Best vocal performance of anyone anywhere. It was utter perfection. How this only has 48,000 views is so far beyond my comprehension. Absolutely beautiful.
She sang over a full fucking orchestra and like 40 people in the choir as crystal clear as class...I mean...if that's not a gift from God himself...I don't know what is. That ending note is legendary @5:57.
Agreed...I've heard her live in Myrtle Beach,SC and it's true, She's in a catagory by herself. I wish PBS released this on dvd/cd. We all would be better for having this released for the public...Can I get a Witness...
She still stands as a beacon of light in todays times! A world treasure and a voice that outways any other!. The world still needs her to this day... Much Love Mamma Patti
@@nutinman4uOh shut the hell up! She has two Grammy Awards (not that it matters because she is more amazing than the hip hop garbage) you imbecile! What's your point even though you have none? How about this? Where is your Grammy?
I tell you.....When Mama Patti gets a hold of a song one time....IT'S HERRRRRRRRSSSSS!!!! Don't care who wrote it or who performed it first........IT'S HERRRRRRRRRRRRSSSSSSSSS.
DrE L My sentiments exactly DrE L. Ms. Patti NEVER phones it in. It's all or nothing!!! People who cannot appreciate the power, purity, and uniqueness of Ms. Patti's vocal gifts are, usually, tone deaf or have a very limited view of music, melody, and interpretation. It's one of the reasons I have seen her in concert 27, yes 27 times in the last 33 years of her illustrious career. As Nicholas Ashford once said, "they have yet to make microphones that will do her voice justice. BRAVO!
Thats right! I Believe her performances are to be called Experiences than to be called just concerts. She transforms songs into living words and if you do not understand her gift then you lack taste in music.
Our QUEEN OF SOUL ,THD OTHER IS PASSED ON BOTH OF THEM ARE QUEENS REST IN HEAVEN ARETHA FRANKLIN ❤ YOU LEFT ANOTHER QUEEN TO CARRY ON ,LOVE YOU BOTH ARETHA FRANKLIN AND PATTI LABELLE AND THATS THE END OF THE QUEEN OF SOUL THERE WILL BE NO MORE.LIVE ON PATTI AND BRING OUT THE BEST WHERE ARETHA FRANKLIN LEFT OFF..
Excellence. Flawless. RAW. Not many people can bring this out of me. Her singing this song is mesmerizing. To be in that room that night with her and that choir must have been glorious. I think I would have started shouting by the second verse. Jesus, an excellent vocal show from her this was.
Thank you for posting this video. This whole concert was great. Why PBS hasn't marketed this for dvd or cd is beyond me. Also, I prefer this concert of Patti instead of her current gospel cd..This is traditional and annointed music here...
this brings a whole new meaning to pouring your heart and soul into a song. When it comes from the heartit makes a song your own and Patti does this better than anyone.
Heaven is literally missing it’s lead singer to their mass choir. But they can wait! She can move mountains with her voice, she can blow the fire outta hell with that voice. She’s truly a once in HISTORY type of singer. She’s fierce. She is Thee Patti LaBelle
I would love to see the trinity share the same stage with Patti. I think whitney will rise to the occasion and go to church. Celine will wail like she did with Aretha and Mariah will back off and be respectful. But Patti will take over. She deserves more recognition.
Would you know my name If I saw you in Heaven? Would it be the same If I saw you in Heaven? I must be strong And carry on 'Cause I know I don't belong Here in Heaven Would you hold my hand If I saw you in Heaven? Would you help me stand If I saw you in Heaven? I'll find my way Through night and day 'Cause I know I just can't stay Here in Heaven Time can bring you down Time can bend your knees Time can break your heart Have you begging please Begging please Beyond the door There's peace, I'm sure And I know there'll be no more Tears in Heaven Would you know my name If I saw you in Heaven? Would you be the same If I saw you in Heaven? I must be strong And carry on 'Cause I know I don't belong Here in Heaven 'Cause I know I don't belong Here in Heaven
oh wow i am SPEECHLESS and have chills. This performance brought me to tears but also made me feel so relaxed and calm. LIke I'm in a sanctuary. her voice is crazy
Well, he wrote that song in memory of his son which is why we get that raw emotion. But Patti's version makes you feel as if she is calling to someone she just lost as well. But I agree, nothing beats Eric's true feelings for his son.
So what?! He made for his reasons and many others can sing it for their own reason. We sing for many reasons. You have a small mind to think there is only one perspective to songs or poetry genius!
@tangled55 I loved Eric Clapton's music, and his performance of this particular number. But, to hear Miss LaBelle sing it with the Boston Pops Symphony Orchestra accompaniment blows the rest of my head off the top. Loved it. Diane Sliger
