I got lucky though my neighborhood didn’t have the mob presence and the violence as Brooklyn. I was out there hustling bookmaking and loan sharking too But thank god I got away from that. Now I’m just working and living trying to enjoy a stress free life. It’s the best. Little Georgie is a little dapper don lol. All of you italian kids were handsome and carried yourselves well. I remember when i was in the Navy, i think the ship i was on was at pier 5 in Brooklyn Navy Yard. I was in Bayridge brooklyn on liberty with a couple friends from the ship from there. Danny Desena and Ben Schiavi. I'm older than you so you probably don't know them. Anyway, i got to have dinner with their families, meet guys and girls in that neighborhood and it was great. I bought a tshirt that said Brooklyn on it lol. It's the only part i got to see and visit. Did you ever hang out there? This was in 1978 and i know the area i was in was an italian neighborhood. Like now, alot of areas because of gentrification have changed. Kind of sad as with the change, homes becoming air bnb's, families moving out can no longer afford the taxes etc, the entire place loses it's ethnic charm and history. East Boston and parts of the North end of Boston still have primarily Italian people and stores and shops but it's becoming gentrified as well. What are we going to do? I don't know, i lived everywhere growing up, dad was a lifer in the Navy and decided to raise my family in Maine where my mom was from. So glad i did. Virtually no crime or bullshit like whats happening in our major cities today. It's like a world away from that and i've become a nature lover, fishing, hunting, gardening, playing guitar of course and Maine is great because we have the ocean, mountains, lakes etc. Winters are cold but it's worth the trade off. Good job on this one Jimmy. I love all the old pics. I wish i had pics from my youth, noone took any back then, i have a few polaroid remember those lol. You are lucky to have so many with you and your friends back then. Nowadays we all have thousands of pics in our phones and they just get lost etc. I'll stop rambling. Too much espresso. I love these pics. They really show how young all of you guys were. Your life and the life of your friends and enemys would make a terrific movie. I can't think of any gangster movie that literally focuses on kids growing up doing crimes for the older wise guys. They obviously used all of you either waving that button carrot or just the fact knowing you kids looked up to them and would do anything for them. That's all changed now.

Hey Jimmy, I can see how emotional you get when you discuss your friends who have passed, especially Paulie G. It’s pretty clear how much you love your friends and your pain over losing them, especially at such a young age. You said it best Jim, “the streets will never love you back”, and the streets certainly didn’t love your poor friends back. Unfortunately, there are no do overs in life and we have no control over our past, but we do have control over the future, and you’re honoring your parents, and your deceased friends by doing what you’re doing. Keep spreading your message, and you will definitely save the lives of kids who might have otherwise have gone astray, and either gotten killed or sent to prison for life. Think of all the pain and sorrow you will spare families. Much love and respect to you always Jimmy.

I'm glad that you turned your life around, Jimmy, and I appreciate the fact that you're now speaking out against organized crime, but I need to point out something, and I promise you I'm not vying for attention or stirring shit up: there's no question that you knew Paulie Gulino more than we'll ever know, but are you sure he's in Heaven? Paulie may have killed for his friends, not the friends themselves like Joey Calco and Tommy Reynolds, who ironically and cowardly shot Paulie G in the back of his head when he was grabbing them something to drink from the fridge, but he still killed people even if they weren't completely innocent. Murder is murder. I don't wanna sound harsh, but he ended up having a taste of his own medicine. That's the brutal truth. He was also a drug dealer, wasn't he? I know I'm not perfect, and I don't mean to sound judgmental, but those are misdeeds that may block you from entering Heaven. In fact, those sins may just send you to a kingdom below it. jimmy, i forgot to mention. a year before pedone passed away, i reconnected w him on facebook. spoke w him. we spoke for a while. talked about finbars school, the day camp and public school. us beating the crap out of one another wrestling and so on. john said he missed when i moved. john said to me, im sorry if i ever hurt you, i was only kidding around. i said john its ok, we were kids back then. later on he wasnt too active on facebook. idk what happen. then i found out he passed. wow i was upset.

There should be a movie about you guys & the lifestyle you guys went through, called Bath Avenue. This story about the crew is interesting & I’m into all about the mob & everything during the golden era from the 70’s to the early 90’s. It’s crazy about Paulie G & what happened. Watching that documentary about you guys in bath avenue & you explaining about what happens should be turned into a film, just like the way Donnie Brasco was made. I love everything about the mob & met a few in real life growing up especially meeting Anthony Fat Tony Salerno while he was in front of The Palma Boys Social Club back in 1986

Did the cops just have bad intel at the time that made the paper writers think Paul was already a member and a captain?
