This is an all-time great action fight to my viewing. Banke made the strategic adjustment from the first fight of stepping in to Zaragoza for much of the fight, thus taking away his preferred range.
Banke paid a heavy toll in shots taken but also allowed him to trade power shots with Zaragoza when Zaragoza didn't clinch in those exchanges. Banke opened up multiple cuts and did damage even when not winning rounds. Credit Banke for legitimately stopping one of the toughest nuts to crack in the history of this division. Rounds 3,5, and 6 are wild action rounds on par with Corrales/Castillo or Ward/Burton.
what a blood and guts warrior zaragoza was. he knew he was finished even a round or two before and still he choosed to keep fighting and lost on his terms.
In its prime, Forum Boxing (brainchild of the late Dr. Jerry Buss) was second-to-none. I saw some great fights there in the late 1980’s-early 1990’s - this was one of them.
I can't understand how with prodigious fight has not been "Fight of the year" at the place of the scandalous Chavez/Taylor:did Don King also controled Ring Magazine???
