I don't get why other than he's had internet hype since 2005. His straight edge personality is grating to the point people can barely drink tea or coffee around him, he isn't that great of a technical wrestler he's more of a high flyer, ALL his promos end up being the same thing, him whineing about never having the oppotunity to prove himself yet has been able to do nothing BUT THAT in every company he's gone to and also whineing about the wrestlers who don't like him. Media hype and nothing more :/.
If you go back a watch this particular show you will see that there was also a quicker transition between matches. Heyman lured the crowd in but the backstage wasn't taking any chances.
Paul just knows the business like the back of his damn hand! Any other person would have been afraid that the crowd would have eaten them alive, but he took it as a challenge and a way to engage with the fans. Definitely a man who loves the wrestling business & the fans.
I’m a permanent Paul heyman guy. He’s the reason I never stopped watching wwe. Whether offscreen or on. This man made it entertaining by taking a chance on ppl not thought of as the ideal wrestler. Ppl who made it relatable I don’t drink or do drugs (except for metformin for the diabeetus) and around the time cl punk arrived I always thought I was the only one. I didn’t even know what straight edge was (I don’t consider myself that) but it made me feel good to not be alone.
I remember that night so well. Hijack raw was trending all day, everyone was expecting an absolute storm on tv and within a few minutes in a promo, Paul Heyman let them all get it outta their systems in one fell swoop. Absolutely genius!
In a sense Paul worked the crowd, but in another sense, the crowd worked too. They got to have someone speak about Punk on his behalf on national television in an articulate way that crowd chants never could. He made the crowd feel heard. The crowd didn't have anything else to say because Paul said it for them.
I was there I was 11 with my older brother and I remember being so mad when he came out because we wanted cm punk but was pretty cool to see Batista because his Pyro you could feel the ground shaking
I hate how Paul Hammond doesn't get his respect on the mic. Everybody is always talking about Cena or Rock or Miz, but Paul's name never comes up in these discussions.
You want a story teller you call paul heyman you want a ranting lunatic you call jim Cornette lol both are equally entertaining i just haven't heard Jim speak below a pissed off scream since smokey mountain wrestling
The only way to handle a rowdy, pissed off Chicago crowd is to throw the guy that ran ECW out there to ease everything lol Paul Heyman is the guy that can handle pissed off people in an arena 😂😂
Heyman is always working..if he "shoots" about working..he is working..if he is backstage..he is working....if he talks to his colleagues..he is working them..if he looks in the mirror..well than he is just lying...
