@@user-fu2mi1nd5l Well, he's got 2 years on me, so it's going to be close for me I think....lol Any other human who consumed the amount of booze & drugs as him, should have been gone long ago. But Keith just keeps jamming on stage. It's amazing.
One of the greatest musical moments in human history was Denny Laine singing "Go Now". Let's not forget the great backing harmonies on that record from his band mates. I am so lucky to have been alive during this period of history. RIP
had the pleasure of seeing Denny perform the entire 'Band on the Run' album in 2015 here in Cleveland. What a show! He really loved performing and spoke very highly of his time with Linda and 'Mr.McCartney'!
Oh okay mate. Thank you so much for filling me in on this vast treasure house of knowledge that you bring forth. I am forever in your debt, supposedly. @@CB-xr1eg
I remember seeing Denny with my late friend Peter Hunt at the Carlton Club in Erdington Birmingham in the 60s with the Diplmats and the Moody Blues. R I P.
❤ love Denny❤ Linda, Paul, and Denny were exactly 1/3 each of the Wings' glamor. I love Denny singing The note you never wrote, Spirit of ancient Egypt with Paul doing backing vocals with Linda. RiP Denny. You live in our hearts. Always in our hearts❤❤❤
RIP Denny, loved the work you and Paul did, Red Rose Speedway, Band on the Run, Venus and Mars albums were usually playing at my home in the early to mid 70's loved the guitar and harmonies of Wings, the 75/76 tour Wings over America movie i still love to watch and listen, such fantastic music and diverse.
So sorry to hear of the passing of Denny Laine. A very good singer-songwriter who formed one of my favourite bands of all time the Moody Blues. My condolences to his wife and family. RIP Denny.🙏
Mr. Denny Laine, such a straight up and classy gentleman. Had the privilege of meeting him and speaking music with him at several Beatlefests. I had taken a couple of album covers for him to autograph, at the time he was charging about 20 bucks for his signing, but when I was about to pay he waved it off and said that he couldn't charge me because he considered me a true fan of his music. I had mentioned to him about possibly talking to his first group the Moody Blues in playing at the San Diego State University outdoor theater in the upcoming summer. He didn't know the venue existed and told him I had seen several groups like Santana play there. The next summer the Moodies played a concert there. Seeing him the next time around at another Beatlefest I mentioned that I had seen the Moodies in concert at SDSU. He said he remembered me telling him that and thanked me for the referral. What A great guy! R.I.P Denny
Denny was largely under appreciated, he was a great musician, singer and songwriter...Paul's wife Linda to stick by him and stay in the band the full run, He wrote song , with and without Paul. Wonder if Paul would have been able to form Wings without him, at least in the form of band it became. It is my impression that Denny was amiable and could work with Paul with ease compared anyone else in the band that came and went. RIP Denny you done good!
The band on the run album from 1973 more than likely wouldn't of happened if it wasn't for denny laines guitar ability. If not the album, then most certainly the songs underlined guitar parts! I was extremely lucky my parents, both gone now, brought me up, influenced me on the greatest music that spanned the 1960's, 70's & 80's. Uk. Music that was from different avenues above anything of today, the talent that makes life so much easier to live. There will never be musicians that came out of the baby boomer generation like this ever again.
@@toddblanks McCartney and Denny were the band. I was impressed how Denny could pick up any instrument and make sense out of it regardless of what Paul was doing.
@@jopisano67 To me, denny laine was similar to steve winwood. 2 very young highly regarded self taught musicans with not so quite different backgrounds. Both could pickup any guitar and tune it to their own preference and give it their own personal sound. Both not wizzard fast players, but on technical grounds they would astound you in minuets with with their excellent tone and abillity
@@toddblanks Gotta give Denny Laine a lot of credit because I do not think Wings would have been as successful as they were without him. I strongly believe McCartney knew that.
@@jopisano67 Agree. Lets not forget young jimmy mcculloch who also had a lot to do with the sound before his tragic death. The songs juniors farm & helen wheels that most people forget about i think had a lot to do with jimmy. Another extreme talent who certainly gave the band some spark, as after his death one can tell some of the wings sound was gone. Ultimately denny & jimmys playing fused together very nicely as you can hear on wings over america album/live shows.👐🤓
Very sad news. Saw Wings in 1975 - it remains one of the most amazing highlights of my life. Denny on the twin neck guitar was masterful. That damned instrument must've been so heavy every night. Thank you Denny for putting up with Paul for so many years.
@@seattlewa8500 Yes - that was pretty much the same show I saw in Sydney in 75. I think Australia was the warm up for that tour. Great night. I have never forgotten any detail from it. Paul has kept elements of that show in his tours ever since.
Fabulous artist One of my faves Moody blues And The Phenomenal Band Wings Who if you hadn’t seen it Conquered the World And became massive Fabulous music band singers Denny was a great Man Kept his feet on the ground Sorry Denny You Better go now You will Be missed kid 😢❤
Not THE lead singer of the Moody Blues, but the first lead singer, he was with them for the GoNow single and while they opened for the Beatles on 1965 tour, The first classic Moodies album would follow about 18-20 months later. I would say opening for the Beatles was really the apex of his career before he formed Wings with Paul. Was always cool that McCartney would let Denny take center stage for Go Now.
I saw Denny in the early sixties at my local youth club in Wednesbury. His group "Denny Laine and the Diplomats" wore black leather and after the show I went into the dressing for autographs, I remember steam coming off the whole group. God bless and RIP to Denny and his family>
God Bless Denny Laine’s Wife…. I took care of my lovely wife, Lynn for six years. Lynn was bed bound and like Mrs Laine said it was an honor and a labor of love. I miss you Lynn. I hope to see you soon in Heaven by Grace through Faith. I miss talking to you and touching and seeing you and your wonderful laugh and smile. You were the best wife ever. I will always love you.
So sad to hear of Dennys passing, such a great musician I had tremendous respect for. He helped me learn guitar with his book Denny Laines guitar book in early 1980s. Always a massive fan of both Wings and Moodies and was cool he was the link
I loved watching him with Wings. The whole group had a chilled and happy vibe with each other and I bet Denny contributed to this with his humour.. His harmony's with Paul were perfect along with his guitar playing. He seemed very happy when he was with Wings and he will be missed dearly. R.I.P
Denny Laine, R.I.P. I remember hearing him sing "Go Now" with the Moody Blues, with Paul and Linda McCartney and Wings, when they went on their World Tour, and on Channel 13 PBS, on what I believe was a British Invasion Concert Show. He sang, "Go Now," and he sounded great and lost nothing over the years! And I also remember that when the other members of Wings were leaving the group he was the most loyal and stayed!
RIP Denny Lane; I loved your "Denny Laine Guitar Book; and one of my most favorite albums Wings Over America- you made that band amazing loved what you all did
The only person paul has a lasting musical relationship with now is ringo :( John, linda, george, and now denny. May they all rest in the peace of the all being Creators arms
@@CB-xr1eg Of course I am . You actually hate a particular song just because it isn't a hip cool rock song ( presumably ) .. You hate it ..and you don't even know why ? If you did , you would elaborate , but you won't ...because you can't . That's just sad ...like Denny's death really
@@CaptainDarrickDid I say I don't know why? I described it as "sappy" and a "droning racket". I think that's descriptive enough. It doesn't deserve more than that. To think that the same man wrote For No-One, Let It Be, Maybe I'm Amazed, and the Band On the Run album. Difficult to believe.
A true and faithfull friend and member of the MooDy BLues & winGS.Stood by Paul & Linda on the BanD on the Run ALbum when other had left over disagreements.
Great bloke….good looking hero…you’ve got to be really good to work with Paul…polish his star ,and give his regards to broad street..he deserves to have a song created in his memory..he lived his life like a telecaster in the wind.and it seems to me..never knowing what to cling to when the broad street street tram comes in…I would’ve liked to know you.but I was just a kid, your candles burned out long before your legend ever will..
Rip in peace Denny, merci pour les Moody blues and Wings !!!. Why why Denny never near with Paul's last tour 1989-2023 ???. Just for one song?. A real shame !!!!😢
There must be a lot of Bilstonians who have managed to live to a similar age as Denny that remember him and the Diplomats at the Town Hall in the early 60's. What a legacy to leave us with such great memories.
He lived to be 79, had a wonderful life. I liked, Go Now. I liked his opening guitar licks on, Band on the Run. If he was a Christian, you have no need to worry about where Denny is.
