I think you guys may have brushed over Wrobleski. Dodgers have churned out a lot of promising arms over the last couple years but this guy has a shot to be the best. Fastball that can tough 98 with great extension. Rivals River Ryan for the best athlete in the system.
Why is Fangraphs so low on Connor Norby? All the dude does is rake in AAA. I know he doesn't play a premier position, but if you can hit like he can why does it matter?
A succesful sabermetric-focused baseball program must accomplish ONE of these things listed below- or else otherwise it is simply a mislabeled and purposefully confusing fantasy baseball show which should definitely be labeled "Fantasy Baseball" moving forward. Anyways... 1) spur an interest in math within the reader/listener 2) spur an interest in understanding the components which go into a team playing winning baseball 3) spur a reevaluation and/or recontextualization of some aspect of baseball history 4) be generally thought provoking and/or eye-opening 5) the show having some sort of light script and/or structure
You guys need to be understand that I care about this show succeeding- or more specifically- I would rather this show be good content rather than bad content. And right now- unfortunately- this show appears more an exercise in mediocrity rather than a display of enlightened meditations on ball.
This show doesn't explain why someone who likes baseball should care about statistics AND/or it doesnt explain why someone who likes statistics should care about sports 👆👆👆
@@joett84 The bottom line is that very often when authors and podcasters discuss sabermetrics these discussions lack STRUCTURE. Sabermetrics isn't a genre of anything. Sabermetrics is simply a tool- therefore a discussion of sabermetrics if done poorly is straight terrible content my guy. Period. Therefore the study of analytics needs to be incorporated into a larger study of the perceived mysteries and disagreements that exist in this great game of baseball. You see my friend that's literally what those good sabermetrics essays you clearly avoid reading are ABOUT.
The two things all sabermetricians need to understand is: 1) it is a far easier route to reach success in this game of baseball- either as manager or player or media-member or fanciful enthusiast by NOT employing the use of sabermetrics. Being a successful sabermetrician means having to provide endless context and countless abstract theories while also necessitating the author/host be a kick-ass writer to add the flowery prose to what is essentially endless math. Bill James achieved this tho I was never a big fan of most of his ideas like at all in any way LOL 2) The absolute biggest lie that has constantly been repeated in the baseball industry over the last 20+ years is that being a sabermetric guy somehow makes running a baseball team easier- ALONG WITH a similar lie that being a saberemetrician somehow makes someone a better or more vital or more serious baseball writer OR media member OR player OR poscaster. This is all complete bullshit
ALCANTARA. There is a whole ass letter in the name that white people refuse to pronounce. AWL-KAHN-TAR-UH. Not AWL-CONTRA There's an A between the T and the R. TAR. Come on.
@@Alesistx2023 Why do you think being born in a country determines your race? His parents are German. And I'm not confident. Which is why I'd try to learn how to pronounce it if I needed to do it regularly, rather than just confidently plod forward without ever thinking about it.
@@brianontiveros-kersch2412Race ≠ nationality. Tell your right-wing nationalist friends. Love, a brown American. (P.S. In case you haven’t noticed, Eno has trouble pronouncing names, regardless of their origin. Every time he pronounces Megill as “MAY-gill,” I cringe a little. When Arjun Nimmala, my fellow Telugu-American, eventually makes the majors, I’m waiting for Eno-and you, and essentially everyone who isn’t Indian-to screw up his name. Except Keith Law, because I politely corrected him and now he says it right.)
As far as I know the only common theme for all the episodes is that there are statistical deep dives on players. Pause. My question is: for the sake of what ???? Much love. Chill
