@@carycomic1954 zydeco music is slightly different and uses different instruments. Zydeco typically uses a piano accordion versus the Cajun accordion, for example. There’s also musicians that do a mix of the two called Zyde-Cajun. This is Cajun music.

you said it. I was only 1 when this was released but I remember hearing it alot in the early 90s. I mean there's a couple good songs today but pretty much every one on my itunes playlist ranges from the late 70s to 1999, with a couple from maybe 2006-2007. A majority of the songs are from 1990-1994. There's so many singers out there today that I just do not like at all, like Rascal Flatts for example. It's too "pop" now.

Something about this song. It gets my toes tapping like no other. Hard to believe an Ivy League educated Jersey girl can be so connected to music that by all rights SHOULD be foreign to her. But I swear listening to and watching her I'd swear she was a born in the bayou coonass. I've heard it said that music is music, and any musician can cross genres. I guess Mary Chapin Carpenter proves that point.

Tom Swinburn I found something very interesting. Now I don't have a hearing problem (just some ringing). So I just made a playlist (TINNITUS RELIEF). If you have any ringing in the ears from listening to loud music over the years - it might help you. But first, set your computer volume at half way (and the volume on the videos at half way). Then listen (with a decent headphone set) through the playlist (I only went about half way through with the 12,000 Hz video) and so far at 40 min. the ringing is just starting to come back (but still lower than before I did this). Note, before I found this channel with these videos, I did go online to a site called online tone generator - and I could hear up to approximately 11,000 Hz. So I thought it best to listen to videos above 11,000 Hz (you may have to listen to other videos though with your test results). Note, the tone generator on that site goes up too fast (so you will have to start / stop it a lot to pinpoint where your hearing ends). And note, I did not listen to music today - before I did this. So I started the playlist at my "ringing baseline." Try it - if needed.

@@toddgiaro7657 Very True Todd, I think that is by design, too. I think the powers that be are pushing these weak songs, which have no heart and soul to them, no meaning, no feelings, nothing at all. Like you said, they'll talk about trucks, and drinking beer, partying, and girls... just a bunch of meaningless excess. Not that there's anything wrong with happy, uplifting music, but the country music of today is just frivolous. There's nothing deep or spiritual about it. They're trying to make us all into shallow consumers who just shut our minds off and never think critically about anything. They don't want us to question their narratives or disobey their constant manipulation of society so they can shape it in whatever image they want, which is a weak, brainless, malleable populace who serves the elites and doesn't rock the boat.

I'm a musician and play in a country band and it's amazing how people only want to talk about the extremely old country or the brand new country but as a musician, the sounds I hear in 90's Country are unmatched and there's virtually no way possible someone can't like it. If you got tired of Country, I can't blame you because I did too (new country) but tune in to 90's Country and maybe some late 80's and you'll hear the best music that ever came out of Nashville.

Great performance by Mary here, although personally I think she is at her best doing more reflective stuff - her songwriting skills are demonstrated on the many wonderful albums she has made and is still making. She is in my opinion one of the best lyricists in country music.
