What pressure, you have two of the funniest people in the history of hollywod, and Glen Close who is not a stick in the mud...............I would imagine that the first takes or the last takes were a test of strength not to say funny things.
A beautiful, tough, rough scene. Martin Short's high-flying lawyer character too busy to check in more frequently. The receptionist lady (apologies, I don't know her actor's name) is wonderful in her small role.
"I want you to remember this moment forever, this moment of helplessness and weakness, of me looking you in the eyes and telling you how much I hate you. There's no forgiveness for you, no mercy, only death."
I love Damages TV series. I have the DVDs and each time I watch it, it gets better. It is so layered with intrigue and Glenn Close is consistently brilliant. Ted Danson also compelling. They both make the other actors seem wooden, but I think that is the point. The other characters can’t figure them out. It’s like a long drawn out game. Brilliant!
I think Short and Tomlin were so good in this series. They are obviously famous comedic actors but they shine here in a serious role. Kudos to them. [Edited for spelling.]
Just saw your comment is 2 months old. I was searching if ellen ever finds out patty let killed the dog of her sister in law? For some reason that concerns me before i can keep watching lmfao
It's been years since watched the series, @@barbarrox. And I've only wacthed seasons 1 and 2. I don't remember if Ellen learns Patty killed Saffron (the dog), but I don't think so.
Please do, @@barbarrox. I stopped at the beginning of season 3, but as a suspense and plot twists lover, I regret greatly because is a pretty good show.
She's superb in this, like she is in everything. The fact that she's had countless nominations, for Oscars imparticular, of which she's won none, from 8 nominations, settles my argument that winning awards is not the truest measure of merit in acting.
Patty's face says it all. Ellen won. The heartbreak on her face is palpable. You can see the depths of her sorrow and regret with no words spoken. That's talent.
@@CheerfullyCynical829 Yeah, what makes anyone think Ellen won? You can plainly see how her face falls when her daughter says ' but you don't do that (being a lawyer) anymore'. She just couldn't have it all
