From 2:13 to 3:59, the camera doesn't leave Glenn Close's face, and she doesn't falter for a millisecond. This is a whole other level of brilliant acting and I'm glad they saved this fantastic, awe-worthy scene for the series finale.
"I want you to remember this moment forever, this moment of helplessness and weakness, of me looking you in the eyes and telling you how much I hate you. There's no forgiveness for you, no mercy, only death."
why do I cry every time I watch this scene? because fkn Glenn Close! God what an actress.. I get why the emmy wouldn't give it to her this year coz it'd be like favouritism when they clearly planned on giving it to her for this season and believe me she will win next year!
It would have been so easy to write this scene with Patty's usual callous bitchiness as the tone. Instead, the writers brilliantly chose to explain the characters almost clinical detachment by exposing that she is the way she is not because of trauma but despite it. That coupled with the haunting acting ability of Glenn Close makes this one of the finest moments in all of television history.
I've never seen acting like this before, I respect Claire Danes and she is one hell of an actress but comparing both of their performances assuming Glenn Close put in this episode for her emmy nom, she was robbed. This scene and the last 15 second of this episode. She's so underrated and Meryl Streep can't hold a candle to this.
