I love how the opposition just sat there and took it most of the time. It's like a school principal dressing down a classroom.

Being mauled by a dead sheep and hit with a wet lettuce... I remember the days when public discourse was savagely witty instead of witlessly savage.

''Been mauled by the dead sheep and hit with a warm lettuce'' lmao what an analogy! :))) 1:09 I was 'hit' by those analogies while been mauled by the witt! lol

I love the way he finished every statement off. Always a great closing line to twist the knife when you thought he couldn't twist it any more.

He starts spinning the knife with one hand in your gut, and then when that arm goes dead he switches to the other one... and that one is his dominant hand.

It is interesting to compare the gestures and expressions of backbenchers then and now. Seems like in Keating's time there was a lot more laughing and general carrying on. These days the MPs are media trained to lean forward and have an intent stare, nodding while a frontbencher makes a point from the dispatch box.

Howard promised to put Australia to sleep again from reform fatigue within the population, basically promised to do nothing and no need to think about anything

He was perceived as arrogant. I met him on occasion, and he was always very polite, but was blunt with grifters. Never found him rude to a member of the public. More like bemused and jovial when insulted.

This is back when people understood the point of question time, make light hearted fun of your political opponents and call them out for things they say outside of parliament, not its just being nasty and discussing policy, not on real terms but as talking points from either side. question time isn't for debate like most people think it is

Agree it’s not the forum for proper policy discussion but QT is indeed serious / it’s not just a banter session
