Started playing/watching disc golf summer 2021. The first ever live disc golf I watched was the final round of 2021 Worlds. Favorite players are Sexton, McBeth, Lizotte, and Ulibarri.

I never like Ricky until I met him, I thought of him as villain, then I met Paul and Rick and Paul was super Standoffish and Ricky was so awesome. Ricky fan for life now.

I'm a new fan (started playing in 2021) and Paul's my favorite player by far. How he handled 2021 Worlds made me root for him all of last year and I'm glad he won #6. I think he has personality, it's just more understated than some.

I could see people finding Ricky more relatable. Ricky does the skins matches and seems more active on social media. The perception is that Paul is too good for the skins matches, but he's probably just busy doing other things.

When I got into disc golf, I was a Paul fan who did not like Ricky at all especially after the verbal dust up at 2016 worlds. However, over time now that Ricky hasn't loosened up I find him to be much more enjoyable and entertaining that Paul. I still like Paul though, so I just like watching them push each other.

Gen-X'er in the HOUSE!!! Big Ricky fan, and love to see him beat Paul. Like Rick Flair said, "if you wanna be the best, ya gotta beat the best! Woo!!" I didn't start out a Ricky fan, and started out with Simon (still huge Simon fan), but Ricky won me over seeing him at tournaments, and how he reacts with the Fans. I'll have to say some of the Paul fans are a little over the top sometimes.

I bagged some 4 claws that’s I found on a shelf at a local retailer for stock price. I felt nothing and still feel nothing. Frisbees are meant to be thrown. I have a ton of discs I have collected. But I feel nothing throwing them as well.

Started watching and playing 2021. Calvin is my favorite player by far

It's largely the same audience watching both and my guess is Rick has a bit of a socially awkward vibe that live coverage enhances while Paul has the standard stoic/professional golfer vibe that live sports viewers are accustom to. Where as Ricky has potentially more highlights and general excitement that is enhanced by post produced while Paul is consistent in the professional and potentially more boring vibe in post produced coverage.

I’m def with Trevor, I think the disc collectors market is going to explode, especially as the sport just keeps getting bigger. I wonder when we will have a company who grades discs’ condition like they do for trading cards.

I played in a tournament with a older guy and he had book shelves in an room filled with discs like a library. And he had 3 whole shelf's of proto destroyers

Don't overlook the fact that Paul was the villain in the greatest sports moment of all time in disc golf. The world was rooting against him in that moment, and cheered his loss like no other loss in disc golf history.

I enjoy watching Paul more than Ricky. He's way more smooth in his shots, and those straight shots are a thing of beauty. Rick is becoming harder to watch, but more so because of his caddie. I appreciate how excited she is, but hearing her yell after every single shot gets old quick.

Hate to say it….but you guys are slightly misunderstanding the numbers. The numbers don’t correlate to a negative correlation, they just say that someone is less likely to follow Paul based on their preference or a meet and greet than because of how pleasing his form is for example. That doesn’t mean they didn’t like meeting Paul or that they don’t like Ricks form. That’s just not the reason they follow them. Correlation is not causation oldest rule in the book when it comes to studies such as this one. But I understand it’s an interesting conversation and still very interesting thoughts!

I like post produced because it’s easy to watch during school

Kawhi Leonard literally moved with Paul George to the Clippers without ANYONE knowing. Disc Golf is an astronomically smaller sport with way less coverage. Players could easily keep these secrets if they wanted. It’s simple. Just don’t tell anyone.

Ive had interactions with both Paul and Ricky during practice rounds and during tournaments: very similar experiences. Laid back during the practice. All business during their rounds. Didn't get a bad vibe from either of them.

Follow up question about the Breezy Bag. If someone is playing in snow, and puts there snow covered disc in the bag, can the bag drain the melted water? If so, great idea for us winter weather disc golfers

I was just thinking about how I didn’t buy a sky rider because I figured manufacturers had caught on to making discs in bulk, and now the sky riders are worth at least double retail if not triple if you got a good stamp. But that was when discmania was suffering from production issues so who knows.

No one mentioned why Trevor would need to go on Shark Tank and talk about profits with this app when it wouldn’t need much money at all and it wouldn’t make any profit if it’s just an app lol. It’s not a bad idea though!

Hunter, the company with tech in their discs you're thinking of is Tosy. IMO they're not discs that you replace your bag with, they're specialty discs you use when you're doing field work just to gather useful data.

I’m a fan of Paul and Ricky. I’m just curious as to why Paul never appears in Jomez putting videos, or skin matches or hardly on any other disc golf channels. Not that he is required to. But just unsure why he’s not more active across the disc golf world? I know he is busy with the foundation as well, so I understand he has a lot going on as well. Just curious

If you think disc golf collecting is insane, the bourbon market is even more ridiculous. Imagine collecting a product that takes 10 years to catch up to demand and you get bottles flipping for thousands over retail that haven’t been opened.

How about this: Overmold discs, but with player customizable and interchangeable rims so that you can swap in rims with different levels of wear depending on the shot or to keep those OS discs beefy with a fresh rim, all in a matter of seconds. Comes in many vibrant color combos to that you can swap depending on the terrain of your course (dense woods, bright open field, orange/brown leaf fall rounds, etc). PDGA approval pending. Modeled after your favorite big brand molds so they will feel familiar in your hand. Switch Discs, coming to you 2024. 😂

The 5 claw release was more plain and also was less produced than the 4 claw overall because that is when the COVID shortages started to hit. Numbers don't always determine value. The 6 will be more sought after than the 5s that one will forever be the forgotten run

I know quite a few people with expired PDGA membership that still play in league and doubles events. They also definitely follow professional disc golf. I think they just got tired of obsessing over ratings? Not sure. Mostly these are older guys. Just saying that the audience is larger than just the active members for sure.

Paul’s fandom group? It’s all the new people fan boying over the “best” player bc it makes them feel cool when their player wins. Rocky W has continuously proven to be the best disc golfer over the last few years. Ricky is the most consistent top player out there

Paul and Rick have almost the same number of DGPT/NT/A tier wins. Around 70. The thing that distinguishes McBeth is majors. 17 to 6. Paul has 6 majors since Rick won his last - plus 3 other very close calls. Rick will win more tournaments going forward

I don't mind watching Rick or Paul play but neither are in my top 5 of players I like to watch on coverage. They are amazing players but I don't find them exciting to watch

Trevor was attempting to highlight an important point that just because ricks numbers for post produced supporters are higher only reflects they are higher compared to his other supporters. It doesn’t reflect that his numbers are higher for fans of post produced coverage than Paul’s. Across the board Paul was likely higher in almost every category even if Rick gets closer when you view it from certain demographics.

If the PDGA offered a lifetime one time payment for membership I'd probably join, and I've been playing for close to 5 years and haven't joined basically because I don't want to part with the dough year after year ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I don't even plan on competing but I would like the number

Does Drew want to be media or a player? That is the main difference. You don’t see players leaking news on Twitter about other players in any other league.

I really hate the term “leak” when applied to you guys or Drew. They’re reporting what they’re told. Fair enough, Drew sliding into the DM’s then saying he’s gonna tweet it out is kinda bad form but he really didn’t do anything but announce the announcement video.

I always knew these guys dipiction of who fans like was completely out of touch and outdated. It's funny hearing Trevor's head spin trying to cope and deny the results of the polling. They started a company with Paul and work in a discraft echo chamber. Of course they speak of Paul like he's the second coming of Christ. They've always acted like Rick is irrelevant, when on the course, leagues, tournaments, etc. everybody rooting for Rick. It's not like people don't like Paul because he's "quiet"either, it's because he's kind of a douche. Paul has mentioned several times that if he weren't a pro disc golfer he'd be a pro baseball player but he believed at a young age he could "make a difference in disc golf" lol sure dude. And I'm gonna be an astronaut. Rick has been #1 for 78 out of the past 80 weeks but of course, they never mention that. He's been MVP the past 2 seasons when disc golf has had the most parody the sport has seen. They're in a bubble

I’m not sure why as a disc golf podcast, as little info as there actually is for our sport. You discredit/don’t want to talk about silver series. Seems crazy to me as someone who enjoys your content and watches all the disc golf put on DGPT or you tube.

well one of the things with Paul and his likeability is that he doesn't do any of the fan favorite fun stuff. How many times has he been on GK pro skins? Didn't he skip the All Star event? Has he even been on any of the Jomez stuff like the putting game? Or on any of the big pod casts? He just doesn't seem that approachable to me. He's a great ambassador of the sport and his foundation is fantastic! Just not much of a personality.
