Paul admits that he didn't bother learning anything about the Four Fucking Horsemen, but when Ole said he wasn't that familiar with Paul's work, Roma flips a fucking gasket. Unbelievable.
Man he can talk some bullshit. Why the fuck would ANYONE ask Paul Roma if they should bring in Hogan? Crazy. In his mind he was also working as an executive at TBS WHILE doing all those jobs wrestling?
people like you have zero comprehension skills. It was probably an offhand conversation. Nothing he said implied he was contending Bischoff was "consulting" with him.
IF this is true, I'm guessing Eric mentioned it to Paul because Paul obviously knew Hogan from WWF. But I find it hard to believe that Eric specifically asked Paul what he thought about it -- It was probably just more of a "Hey guys FYI we're working on bringing Hogan in" as opposed to a "Hey Paul, just between you & me, what do you think about me bringing Hogan in?"
I remember one match with Paul Roma when he jumped from The Ring floor onto the ring apron from a standing position! Even as a young kid I thought that was super human
Very solid worker, good look but always booked as a lower midcarder. He did what he was told and always performed well. I never understood the hate he's had over the years. Power and Glory with a big push could have been something truly special.
i think it might have something to do with him saying things about wrestler's wives. That's a big no no topic just like in the mafia. The families stay out of it. Saying hbk's wife slept with the whole locker room when she was a nitro girl before they got married is a tasteless and bitter thing to say, even if its true which I don't know if it is
Why didn't Arn and Ric raise hell and tell WCW that they're not re-forming the Four Horsemen without Tully Blanchard? Paul Roma simply did not belong in the Four Horsemen.
@justinp5661 Watch Flair's shoot interview from 2008. He said that he blocked Tully's return in 1993 because he didn't think it was right that Tully was being offered more money than Arn. He said that he told WCW brass that if Tully was paid more than Arn, then he (Flair) would walk. WCW rescinded their original offer to Tully and offered him $500/appearance instead. Tully told them where to stick it and that was that
I said the same thing. He would’ve been perfect in that role then in the Attitude Era just being himself, tough Italian guy with a boxing background. Like a Bob Holly type
In all fairness, Horsemen as" faces" sucked no matter WHO was in the lineup. The Horsemen with Roma as a HEEL would've worked better. They should've gotten Tully. If not then used Orndorff.
@@MovieEnvy That failed drug test was in 1989. We're talking about 1993 here. In 1993, WCW was in talks again with Tully about bringing him back. This time, it was Ric Flair who blocked Tully's return. Flair said so in that 2008 Highspots shoot interview. Flair let WCW know that he didn't think it was right that they were offering Tully more money than Arn Anderson. Flair even threatened to quit over it. WCW went back to Tully and told him they were withdrawing the original offer and would be paying him $500 per appearance instead which was an insult. Needless to say, Tully told them where they could stick it and the negotiations fell through. Imagine how the people felt when they expected Tully Blanchard to appear and got Paul Roma instead. Hell, Flair didn't even like Roma - never thought he was good enough to be a Horseman. Flair didn't pick Roma for the Horsemen. The office did and Flair was stuck with him.
I will give Roma this much. He probably had the best drop kick I have ever seen, and the elbow drop from the top rope he gave to Alex Wright when he went into business for himself was spectacular. He is still a bit full of himself, but to be a professional wrestler it tends to help if you have that mindset.
Eric Bischoff was burying/neglecting the 4 Horsemen even if Tully came back. Eric did some wonderful things but failed in one big category - knowing the NWA demographics. Paul Roma was one of the nicest guys ever and a great talent.
Paul Roma was a total a** for “going into business for himself” in his match against Alex Wright at Superbrawl 5. Alex Wright was a rookie, still learning to the business, and he counted on Roma to work professionally. Worse yet, after Roma was fired for screwing up his match a Superbrawl, Wright had to suffer through 5 more matches with Roma, where he could have been badly injured by an angry or indifferent Roma.
In my professional opinion, Paul Roma had so much charisma. It was a great move for him to go to WCW. WCW did more with Paul then the WWF. In addition, Paul Roma should have had his own faction. He certainly was a great heel.
Its actually funny that you said that, cause Paul Roma even called himself a jabroni on here when he was talking about a situation between him and Koko B. Wear.
Roma was fun to watch wrestle, had great moves and entertaining matches. You are one of them stupid marks that judges a wrestler based of his win/loss record more so than how they can entertain.
so my takeaways Paul Roma was keyed in on personnel decisions? Ric Flair (1000x heavyweight champ) was jealous of no-time champion (until he joined the horseman) Paul Roma?
Back to real life now. We’re talking about women here. Roma was better looking than Flair. So going into a bar I could see women looking at Roma rather than Flair.
Paul was good as a tag guy. Power and Glory were a great heel team. Pretty Wonderful with Orndorff were another one. Him in the Horsemen made no sense at all.
It’s a lot of back and forth on Paul Roma being a horseman. I get WCW didn’t really have a lot of options it’s not like Vader or Alex Wright could be a horseman 😂
Roma had every opportunity to get a great push but he was lazy out of the dressing room and had little respect from the back. At best he was mid level talent. He acts like he was top talent?
As much talent in the business Paul Roma had, he unfortunately was errornesly booked as a Horsemen in WCW. Paul Orndorff would have been a better fit as a Horsemen.
Pro wrestler usually just means pro liar, unfortunately. They used to be trained to lie all day, every day. Like policemen, spew whatever story you need to serve your current purpose.
best example for a to big ego. he is a nobody but feel like the greatest. i allways got for facts and i do it good that way all the time. fact is, all the dudes he hate made it to legends and he is just a joke.
The funny thing is, Ric was still only 44 years old back then! As a kid watching him around that time, I was sure he was in his 60s. Of course I couldn't appreciate at that time, that he could move and had stamina, but boy, he looked old af! And Arn - Arn was only 35 years old when Paul Roma joined! Imagine that! I don't mind wrestlers being if all shapes and sizes, I think it should be like that, because if everyone looked like a Roman statue, it would get pretty boring. But boy, did they look old and out of shape (Flair actually was in shape, but until he flexed his biceps, it was kind of hard to see..of course, his cardio was good) for their age! When I was a kid, everybody who only watched wrestling occasionally, referred to Ric Flair as "the old guy with the flabby chest".
@@petegallows5494I can remember seeing Flair as kid for the first time when he came to WWF (we had a weird cable company that didn’t carry TBS so I didn’t watch WCW). I pretty much thought he he same thing about him subconsciously thinking that he was obviously in shape but something was off, later concluding it was his flab in random places. Luckily for him he could still wrestle his ass off so alot of fans were able to overlook it.
Roma does make me laugh..Altho I'm not sure he'd laugh when seeing when I was laughing... He was a good wrestler for sure, but he's not exactly Buff bagwell when comparing the two regarding the ladies attention. He does contradict himself a little when talking about homework ..
This dude loses a lot of credibility for being in the business for a minute (even in the WWE/WWF) and not know about the 4 Horseman. Shame Shame. I can't even buy his expertise on knowing it was a bad idea to bring Hogan into the WCW.
Show any girl you know a pic of Flair in 1993 and Roma in 1993 and ask them who they would go with I guarantee you 99.9% won't pick Flair Most women who go to bars aren't wrestling marks, I quite believe on common sense alone Paul is being truthful there
@@drexlspivey5828lair was jealous because he’s in competition at all times. However, show them Flair’s lifestyle/prestige and show them Roma’s… 99% would choose Flair. Custom suits, rolexes, great times, nice cars and etc… The swag is what gets the girls
LOL, if you cant comprehend that roma was a top tier good looking guy back then I don't know what to tell you Forrest. Roma could have been a movie star or a model with his looks.
