@@martydibergi5228I agree. I can't put into words how much I miss this style of music on the radio. Everyone wants to talk about Waylon or Luke Bryan but for me, I'll always be stuck in the middle, in the '90s... because damn, the instruments had drive like no other decade. I'm grateful we have it on record to still listen to. I'm a musician myself and love and appreciate all the greats of Nashville back then like Brent Mason, Pig Robbins, etc. I grew up listening to it on the tractor and I'm ready for this kind of country to make a complete comeback!
What is amazing is that Patty Loveless and Dwight Yoakam were born in the same town of less than 7000 people within 3 months of each other. What are the odds of that with two absolute Legends.
Patty was born in my mom’s hometown of Elkhorn City in Pike County Kentucky. I don’t think Dwight was born there. He was born in Pikeville, which is about 30 miles from Elkhorn . But you were close.😊
@@LadyMacbeth56 KY gave us all the best actual real country singers. Loveless, Yoakim, Judds, Stapleton, Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson, Loretta Lynn, Keith Whitley, Montgomery Gentry. No state has produced more great genuine country acts
Patty truly deserves to be in the Country Music Hall of Fame. She was one of the most important female artists in the 80's and 90's in country music. Edit: On April 3rd, 2023: Patty, along with Tanya Tucker and Bob McDill were announced as the newest inductees into the Country Music Hall of Fame! Congrats to all 3 very deserving newest members! 😊
Patty Loveless is pure country and a great artist she did a song on the Troubadour album with the King of Country Music George Strait as a tribute to the man in black Johnny Cash. Congratulations on being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame
@@shirleys765 she is. The Kentucky Music Hall of Fame in 2011. Along with Keith Whitley and John Michael Montgomery. A little Google search wouldn't kill you.
@@SpiritedSoul1986 I know that but I'm talking about the Country Music Hall of Fame. And by the way, Keith Whitley was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville this year. Maybe you should do your research.
Just saw and heard Patty perform an acoustic version of this at the CMHOF museum in Nashville. She was UNBELIEVEABLE all these years later. It was as if time stood still. Her voice sounded exactly the same and even better! Patty Loveless is a legend!!
My son was 9 when this song came out. Memories of singing in the car and trying not to flub the lyrics. We still can do it together in 2020! Love you T!
The women in 90s country were hot and good!! So much better than what we’ve been served nowadays!! Give me Patty Loveless, Kathy Mattea, Lorrie Morgan, Mary Chapin Carpenter, some others I can’t think of AND Shania Twain Any day!!!
I miss this old country music. I hate this new crap they have now. I was raised on Dwight Yoakam, Keith Whitley, Patty Loveless, and so many greats. They have all influenced my singing in some way.
@@EJNOVA and Alison Krauss too. I cannot stand how they no longer play the "older" stuff with the new, just the same songs over and over and over again, it's exhausting, but some of the new is quite good as well, as far as the lyrics go--- not so much the singers the industry "attaches" to sing them. I totally blame this new trend on Taylor Swift and I hate to say this but Shania Twain too even though she is a great performer live (Saw her in Vegas great show).
When my Mom was younger, she sounds a lot like Patty Loveless before Patty Loveless was around singing Country. Now my Mom is 73 years old and she can still sing but not like she did when she was in her late 20s and early 30s. I love hearing Patty Loveless sing
Had the privilege of seeing Patty in Atlanta doing a charity event concert , she came out in a purple sequence skirt and sang us into a love trance for life...she was sensational .Loved her music before seeing her ; bought everything I could find by her after that show . She is better in person than on the radio...the real deal that girl can sing !!!!
Boy, that girl in the white blouse he's hitting on sure is cute ! One of the best songs by Patty. She's probably my fave singer in country (Reba is huge too). I love her mountain music, have 3 or 4 of those albums .
BEAUTIFUL AND HER SINGING IS A BIG PLUS, THUMBS UP,I LOST MY DAUGHTER TO COVED THIS YEAR,SHE WAS 53YRS OLD,AND LOVED HER FAMILY AND HER JOB,AND SHE WAS A GRANDMA TO A BABY BOY,GOD GIVES US SUCH A GREAT LIFE,AND TIME IS UNKNOWN,AND WHEN IT STAND'S STILL FOR SOME,AND LIFE GO'S ON,AND JUST HAVE TO DO OUR BEST AND GO ON,WITH OUR MEMORY 'S.
Well I guess we can blame your daughter's death on the Chinese government since THEY were the ones who ordered a virus of which a certain cure would be hard to find or come by and that was how COVID was invented. The next time the Chnese prime minister orders the creation of a new virus, he's gonna have to be brighter than the last time if he wants the next virus to be permanent (which none of us would want).
I remember riding in the front seat of my auntie's Delta 88 with the velvet seats while she sang this song and smoked. The early 90s were a different time
This was a great time for country music by fantastic gals, like Carlene Carter, Pam Tillis and of course Patty Loveless who brought down the house with this mega hit, circa 1993.Many others too, but this one hits home a bit more.Must be the lyrics.
Alex...I just got back to another day of Carlene and clicked on your steer to Patty. Great song, love this video. But I got to thinking Jutta and replayed Carlene's goodies. I bet my virgin ass, Jutta could do wonders with Carlene. Oh, well, just a thought, Thanks again for the steer to Patty.
One of the most fun and upbeat Patty Loveless songs and one of the most famous ones that I have been listening since I was quite young on the Aviano US base in the northern region in Italy where I was born and raised and grew up falling in love with country music. Angela Umbria Italy
THS is one of the best country music songs I EVER heard. AND I'M old country music fan....but this was just as good as anything I heard in the past, and that says A LOT. Great singer and beautiful woman!
You've got that right. This song is what it's all about. The lyrics themselves tell it all. If there's others that Don't Like This Music. " Well Don't Listen To It." Simple as that right!!! Greatest Music To Listen To Oh Yeah. 👍👍👍👍👍😘
STILL an aweomensong! Great video too! Not sure if shes still around or not. 80s & 90s country was awesome! Whos listening in 2024? If so youre awesome! ❤❤❤❤
Of course Patty Loveless is still around, I got to watch Patty Loveless on the Grand Ole Opry Show this past Saturday on my cell phone ok and Patty Loveless looked really really good and beautiful and gorgeous and stunning as well ok and also Patty Loveless has a beautiful singing voice as well ok. Believe me, Patty Loveless is still around ok.
Yes it's a decent version but not quite as good as the composer's. Incidentally, I wonder what happened to Kostas; he released a great album ('Xs in moderation') but seems to have disappeared. Dwight Yoakum was a fan.
I love her too. Fought for a spot at the fair to see her get some autograph s. Selfies made. Amazing concert will see her every chance I get. Rocking with Patty in 2021 . Hell yeah!!
The whole South is filled with musical talent of every kind they're kilts basically and celts are very artistic and very musical there's just something different about southerners
That was so great to see him in the video as I’m a huge king fan and came here to check out the song after reading about it in Stephen King book “dreamcatcher” 💖
