Me and my mates used to go drinking in Wakefield in the 80s. I never heard of Sykes at the time. Thank god I never bumped into him. He was probably in prison most of the decade hence why we never had the misfortune of encountering him.

Saw a documentary about Paul Skyes. The way he treated his parents and wife and kids was vile. He had brains because of all the courses he did in prison. Pity he did not learn to treat people. Drink was his problem.
