A wonderfull release of the Tiomkin's score, very faithfull to the original recording. I'm a fan of movie musics for decades, and have a special love for this score, owning many recordings of the original soundtrack releases and the David Willcocks reorchestrated version from the 1985 Unicorn KAnchana recorded version, but this one is the best ever rerecorded ! Pax Romana is one of my favourite reel, from this score, such variations in the orchestration, even if the theme is repeated over and over as in Ravel's Bolero, the subtleness is reached in the very rich orchestration! Dialogue of the repeated theme betwin brass (trombones-trumpets) and the horns then the woodwinds is tremendous ! Added the slight add of the various percutions, tambourine, tom-tom, triangle, timpanis, more the non-soloist piano ! The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra is very professionnal, very good and Nick Rain Raine is a genius! I still don't onw this recording but it is a must. Too bad the movie was a fail, but the score is at the pinacle of orginal music for a movie. Just a little comment : I find the tempo a bit too fast!
