Scarlet Witch is a glass cannon, a glass cannon refers to a character that has remarkable offensive abilities with terrible defense. Wanda’s powers are far beyond than most but at the same time she can be killed by just a random civilian with a gun. She was subdued by Hawkeye in Age of Ultron before she could even do anything to him. War Machine used a mini sonic canon on her and she was crying in pain, he could've launched a missile on her from his other hand if he wanted and she would be dead. Yes, she overpowered a no stone Thanos but Thanos is literally all physical without stones, he doesn't have any weapons that shoot something, he’s just a more powerful Hulk. If she does the same to lets say War Machine, she pulls him up in the air, there's nothing stopping War Machine to kill her using his shoulder gun. Also fun fact that most people haven't noticed in MCU yet, Scarlet Witch is completely featless against people that can fly.

My honest-to-God interpretation after watching the show: Agatha was an invention of Wanda's subconscious. Wanda needed a villain to scapegoat her self-doubt onto and ease her cognitive dissonance. Agatha appeared at exactly the right time, when Wanda's psyche was starting to crack apart. She explains away all of the shortcomings that allowed Wanda's hex to fail. She even has her own theme music!

Also, my reading is that Monica *was* mind controlled until Wanda gave birth and mentioned something about having a twin. That reminded Monica about Ultron, something from outside the hex, and that enabled her mind to break out. Presumably you could break any of the hexed people free of mind control at least temporarily by talking to them about their real lives.

Why does vision just look like an android when they're taking him apart? Wasn't the whole point of Ultron creating him that he was basically an organic being with vibranium infused into its cells? They should be dissecting a metal human... or failing to dissect him since vibranium is virtually indestructible.

Why am I not surprised to see Kevin "the hack" Smith there in the crowd clapping about subverting out expectations. He later did the same by making a He-Man show without He-Man, and was surprised how it was downvoted to oblivion.

Mild take. I feel the show would have been exponentially cooler if the show almost entirely took place in the town, and we incrementally learned what was happening ARG style. When I was watching it with my roommates, we usually checked out at the MARVEL-y parts, and that's why the show got really boring for us after the fourth episode. Wouldn't it have been cooler to keep the rules of the the sitcom going when all that crazy Rune stuff was happening? Imagine the whole show takes the tone of M*A*S*H or something, and they bust out some real heartfelt emotions from the townsfolk, but it's still a sitcom. That would have been incredible. But no one would like it because if explosions, sexual tension, or crappy jokes aren't happening every three minutes, the average Marvel viewer would probably just check out.

This is why I hate timeskips. For me, even if the results of the timeskip makes sense, it ruins any buildup and attachment I’d have for a character’s growth. That’s part of the reason why I thought SnK/AoT peaked at the RtS arc for example. As wonderfully written as the War for Paradis arc was, the timeskip made the later 40% of the series feel like a sequel series revival that occurs after a book or show is canceled, rather than the next arcs in that same series. Same applies to IW/Endgame and its consequences to WandaVision. I understand it’s film and you can’t exactly pick up where you left off like you can in literature or animation, but there was a set flow of time between each film’s release to accommodate for that, so it never felt completely offputting. Since the time between movie releases was so jam-packed, times between main character arcs never exceeded that of a year and a half. Now take Endgame, and we see these incredible jumps in character that, while totally on course for the direction said character was going, we never get to see that journey over the course of the 5 years. While not that huge of an issue with respect to WandaVision on its own, the fact that there’s little to no talk about the pure shock and impact 5 years passing would have on someone is baffling to me. Wanda lost Vision, and the friends she knew that survived the snap now have gone YEARS without her, moving on and getting on with their lives. Besides Vision, they’d be the only people she could count on, but now half of them are either strangers now or fucking gone. I’d expect that to contribute to her trauma, or hell, at least show her the life she could have had if she was given the opportunity to properly grieve, but somehow that particular consequence of the timeskip isn’t handled? We get more of it in Falcon and the Winter Soldier with regards to residence/housing and the changing world politics, but somehow the emotional shock of a timeskip in which a snapped person would go through isn’t talked about? Despite being a comic relief character, Scott Lang is the only one who gets this moment due to his relationship with his daughter. I honestly wish we got more scenes dealing with the shock of seeing how snapped characters reacted to the world being so different, because to us, we are in the same position as them. Letting us latch on to these characters who have to deal with the rapid changes in development of their friends and family would have made the timeskip feel more meaningful and consequential, you know? We’d be desperately trying to pick up where we left off with characters the same time the snapped ones would, which would make the shock feel ever so more real, and would honestly justify the off-screen development since it would actually serve a purpose… Also, if the mental effects of the hex can be undone by a non-real Vision via her connection to the mind stone, then isn’t it possible for the hex to exist WITHOUT the mind control and voices? At that point, it would simply just be a barrier that allows her family to exist within. If she has full control now, I see no reason why she can’t have her cake and eat it too in this case. The only issue would be the act of repeatedly crossing the barrier causing fucking powers lmao

I can answer at least one of these questions. The Darkhold isn't just a book _about_ magic; the book itself is magical. One of its magical properties is that it presents its contents in the reader's native language, framed in a context the reader can most readily understand.

Grief can resurface whether you've accepted it or just put on a brave face, so that wouldn't be anything but human.

I do writing projects in my free time, and I hope to get them published someday. When I am struggling with a scene I try to think like one of these reviews, and look for problems. Sometimes I have to rework the entire story because one scene or plot device doesn't work. It's hard to start over, but every time I write a new draft the story improves drastically. I think a lot of half-baked shows are bad because the writers didn't push themselves to make the script as good as it could be. They thought up the plot, and they wrote scenes that were good enough for what they wanted.

Although I still like the show, yea, it has problems. Same with Falcon and Winter Soldier really. The best part of Wandavision was mostly the sitcom stuff, when it’s back to the main plot however, it stumbles.

I think the biggest problem with Wandavision was the insistence of sticking with the traditional good guy, bad guy story. I originally thaught it was going to lean harder on Wanda accidently trapping herself inside her own spell. It was kinda disappointing when they introduced the Agatha Harkness plot.

Why is Dr. Strange not involved in any of this? He pulled Thor and Loki aside for just showing up in Thor Ragnarok, they didn't even do anything yet. But Wanda does all this horrifying stuff and there's crickets. Isn't it his job to protect reality from dangerous magic users like her?

Wanda could simply shrink the hex to the size of the mind stone and put it in the forehead of dead Vision. The End.

I kinda watched this with the assumption that Wanda doesn’t care about being a hero anymore, she just wants her “perfect life”, which excused the actual-torture she did in my mind (from a plothole perspective). I just hope this actually carries over and she’s portrayed as a mentally unhinged person in the sequels, and doesn’t try to use this ending as a “she was bad but now she’s good” play

Jac Schaefer had a different explanation for Fietro-they wanted to play with the idea that at a stage of grief one has anxieties of forgetting the face of their lost loved one. They wanted to bring Pietro back, but with a different face (not Aaron Taylor Johnson), to add to wanda’s desperation to have her loved ones back. But using a random guy wouldn’t be enjoyable for e audience bc it’d obviously be a fake pietro or a ploy. So they used Evan Peters because he isn’t obviously fake to the audience. Again, the identity of pietro is directly linked to the Agatha reveal, so his reveal was supposed to enhance the Agatha reveal and answer some questions.

I was wrong. I spent a lot of time trying my best to stay in a mentality that says this show is good. I wasn’t defending Wanda, but I was trying to say that people were putting too much blame on her saying Wanda was unaware of the Hex. All of that goes away with one scene. In episode 5, she leaves the Hex, fully aware she took a town hostage and threatens Hayward and says Westview is her home. Ok, so she’s just a psychopath then. Wanda was probably my one mu favorite characters before Phase 4. I was a stupid MCU fanboy, but now I realise, Phase 4 really sucks. The only things I liked were Moon Knight and No Way Home. This video also helped me realise WandaVision sucks, so thanks a lot. Frankly, I love this channel and I’m so glad I stumbled upon it. Subscribed.

She can just walk around Shield because she and most of all the avengers received pardons from the US Government. Sharon Carter did not get a pardon though and at the end of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, we see her get her pardon like the rest of the Avengers. The accords might still be in place but that shouldn't limit where she can or can't walk. It just gave the United Nations control of the Avengers as they are too powerful to be left unsupervised and able to do whatever they please.

I don’t think there’s any inconsistency in Wanda’s feelings about Vision’s death. Just because someone acts fine one day doesn’t mean their emotions can’t spill over later. You have to keep in mind how much stuff happened to Wanda right after Vision died. His death was immediately followed by Thanos’s victory, which was immediately followed by Wanda being thrown five years until the future, which was immediately followed by some sorcerer calling her to help fight Thanos’s army over the ruins of the Avengers compound, which was followed by Iron Man dying. From her perspective that all happened in one day. It probably took her a while to process it all. Also, if she assumed that she would be able to give Vision a proper burial, then having that taken away from her, along with being reminded of the life they could have had together, could easily open up wounds she thought were healed. Also, this is the first time we’ve seen her alone after a life of seeing all the people closest to her die. When Pietro was killed, the Avengers took her in, and Vision comforted her. But this time the Avengers have seemingly all gone their separate ways, leaving Wanda to cope alone for the first time in her life. I think her outburst makes perfect sense under the circumstances. You say Monica was never brainwashed like the others, but I don’t think that’s true. I think she forgot who she was the instant she was sucked into the Hex and she only “woke up” after Wanda mentioned Pietro. This was the first time Wanda was shown talking about the past and I believe that in doing so, she momentarily loosened her grip on Monica’s mind, allowing her to also remember the past and break character. “WandaVision Writer Didn't Want Quicksilver Cameo to Feel Like a 'Prank'” She actually said that? That has to be a lie. Or else she is either really stupid or irresponsibly ignorant about the franchise she’s contributing to. There is no possible way she couldn’t have foreseen, or have pointed out to her, how people would interpret Fiektro’s casting. Anyway, the English audio description for the show explicitly refers to him as “the X-Men version of Quicksilver,” so other people on the crew clearly thought it was a prank. I would be fine with it personally, if it wasn’t for that audio description. Like, it’s ok if you misdirect us, but don’t just LIE to us.

I think Pietro gained super speed because of Wanda, not Agatha. Pietro wasn’t shown using super speed until after he was introduced to Wanda as the real Pietro. Wanda is actively altering reality so if she perceived Pietro as the real one, then I suppose he would be altered physically to fit that image. Not that this guess is true or means anything since they failed to explain it in the show.

As for shooting the gap between two illusory children, I can relate. Whenever I get overwhelmed in an FPS, I tend to shoot at the center of a group of enemies, so I often end up shooting into empty space. But yeah, this did have some interesting ideas, but it doesn't sound like the best Star Trek: The Next Generation episode

Tommy and Billy got their respective powers because they were created by Wanda, not biologically made when she and Vision consummated. She gave Tommy the speed to mirror Pietro's and Billy his powers to mirror hers.

The evil military man was my least favorite inconsistency because Narcy, Monika, Wu find out he's trying to get Vision because we're all told that Wanda stole Vision from STAR labs but it ends up he's had Vision's body the whole time.

The worst part is since none of this is real Wanda can literally just say "oh ok" move to the middle of nowhere and create her own reality again. NOTHING is stopping her from doing that. Everyone had no problem with her play acting and deluding herself it was the fact she was using other people to do it.

Let me remind you that Pietro was already shat on 2 times. They kill him in the first movie he appears with almost no character development done and then they use him as a d**k joke in Wandavision. Wouldn't it have been better to have them pair off against each others rivals (Wanda against evil vision, vision against witch lady whose name I definitely remember)? Like, they probably know each others weaknesses better than their own. There's probably even a metaphor in there somewhere. Wanda even killed Vision once so she’s got experience on her side.

I agree with some of your points but there are a few I disagreed with. Firstly it's pretty obvious that Wanda has been pardoned from what happened thanks to her participating in the battle against Thanos, that didn't really need to get explained but it was anyway in falcon and the winter soldier made very clear. Wanda making those runes I see a lot of people misunderstanding it its not like she memorized it or made up her own runes. This goes to a fundemental misunderstanding with Wanda's abilities. You can kinda think of it as skipping the process kind of like the infinity stones to Ina sense. She doesn't have to actually think about how to do something she simply has to intend to do something. Same with expanding the hex its like an instinct if she wants to do something it happens without any effort on her part that is what makes her unique. Her magic works entirely on its own to achieve her desires. Although therein lies a few problems which comes down to her lack of knowledge concerning witchcraft. That is why she says she wants to understand the power and how to properly use it so she doesn't make the same mistakes she did in her original spell. As for the vision thing its a little ambiguous but I understand it as vision was deliberately broke apart to incite Wanda to reactivate him based on a theory by Hayward. If the deassembled him that many times they have sufficient knowledge to reassemble him efficiently also there is no reason why their technology would be inefficient. Nowhere in infinity war is it said that wakanda is the only place with the technology to remove the stone only that it is a place and captain America likely chose it for short notice and his personal connection to black panther who is literally the king and can get them help quickly.

Never been into the MCU much (and I especially avoided age of ultron) so learning Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver aren't just Magnetro's children and mutants is already a major breach in my understanding of Marvel. Disney really should have just used the infinity gauntlets to put things back "right but a little different" and reset the continuity so it makes sense in line with Marvel (including mutants, the X-gene, and etc after buying Fox). Edit: You joke, but 24:50 actually happens in DC comics.

What baffles me (aside from all of the points made in this video, that is) is that they couldn’t even use White Vision to resurrect Ultron. Given how fast and loose they played with Wanda’s powers, it wouldn’t be much of a stretch to suggest that Wanda’s wrath created a magical duplicate of Ultron to match the duplicate of Vision. (I realize this is not a great idea on its own and would be very hard to pull off in a satisfying way. However, it would at least introduce some tangible consequence that Wanda couldn’t simply handwave away or ignore.)

Thanks for this vid. I honestly was mixed on Wanda's decisions because despite her suffering she was mentally enslaving people and they were in pain, but for some reason afterwards I "understood". I think what elevated my decision was the manipulation the show does to make Wanda seem innocent. I.e., the slow-sappy music, the crappy inspirational quotes from Monica, Vision and others, how they flanderized the military guy, the Asian CIA dude, and making the agents and civilians as random stock NPCs. Everything was changed to make Wanda look good and I admit, as Wanda did to the people, they fooled me. I appreciate you bringing this into a new light and breaking the disillusion.

The only noticable problem I saw in this show is in the last episode when Rambo gets in front of the kids to protect them from the bullets... yet the bullets weren't even going to hit them anyways, she just gets in between them and takes the bullet.

Setting aside a few other oversimplified assumptions, I think the idea is that the vision corpse was just a show to get wanda emotional and maybe try using her energy (which in a lame way was gathered to subsequently activate the other vision), considering the "throwaway line" about how SWORD changed its full form to involve "sentient weapon", which sorta implies they started working on that not too long after the snap. Also, from what I understood, the whole idea of this show was to demonstrate that wanda is not a "hero", but more of a punisher style antihero with self assigned moral bottom lines and focus solely on personal goals over anything else, an extrapolation of her actions that led to the Sokovia Accords. Not to say the plot isn't inconsistent, but to say every new information is a retcon in a shared cinematic plot is like saying every agatha christie novel is a retcon when it misdirects the whole time and reveals the murderer to be someone else

11:04 It could be argued that Wanda doesn't know how genetics work and the imaginary children she has with Vision (who has the mind stone in him) could be the cause of that kid's powers. I think the fact that the two boys aren't exactly real gives them room to have all kinds of powers as long as Wanda believes it to be true.
