when she sang born in a manger on a Christmas special. I have the audio only. She ends with a powerful belt with two notes, the other note doing multiple things😮
@@victorlatimer1009 yes. People continue to down play her vocal mastery as if she is not a vocal master. There are other things/vibrations she can add that I have never heard another singer do. These are not captured by recording media. You have to be in the audience to feel that and is often why crowds go nuts during performances
Any note my godmother sings is perfect. I. Call her my godmother. Because I love her soooooooo much. I'm little Patti because I can sing all her music. They tell me. As long as I live. Patti. Will. Never die. Never will miss her show when she's in my state. And she be here in months .Andi will be right there.
I believe that the controversy of whether this is a whistle-tone or not is based on theory. Meaning, one the individual is not holding their ear to make sure they have perfect pitch. Two, we are not use to individuals having this much power with whistle tones. Especially, at her age.
I'm not quite sure if she indeed sung that, but I heard a Bb6, although it could as well be what we call harmonics OR overtones (which is more likely, because of the mic distance displayed on the video and whistle notes in general don't tend to be loud enough to reach that far). Basically, whenever we're singing a "note", we're actually producing inumerous notes and sounds at the same time in our bodies and they all combine into one BIG NOTE, which is what we hear at the end. Now, you can "change the volume" of each overtone with some tricks and you'll hear more of, let's say, the first overtone (which is one octave higher than the main note we hear), or the 2nd overtone (which is a fifth above it) or the one that is a 7th above it and so on and so forth... Amd because technology is not as incredible as nature, sometimes it fails to capture the main sound as it is and enhances the overtone which is even more evident qhen recorded by another recording mic with the same "problem".
Patti has done this numerous times and people keep thinking she is doing these whistle overtones by accident. She is a master level singer ok ! She didn't again for the Mariah tribute and people confused thinking it was an accident again 😂
Musically she is registered as a "dramatic soprano" and so her range is ridiculous anyways. When she moved to Philadelphia International Records, that's when they had her start to sing more Alto level keys. And even though she will be 80 next year, that thing has still got that power!!!
She is NOT a dramatic soprano. I don't know who started that, but it's not true. Her voice does not have the weight of dramatic sopranos who sing over heavy orchestrations without mics.
She’s not a dramatic soprano. Dramatic soprano is not only high but weighty. What determines your Fach is where your best notes are made, not how high or low you can go. She’s always been a mezzo to me. Her best notes are hit in the mid range, not the rafters.
@@andremarks3073 There is an abundance of misinformation about voice types on Wikipedia and on RU-vid. This nonsense is coming from people who have no idea what they are talking about, but who will argue you down while using terms that do not even apply to most nonclassical singers. The death of expertise is upon us.
@@TruthSerum101 You’re right. It’s very sad. I hear contralto and coloratura thrown around so carelessly it almost depresses me. Contralto is THE RAREST female voice type and the only non-classical singer I’ve heard who fits the bill is the late Phyllis Hyman. Anita Baker, Adele, Toni Braxton and the like are all mezzos. What most don’t realize is even within mezzo there are different classifications. For example, Whitney Houston’s prime was often called spinto soprano by the uninformed when she was actually a lyric mezzo. Her chest voice was mid range with a great command of her head voice. Spinto is Celine Dion. As you know spintos’ chest voice is in the soprano range with limited usage of head voice. Because someone mixes well doesn’t change their tessitura, it simply allows them to access notes that would be otherwise inaccessible.
@@andremarks3073I agree she’s not a dramatic soprano, but she’s certainly not a mezzo soprano. She has always been doing her best singing at the top of her range. Not only that, but a mezzo soprano would not be able to do what she does (like mixing a D6).
