To put your aversion to the 18 mm to sleep the 18 is Very common in the US originated vehicles true it's not common in the Asian market however some European vehicles also use the 18
Congratulations brother, that is some great finds. I have three near me but only one has "good stuff" The other two mostly have worn out off brand junk. Thanks for sharing your finds.
Back in 2017 My local Home Depot was carrying that 14 oz Stiletto for about the same price. They were close to $100 elsewhere at the time. Snatched one up. Great Hammer. I also own a 12 oz stiletto with a smooth face that is my favorite, as it actually works good for both ilght framing and finish work.
Nice haul Doc! One thing for me with Snap On with a price tag on it at a Pawn Shop I always ask myself what would my dealer sell me that for new? Usually socket sets are half msrp from my dealer, so almost always it's better to just buy from the truck!
As far as tools go my local pawns only carry what i would have thrown out during spring cleaning anyway so i dont bother. And i don't like having to be buzzed through the damn door.
Great stories right there 😁👍 Have you tried car boot sales, garage sales, flea markets or steam rallies for tools? I find quite a few rare and unusual tools at my local car boot sale and very often the seller has no idea as to what they are selling 👍
my concern is wondering if those snap on sockets were stolen and pawned. you can get way more money selling on ebay or locally, and the pawn shop likes to have large profit margins i would assume so they gave some sucker like 60 bucks for the set or sum like that. people can argue its not ethical, but to warranty a tool for someone builds a relationship even if they don't buy many tools from the dealer. that person may want to purchase a scanner or a toolbox from that dealer later on so the dealer looks at the big picture.
It comes down to your relationship I suppose. Doc buys enough full retail overpriced SnapOn tools that his dealer would happily warranty anything he needs. And I think that's great, both parties win, which is what business should be. His dealer would probably say its unethical for Doc not to give him those tools for replacement. This subject does trigger people.
the real question being, legally, "to what is the Snap-on warranty attached to?" the tools, the buyer or the receipt owner? what about gifted tools, roadside finds or family inherited ones? 🙄
I don't own a single titanium item let alone a titanium hammer and I never will. If I was going to though I wouldn't buy that overpriced Chinese Stiletto, I'd get the Vaughan & Bushnell.
Yikes. Someone’s stolen tools they worked hard for. What a shame. Clearly you people don’t work with tools for a living. It is a terrible feeling to go to work and find all your tools gone. Don’t shop at pawn shops. Go to yard sales, garage sales and thrift stores if you need to buy used tools.
If you buy from pawn shops you are either/and/or: a) financing thievery; b) supporting someone's drug habit; c) taking advantage of someone down on their luck; d) supporting an incredibly unethical short-term very-high-interest model of finance, which is one small step away from loan sharking.
