One of my interests is traditional/primitive skills. Since I was a boy I was fascinated with how much you can accomplish with simple, basic resources.
One night while sitting in a beach restaurant in the Philippines I noticed that the roof was made up of weaved palm leaves and I was very curious where they got it from and how it was made. A quick inquiry with the owner taught me that there is a street in the city were people produce these weaved planks, so the next day I was on my why to learn about this popular building material.
Not only did I learn about the process of making the Pawid but they also gave me some hands one lessons and was super friendly, so friendly in fact that they gave us their scooter and the neighbor took us on a 40 minutes drive into the jungle to see her small village and tribe.
