Meeting our heroes. So great you could shake Paul's hand .he really seems to appreciate that gesture! He was also very engaged in the conversation and kept eye contact the whole time. Paul has always been a class act.One of those those moments to cherish for a lifetime.
I met Beach Boy Al Jardine when the band played Salt Lake City 50 year anniversary and he wouldn't shake my hand. But he did say thanks for coming to the concert:)
Two great bits: 1. When Mike says to Paul, "First, I want to shake your hand, and Paul replies, "Oh, I bet you say that to all the girls." Very cleverly understated, hinting at his own song, "I Want To Hold Your Hand"...lol 2. Then there was Mike's amusing comeback at him, which Paul obviously relished and made him click right away with Mike as a person. Thanks! for sharing.
30 years to be exact! And yea - you'd think it'd be the natural progression for him. There are SO many wonderful jazz standards he could have sung excellently.
Interviewer: "Help me clear up years of debate! So in your song "X" you added this sophisticated F sharp minor third sus to-the-third power into a melodic transition that sounds like a tribute to T-Bone Walker?" McCartney: "Actually it was a goof. I screwed up the chord I meant to play, but sounded so good I just left it in."
Woah! This is so cool! Paul made me want to play music again after a 5 year long hiatus. Your channel has also been a big part of that adventure, so this was cool to watch.
Don’t reckon Paul knew what an accomplished guitar player you were Mike ESPECIALLY regarding Beatles music and your knowledge And appreciation of their work , I think Mike is as capable as Paul
what an incredible opportunity to ask him that! My dream band was always Paul McCartney backed up by Phil Keaggy and you! I mean if you guys wouldn't mind-lol.
Nice! I got to meet Paul at a similar situation - you weren't at the NYC press conference were you? That's where I was and had been hired by the Friends of the Earth to take photos of the press conference and especially of Paul with the President of FOTE, which I did, along with photographing the 3 songs they did for the press. After the mini concert, I got rushed backstage to photograph Paul and the Pres. When I say "rushed" it was because I had put my flash down on top of my camera bag, and they wouldn't even allow me the time to pick it up! So, I found myself in a dark backstage area in front of Paul being expected to take photos. (I couldn't even talk; I was speechless.) Paul being the photographer that he is, saw my dilemma and said, "Do you want me to stand over there?" and he pointed to the umbrella light set up left by someone, which was about a dozen ft. or so away. I just nodded, and we moved over, and I took 2 photos of Paul & the Pres., which came out great. Whew! Later that night I got to go to the concert he held at a Broadway theater. Interesting you were in Tampa, since that's where I live now.
Both Paul and you are nice guys Mike. Does he know, how good a musician you really are Mike? I mean, you sound better playing beatles songs, than the four liverpool lads I heard back in the sixties.
Great video. Thanks for sharing. I saw the Tripping the Live Fantastic tour back in 91 ( i think) in my hometown, liverpool. A great performance following the FITD album. Did you spend much time talking with Paul after this?
@@MPfrance that's brilliant. I've met his brother Mike few times. Mainly when out shopping for groceries, but never Paul. One day, maybe, we'll make it happen 😂😂😂
Well even if something DID happen to THAT autograph - I have five other McCartney signed photos and concert programs. I got to hang out with him a half-dozen times.
Mike Pachelli that’s really priceless you have all those momentos- it’s great you’re doing these videos with so much education for those too young to have been around when the Beatles were performing I like the facts and stories you tell along with tech instruction- First class channel!
Haven't lived in Tampa in decades. Moved to Chicago, then Los Angeles - currently living in Nashville right now but in the process of moving to the South of France.
I did it for 10 years back in the 80's and 90's and like anything - even tho' it was very fun with a zillion perks and payed very well - it got old. Plus I had to live in Florida and the heat was too much to bear.
I really wasn't. I've been with Paul on a number of occasions. He's always very approachable and mellow. I used to see him eating (alone) at Whole Foods in L.A. regularly. He's just a normal guy who happens to have a lot of talent, luck and the good fortune of working with John Lennon at a very early age!
