I met Mark Ibold twice. Once at a Battles gig in Central Park and the other in the subway after Sonic Youth played the Apple Store. He was carrying his bass. Very humble unassuming guy. During the Battles gig after I went up to talk to him, he asked me how I recognized him. I said I was a huge fan. After he said he appreciated it, I told him it was a big bummer for me when they broke up because they were so great. His response was that Stephen didn’t need them. He was half joking but the other half was clearly true. Two summers later I would see a reunited Pavement on that same spot.
Wow., Steve has not shaved yet, but he's fronting one of my favorite bands of all time at the infamous Glastonbury! There is hope all you kids out there. Love these fuckers.😅
Remember that they used to throw stones at Pavement because they played after Queens of the Stone Age. Remember that in one of the most badass horror movies of the past years, Green Room, the protagonist says his favourite song is "Sinister Purpose". For me, that closes the circle.
@@ScottishTeeVee I was there in the crowd too, Thanks for posting. first time watching since then. Also queued up to meet them in the signing tent after.
You were lucky to have been there@@stevetamburello Are you going to see them on their upcoming tour? Pavement are actually using video from this channel, as the promotional video for the new tour.
