this may seem like a daft question which is which on the engine diesel pipes is the clear going in the feed and the black pipe the return am not sure which is which on mine as going to test start it on the floor cheers
If you are starting on the floor you will need to run the fuel pump anyway , is your inline fuel filter still connected,? If so that will be the line to engine and the other will be the return. I have a first start up video think at the end you get a look at what I did (basically just dumped a pump in a tray of clean diesel) 👍

Hi Paul, great videos, I'm looking to drop a 530d and will need loads of advice. Did you have to change the steering box to a P38 one in order to keep the air-con compressor on the m57? or did you retain the 300tdi steering box? some people say they have struggled with space for the aircon compressor when using the 300tdi box...
hi mate - i just kept the 300tdi standard steering box - its very close but can be done - check out my alignment of engine ready for mounts video - should answer some of your questions
Hi Paul. Thanks for this video- it's quite insightful. Please tell me more about the radiator- did you use a LR Puma radiator? I thought you'd use a M57 one due to the positioning of the hose pipes? How does that fit in? Would I also need a different intercooler or can I use the one on my 300 TDi?
Hi Eric - so I didn’t use the 300tdi rad and intercooler as they are quite small and pipe locations are not great for this. The x5 e53 rad is way too tall and intercooler too wide - I’m currently fitting my radiator, big intercooler, aircon condenser and trans cooler - Stay tuned I’ll hopefully have it uploaded this weekend if not definitely next with all the details 👍👍 Thanks for comment and please share these vids about it will help 👍👍
