John Carpenter made a solid modern reimagining of Rio Bravo infused with Night of the Living Dead. Assault on Precinct 13 is a great film.

Because of this channel I hear Prince singing "Oh no, let's go!" 50 times a day in my head. Thanks James!

one of my most fave Carpenter movies, watched this one on TV in the mid 80s. wow impressed. Still listen to the OST to this day.

Haha. I saw this video & came here to comment about the Kim Richard's death scene only to find that's the first thing they talked about. I saw this movie first at around 10 or 11 & when he shot the little girl I was literally opened mouthed & thought to myself "they can do that in a movie, murder a kid?". It's one of those scenes that is made for epic first reactions.

Having any girl shot like that is brutal, but doing it to the Disney girl from Escape from Witch Mountain is beyond crazy.

@Stream_King Yeah I think that was probably part of it too for me also, I'd seen those movies loads before seeing Assault for the first time.

Is it? It’s seminal and was famously sampled by Bomb The Bass.

Not in electronic music circles, often quoted as a huge influence within the Electro movement amongst many more genres.

Duane Jones played Ben, not Dwayne Johnson.

The actor who plays Napoleon, the only other thing I've seen him in is Eraserhead. He plays the receptionist at the pencil factory.

He's also in THE FOG as the Antonio Bay coroner... the scene where the corpse moves off-screen when they're all in the next room.

@@user-dh2qf5kd8c And his character's name in "The Fog" is Dr Phibes, after the character played by Vincent Price in two 70s horror flicks.

Thanks! I didn't know about the Price reference. Like John Strobel in ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK being named after Cronenberg. Carpenter loved that sort of thing.

The main convict in the movie was in "Eraserhead" too. He was working in the shop where Jack Nance got his head ground down into erasers. "Okay, Paul!"
