There is a very simple reason why Jonesy is the absolute best "interviewer". He doesn't interview anyone. He just talks with people. Like they were in his living room.

Its good to see Paul give a relaxed non scripted interview without his bag of lines. A few show up but he seems humble and real here. The magic of Jonesy

I’m not a Kiss fan but they’ve done some cracking tunes over the years and without doubt I admire the hard work they did, I do enjoy listening to Paul talking about his musical influences he always comes across as a very articulate intelligent bloke, and his rendition of soul classics is very enjoyable.

Never been a Kiss fan but this guy makes me want to explore them. Beyond the character persona he seems articulate, intelligent and humble and obviously a music fan. What a great interview and what a nice guy.

The guy loves music. That;s why he's great. That's how you know real musicians when they speak. Talking music is exciting and you can see the light come on in their eyes.

Appreciate that Steve Marriott gets the love here. The best singer there ever was.

I wore the grooves out of my KISS ALIVE double album! I'm ten minutes older than dirt now but when I hear some Kiss tunes, for a brief, shining moment, I am young again

Humility comes with age. Good for him. What I really do like about Stanley is his love of rock and its roots. He's a forever fan, first.

First of all , I was impressed that Paul knew so much about the UK music scene and secondly, just what a nice, decent and sincere guy he is. Credit to him also that he deflected the "toilet humor" to keep the interview decent

Never seen any interviews of Paul, but seems like a smart, respectful, humble guy. Well done, you survived the pitfalls of Rock and Roll.

I listen to this interview about once a year. This is probably the best Paul Stanley interview. Very few of the usual questions and even when they're asked the laid back feel makes them sound different. Seeing Paul this laid back is refreshing.

Paul is a very brilliant man. He's very smart, and knowledgeable, on all topics. So nice KISS gives generosity to our Veterans. They need alot of help. Plus he donates money, to the firefighters. Love Paul, he's a great song writer, and singer. Plus a great Author too. His books are very interesting. I never knew he owns 21 restaurants. I'd love to eat at one. What a great interview. I was never a KISS fan, but I have to give them much credit for sticking together for such a long time, and still pleasing their fans with tours. Many bands just don't last this long.

Destroyer by Kiss was a favourite when I was a youngster. Soon after, I heard Never Mind The Bollocks & probably wouldn't have admitted to ever liking Kiss. Now that I am old and wise, I love both bands & recognize that they are not as different from each other as I once thought. Great interview with 2 legends!

I've seen Kiss in the 80s many times, and Paul was a beast of a singer. That's how I like to remember his greatness, not the End of The Road tour.

I was in a band in the 90s. We had so much fun but, looking back, we did almost everything wrong. Getting signed to a label made us think we knew more than we did. I regret all we did wrong but you learn and get better at life, keep going.

Was a HUGE KISS fan once upon a time, but it's all business, and has been for a LONG time. He sounds laid back and humble here, I agree. But it's about BRAND and BRANDING, and NO ONE knows that better than PS and GS.

Paul Stanley discusses his love for Roy Wood. It seems to be a common theme in rock music where fans of a particular group will love those artists, while disrepecting, or just plain not caring, about the artists who influenced their idols. I tell people all the time: have an open-mind about music and understand why your hero loves their heroes. They may just become your heroes, too

Paul is the reason that kiss is still around in the late 80’s and even into 1990 Gene was worried more about making movies then being in a band and Paul really took the band by the horns and made sure that they were were still moving forward and although he was not happy with all of the results having to fill in for Gene when he was not there to record new material or shoot sn interview or redo some of his takes for the new album Paul did what he had to to keep the band relevant and run the day to day operations when he could have said screw it I have my Millions I will just kick back until Gene wants to hold up his end! He knew the best thing was to keep moving forward fill in what gapes needed to be filled and write and produce as many songs by his self to complete the next record. By the time it came to make Revenge Gene was back and n Knew he had blown it and as a band they all put there heart and soul into Revenge which is my favorite album and. Huge hit for kids Putting them back on top again. Paul says it best Gene make’s Paul better and Paul makes Gene better and together they are unstoppable!

Gene does play the disco sounding bass in I Was Made For Loving You. Listening to the song realizing it's not a synth gives it more cred.

Wow, really enjoyed this interview!

This is a great interview. It's a cool one cause back in the day, you were either a Kiss fan or a Pistols fan, and it was like an undeclared war between the two factions of fans. It wasn't until around '85 or so when it was ok to like both scenes, and we can thank bands like Metallica, DRI, COC, Raw Power, Slayer, Anthrax and many others for that. I was a huge Kiss fan back in the mid to late 70's, then aroound 77 - 78 I heard Never Mind The Bollocks.....and was very impressed. Then I saw the Ramones on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert and was blown away at how they sounded. After reading for a year or so prior to hearing those 2 bands how the punk bands were just noise and spitting and vomiting, I thought just the opposite, they were great, guitar based rock and roll bands who had just as much to offer as the hard rock bands of the time. I remember seeing an interview with Joe Perry who was one of the hard rock guys who "got it" when the punk bands showed up and took it the right way and wasn't threatened by the punk bands but rather saw it for what it was, a reaction against the bloated rock scene of the time and not a direct attack on all bands from that era. And now, 40 years on, here's 2 of the more iconic figures from each scene having a chat on Steve Jones' radio show.....really cool. Cheers to both of them for changing my life for the better all those years ago.

We, the folks, say, two naturals who master the art of communication - swell chatting.

Yeah, Ace & Peter were there when you made it big. I'm old enough to remember that.

Even though a lot of these questions have been asked of Paul a lot of times, Jonesy seems to have a genuine friendly curiosity so it comes off interesting and not tired.

I'm not some blind KISS maniac who obsesses over the band. Over the years, I've seen the original lineup, the no makeup lineup with Kulick, and the new band with Tommy & Eric. The original lineup show was incredible (the re-union tour) - I was definitely seeing KISS in all it's glory. The no-makeup show in Philly was only about half-full, (this was when they has the big Sphinx head as a set backdrop) but they definitely rocked, and I still felt that I was seeing KISS doing something different. The new band, which I saw here in Japan - for me it was not great and not something I'd pay for again, not trying to diss them but that's how it was for me. With all that said, I give Gene and Paul total respect for their 40+ year career. I appreciate them and wish them the best going forward. Final thought: ACE !!! Fkn Ace baby, that's where the soul of KISS is!!! Ace is one of the coolest MF'ers in Rock, he's up there close to Keith Richards territory as a Rock n' Roller. I really hope KISS find a way to get him back in the boots, I'd pay a LOT to see that. Ace is doing better than ever, check out some of his recent interviews. And if they bring Peter out for a few tunes that would be great! But let Eric Singer power the show from behind the kit.

Paul is a really intelligent and well spoken humble guy. Wrote some great iconic songs. Its cool these guys are still kicking it in their 60's. Also a real Patriot.

Great interview. What a whirlwind those early years must have been for the four guys. The characters and the stage show were a brilliant idea. It took quite a work ethic to keep that band in business all these years. Took a lot of guts for Paul and Gene to walk away from a record deal to form Kiss.

Paul has an intelligent, humble, interesting tone of voice. He is not a donkey.
