I’m still surprised how many people seem to completely misunderstand why Paul wants to marry the princess. This entire universe is based on political alliance. Paul needs support of the Great Houses, the Spacing Guild, and others, so that his claim to the throne has legitimacy. Otherwise he’s going to spend his entire rule fighting off challenges to his legitimacy. Now I think the mistake that this movie made was Paul not explaining that to Chani ahead of time. But he will never share Irulan’s bed and he will never give her children. This is for political gain only. It’s exactly the same situation that his father had with Jessica. Remember, he never married Jessica. This was so that he kept his hand open for political alliance through marriage, even if it was only optics and he never had any intention to marry.
So Paul marries Irulan for political protection from both the Bene Gesserit and the royal court. But I hope Irulan will be real Empress in Dune 3. In book she is useless.
As reactors, most of the time they skip seeing it in theaters so they can watch it at home and react to it for content for their channel. Nothing fake about it
