I am dying from lung cancer. And there has been times where I just wanted to give up and die. But this song helped me immensely to get through. I have had chemo, radiation and immunotherpy. They tell me I shouldn't be here. But I give thanks every morning I wake up. Life is precious, make the most of what you have. Love life, love the people you share it with. Love them with all your heart. Life is short so please, love them

You are so right about loving those precious to you. I lost my husband of 40 yrs to lung cancer. He was so positive it all was shrinking that tumor. But no he passed in 6 months! I’m just lost w/o him, feels like part of me is missing. I don’t think I can stay in this Universe w/o my love, my best friend, father to my children.i just hurt every second of everyday since he passed. So show your love everyday to those you love…. Feel blessed that your still here w/ your loved ones❤

Michael is one of my favorite vocalists ever. This band never sold out, never declined, made beautiful music until they decided they had said their piece and gracefully retired. Preserving their perfect legacy forever. This song has gotten so many people through hard times. This band was a musical blessing.

He's always struck me as a stellar performer and entertainer, but Everybody Hurts brought out something else. Lyrical, musical, wistful - sure - but also fragility and vulnerability. In one breath he's a frightened timid child; in another, he's a survivor. Qualities absolutely required by this song, and qualities delivered to a degree that still gives me chills after all these years. A gift to the people, delivered by a singer who conveys what few others are able to do; he believes what he's singing. That's what makes this so unifying, compelling and priceless.

When I need to cry I listen to this song. My brother who was my best friend ended his life on 2/25/1999. He promised me we’d grow old together. I grieve everyday, but sometimes the tears are stuck, so I turn to this song and I can cry-grieve. Like right now 😰

I also lost my brother to suicide on April 16, 2023. We were very close, and I miss him terribly every day. I also turn to this song over and over when I’m missing him the most and need to cry. Funny how one song can mean so much. I wish you strength.

I remember when this song when I first heard it on the radio. I was in awe! Someone understood. Someone was singing my story. The only words of hope I was hearing. And I did- I hang on. I believed I wasn’t alone. Whenever I hear it many years passed- I am always so very grateful that it exists at all. Thank you. Thank you. ❤❤❤

Sorry for your losses. I had a cousin who took his life ~ but he came from a family of 13 siblings, and I only saw him a few times when he was a toddler. Met up with his siblings on Facebook, including his daughter.

This is just a beautiful song. It’s so different from all the other wonderful REM songs because the band understood that when you’re young and going through hard times you don’t need to have to decipher complex analogies and lyrics. It’s a work of genius for all humanity ❤

Believe me when I say that this is not just a song for young people but also older people as well. Us older folks also go through bad times. I am now in my 60s and am going through a very horrid time . This song is one the songs on my list that I listen to whenever my day starts off bad. Yes, they are only songs, but certain songs lift you up. And bring a glimmer of light in the dark. So... Hold on.

If it wasn't that I received the gift of meditation in the inner light and divine sound, (meditation), by a living master, I would not be here living in this physical plane. Which is full of sorrow, loneliness and every body is hurt not some times but permanently, 36 years have passed by now from receiving that precious gift and have learned to live with no depression and not feeling lonely. Truly this form of meditation is the solution to fight depression. Thank you master sant Thakar singh!

The night is the loneliest time for many people who battle demonds. I have lost friends to mental illness and I have also battled my own depression. Everyone needs to reach out to their friends and ask them if they are ok. I was to caught up in my own head I didn't do that and I regret it. I was lucky that when I was in a really bad place a friend knocked on my door and saved me. Sometimes what is such a simple gesture can make more difference than you could ever imagine xx

The words to this are so true. I remember listening to this 1986 onwards. That was after having the beating of my life by social workers back in 1980. I was age 9 years old turning 10 years old in November that year. I’m now 51yo. But love listening to this. I suggest you Google operation ALMOND 2014 that should explain everything.

A naive young 17 year old was at his first festival. And what an experience it was. Confessed to being in love with someone they'd grown up and getting his heart broken when they said they didn't feel the same. So many experiences in a few days. Looking back that changed me.

My tears wàs holding back the pain. To look at one you love most , hurting. It hurts so much, nothing seem living but the need to hope battles with fear. Lost my religion long ago. Not ready to lose my sanity. So i cried listening and looking at memories painted in time. Guess its okay to feel so hurt and hold on. Thanks so much for this .Love you.
