This game is so confusing. From his opponent blundering THRICE in the span of 4 moves to Morphy ... also playing like trash.
sub for mor :)

Morphy was maybe the GOAT given how quickly he moved compared to his opponents (according to all the books). If he had had someone like Magnus or Kasparov or Fischer to push him who knows what heights he may have reached? And did he make mistakes in this game or was he simply confident about which moves his opponent was going to make next?

My problem with many Morphy games is that many of them are missing a piece which essentially makes it not chess but rather a variant.

There is a hint that you can compete OTB in Spain which would be lovely. Love watching your videos!

He's already competing in the Seville tournament. Round 2 today. Would be great if we could get some coverage.

@@eadwig7566 I get the reason why he isn't streaming. The Ciudad de Sevilla open has only 14 DGT Boards so its rare for Zach to get in the top 20 or something to get 1 of those DGT boards to play.

Yeah, I'm hoping he does well enough to get at least one game in on those top boards. He won his first game and I believe drew a 2300 FM in the second. Round 3 was against a 1500 so I expect a W there too and another high rated opponent in Round 4 today@@SlasherPlayzonthetop

Yea he won the 3rd round so he's now paired with Sebastian Romero Romero with a rating of 2100 on board 20.@@eadwig7566

The thing with Paul morphy is: nobody knows how good he really was because he didn't play really strong competition that is rated in terms of Elo or at least have players how play modern chess principles
@josephgorgol9045

Morphy was toying with this guy, but even though many of his opponents weren't that good, you can tell Morphy was a chess genius. His vision and creativity were pure brilliance and if alive today he would mop the floor with anyone.

Paul Morphy would have crushed the narrator of this video so the critique here is kind of moot. Also, Morphy did not always make the "best" move on purpose, because he was better than the best move.
