I think was the best concepts of all, it really look like subnautica style and I feel like the creator is fan of subnautica and know what Aci was looking for.
I'm the dude that drew the Daikaiju Leviathan and had no idea my work was gonna be in a youtube video! All these kind comments regarding my design made my day haha ☺. I'm glad you all saw that I definitely tried to match the Subnautica art style, its definitely one of my favourite games
I’m curious did you see an uptick in commissions after this video went live a few weeks back? Also how did you find out that your art was featured? Great art I hope you do well and prosper.
As a Subnautica fan, Daikaiju Leviathan easily wins out from the rest. It's simple but effective and fits to the game. There is saying that I like: Better things comes in small packages.
@@claudiodiaz9752 Agreed. If someone could put this creature to reality as mod, I would definitely take it. Besides, I LOVE Leviathans in Subnautica and I have to scan every single one. Yup, I am crazy. XDDD
It's cool, except you could see at most 5% of it at the same time. It's compared to a Seamoth-like submarine, and it's extremely big in that comparison. That's what leads me to believe that.
The 10$ and 100$ were the only artists that actually gave him what he asked for lmao, AND the ten dollar artist gave a great deal for such a great artwork
The guy didn’t really give much of a description of what he wanted. If you give an artist a vague description you’re probably not going to get what you want.
$25 only really needed abilities and the $50 was probably a misunderstanding and did the background and everything but yeah kinda messed up but oh well
@@nativesnaper9842 he couldn’t have been much more clear. He wanted a sea leviathan with a size reference and ability descriptions. What’s not to understand?
@@peabrain6872 It most prodably was one of those weird big balls on the biome crabsquids spawns on, but who knows, it might be even a ghost leviathan from the void...
I’m the guy who drew the Roach, so cool seeing my work featured on your video! As some of you called out the design strays a bit from the Subnautica look but since I was basically given free roam I wanted to create something new and unique. Thanks for the opportunity to work on your design Aci!
Yours was the best imo. I'm surprised something as alien as this was never made by the actual Subnautica devs. It's absolutely terrifying and fascinating. Perfect for the game.
I LOVED the roach, it was genuinely terrifying. I think personally it would have been hard trying to draw something cartoony for that amount of money- but as a concept, even if it wasn't super subnautica-like, it could be tweaked just a little to perfectly check all boxes. I think that flexibility to go in different directions and turn out solid is what makes concept art so good, it is only s concept and could be more developed on eventually to create a good end product :) you definitely did your job great.
I love how the $10 guy did the best by far. He followed everything to a T and is amazingly drawn! He included great ability for the creature and you can really imagine it in the game.
10$ guy tried and completely succeeded 25$ guy put the same effort as the 10$ guy 50$ guy tried but got the wrong message 100$ guy also did very well and I really like it
I honestly think the $25 was way too big if he made it smaller and detailed it a lil more and also put skills and shiet it would have been the best since i feel like it does fit into the game very well just like the $10
The third Leviathan could have tons of potential lore-wise. Called something along the lines of the “Sea Wanderer”, it could be one of the first rough drafts for the Warper, created by the Precursors as a creature capable of going both on land and swimming around in the sea, killing anything and everything infected with the virus. Although around the size of the warper, the Precursors could not stop it from growing, and becoming more and more destructive. Eventually, they trapped it deep underwater, away from where it could destroy the entire planet.
but why would the precursors make it so human? it looks like it would be dead within hours of swimming into the ocean if Rileys experience is anything to go off.
I genuinely liked all of them, the first one is spot on and looks incredible, the second one i feel could fit the game but would need to scale down, the third one could hold so much lore potential and would seem terrifying but needs a scale-up. and for the last one could work, but just not as a leviathan.
Hey mate, Just sending you a message to let you know that I found one of the time capsules you left in Subnautica from before the pre-release. You asked that whoever found the capsule send you a message, so here I am. Thank you very much for the capsule! Have a good one mate.
7:34 it would look good with centipede like limbs and can be found on the sea floor or swimming a little above it. Camouflage that make it near invisible until it attacks, and maybe it can make certain clicking sounds depending on how close it to you . That would be pretty scary
Honestly the 10$ one looks like an amazing concept for the colossal leviathan skull that you find in the lost river next to the research facility you get the cuddlefish in.
@@ovenmitch4635 I think they're talking about the OTHER huge leviathan that looks like it could have walked the seafloor, but hope they maybe manage to add that in the de-extinction mod
That flashlight idea is actually really cool Imagine swimming in a totally dark place (like void or something) and suddenly you see a bright light amidst the darkness. That’d be thrilling
the roach leviathan would really fit on the crash zone or the dunes ngl, spooky looking and it could come out of the sand and hunt a reaper or something, plus slap any creatures attacking it with its tail or bite em with that creepy face.
It would be so cool if there was a scripted event where a reaper could come charging at you from nowhere only to get snatched up like 20 meters away from you after brushing against what looked like some flora by the leviathan before retreating back into the sand. Would be really cool to teach the player, “that plant right there might not be what it seems”
The second leviathan really got me thinking. The long tentacle bits on the tail can whip out and attach to the submarine and drag the player closer to its mandibles, and I was thinking it could screech really loudly it shakes the submarine and shuts down power putting you and the creature in complete darkness for like 5 seconds for it to open it's eyes and bite down.
Oh god, the 2nd leviathan would be TERRIFYING. Imagine you're going through the void, you turn on a light on your submarine and you see that large face.
Imagine you are voyaging around the ocean in your cyclops and all of a sudden you hear a clicking sound getting closer, you turn on the the lights and see this creature that is gigantic with mandibles and no arms right in front of you. I'd have a heart attack before it had the chance to kill me.
I almost see the Mantis Shrimp with the 4th Leviathan. Imagine it punching the water, creating eddies and cavitation bubbles disrupting your submarine control, or pouncing out of a wall/ more enclosed late game area in Subnautica.
I think the $20 one was really good. It was snakelike, which fits Subnautica’s fauna. Also the teeth, mouth, and eyes are fitting as well. But it was a bit humanoid, and I kinda thought that was cool, it’s fits the Below Zero stuff, so I feel like this creature could somewhere in the void halfway between our tropical world of the first Subnautica and halfway to Below Zero’s chilled waters.
@@minestar2247 I mean they couldn't have taken 30seconds to google it? The $25 is one thing. That isn't a ton to spend. The $50 guy though should have at least done a quick search. He would have quickly seen that he was completely wrong.
You've made it a several hundred thousand meters into the void when everything goes quietly, then you hear a low hum, you turn on the lights of your ship and you see its face staring back at you
The giant humanoid walking around on the sea floor could honestly be terrifying. And it kinda looks like it has a seem on the chest, like it’s actually a biped wearing a fishes skin
My order: 1-4-2-3 The first is in subnautica style and this is why I like it the most. The fourth looks good but is not in subnautica style, it still is good. The second isn't finished. The third sucks xD
10 USD, really cool with a good description and abilities, definitely fits the Subnautica style and I feel like the person who made it has seen the game before. 25 USD, cool design with a unique kind of creature, I think the person probably not knowing Subnautica makes it really cool and unique, overall great and unique drawing! 50 USD, IF Subnautica had more and bigger land, this would be a great land leviathan, it looks like it's in a cave so maybe in a cave underwater it would be walking around, really neat design and is probably what someone who hasn't seen Subnautica would think about when they hear "leviathan" 95 USD, really cool design that could lurk on the ocean floor, I do think it fits the Subnautica style and it looks really old, I also like that it's blind and lives with sound, great design. So overall, all are pretty great! Edit: I just saw his comment and turns out the 1st guy does know Subnautica, nice!
The 50 dollar one looks like it would fit really good into World of Warcraft in a place like Nazjatar, definitely not really in the style of Subnautica though!
$10 - 1st, $100 - 2nd, $25 - 3rd, $50 - hard pass. Cool idea for a video by the way, wish it hadn’t cost you so much just for the cheapest to be your favourite though. I’d say “do it again!”, but honestly you don’t have to. Keep up the good work.
this is a accurate tier list i could defo see 1 in below zero (orca colors) and the roach that can be in either subnatica 25 was cool but a bit too big and we dont talk about 50 dollers
I would have a hard pass on any but the first. Especially the 3rd. The face looks like a completely different art style from the rest of the piece. I hate that.
For the second one: I believe it would probably roam in either the mountains, dunes, or the crash zone. If it was the latter it would be around the back of the auroura. It would screetch, which not only would terrify the player but also confuse the reapers which inhabit the same biomes as it. I think it could probably just swallow a cyclops whole, considering the relative scale.
2 ideas for creatures 1. mountain worms, they spawn on the islands and live in the ground, occasionally jumping at the player to take a bite 2. mimics, the creature would try to mimic the player's shape and colors. it would then use something similar to the mesmer where it would lure you in via hallucinations
The 25 dollar guy number 2 has the ability to grab your sub with its tail and crush it it would also be able to swallow anything whole as it would be the new void creature
I can imagine the leviathan with a human like body with no arms and a tail using it's tail to smack the living daylight out of the cyclops and grabbing it with it's mouth doing 75 damage and the tail smack could do 25 damage
The $10 one is my favorite and it reminds me of the bone shark. The $25 one is a pretty cool concept. The $50 one got the wrong message but still reminds me of the warper. The $100 one is my 2nd favorite and it really reminds me of the sea treader.
The second one should be able to go almost invisible and should be able to cover the area of 100 metres around them with a corrosive poison and the organs are snake like , in nature it would also be able to dig through the see floor at high speeds and pop at of nowhere
$50 the watcher Whenever you get close ur pda says "you are being watched..." Attack: kind of like the reaper. Grabs you with one hand then punches whatever you are in.
“You are being watched....” -pda You spin, knowing ones near. Looking in to the dark, you complete your 360. You look up and see nothing but darkness, as your 500 meters down. You look down and you see movement. .Then, with faint, glowing eyes you see a figure rising. You turn, with fear in every fabric of your body, powering up your seaglide in an attempt to escape, but its to late. You feel its cold hands close around you and squeeze, and you sigh deep inside that you’ll have to return. Perhaps in the next life you’ll have better luck.
A little idea for a land liviathin is :the coast: it has a island on it back that you can go on but be careful it can make a little earthquake ability and because of that there will be bolders coming down to crash on you and has a ear piercing screech that attracts other lavaiathins to come after you and won’t stop the screeching until you get off
I dont have an ability for $25 scetch one but since it looks like a warper, what if the death animation is it making a portal in front of you that warps you into its mouth. Just there wide open waiting to eat you
This was a fantastic idea for a video, very well done! For the second drawing, which I actually really liked (though the Daikaiju was absolutely the best), I have no idea r.e a name, but I have thoughts for abilities. I feel like the second that thing catches you in it's gaze, your batteries for whatever sub, seamoth, seaglide, whatever, just start DROPPING. It leeches the energy away. Something about the way it's looking in the drawing makes me think of a parasitic gaze. When you know this thing's around, either try to escape before it turns around to get you in its sights, or ABANDON SHIP and swim away as fast as you can. Or better be ready with lots of spare batteries!! This would also force players to utilise things like cover and increase the fear factor exponentially, especially if you are in an unfamiliar Biome and are scrambling to find cover!
The second looks like it could be a Unique Leviathan, like, the only one of his kind and probably the smartest off all, it doesnt look TOO dangerous, but would live deep, deep in the void because of it sizes, and would just roam around eating whatever a void-leviathan would eat
The second one could be something sinister, not as in it's a dangerous creature that could tear your ship in half, but rather something that is intelligent as well, and that would be the reason that it is terryfing. Maybe it could mimic sounds or "sing" just something that hasn't been done so far. Maybe it helped the Aurora to get torn to pieces? It heard those sounds and the screams and knows that you are one of them. Just imagine hearing distant fire alarm noises or people screaming in agony and when you go there expecting survivors it would just emerge in front of you...the terror it would give me lol
That first one seems like a leviathan that will be docile as long as you dont get too close to bother it, making scanning as difficult as a normal Leviathan or Ampeel.
8:41 The Siren Leviathan Abilities- When hunting, it's a very quiet creature. It can sense humans or the Precursors and in doing so, the Siren begins to sing to lure them in. This creature would be very sentient Attacks- Can swipe at you with its large hands, or open its chest in which it eats the player. Hostility level- 9 (very dangerous) Size- About as big as the Gargantuan Leviathan so about 1500 meters
The third one would be able to move really fast and be able to brute force it’s way through sea walls and it would be able to blend into walls or coral reefs and use its squid like head to attract unsuspecting fish or other animals near it to eat
The last one could work, maybe add some bioluminescent organs or lights to the antenna, maybe some "hairs" to the antenna to disguise them as kelp, using the antenna "hairs" to catch micro organisms drifting on some currents, or ensnare small creatures, like the Yeti Crab.... Idk, most creatures in Subnautic are bioluminescent.
I think that the leviathan at 6:42 would be cool in a much, much bigger environment. Hear me out, in around a 400-meter range, it'd send out sonar waves that would disorient almost all smaller prey, which would filter out the small creatures, leaving only big ones for it to devour. Additionally, if it spots a big creature to it, it'd send out a *huge*, almost human-sounding screech to basically disable it. It'd be a dirty trick, but I think even your Cyclops would begin to fail, as it charges you and you are helplessly devoured. I think it'd be cool to have a smaller vehicle, a bit bigger than a Seamoth, which would have a sonar-shield upgrade to protect you from the screeching noise, and small and nimble enough for evasive maneuvers.
7:41 some abilities for this creature could be Swimming without making a ripple or current in the water Invisibility Maybe wrapping around things like a Python or a type of Boa A paralyzing roar Able to bury itself in the sand Can call other leviathans of its kind to it for an ambush or attack These are all i could think of-
I think the roach is pretty cool, I’m imagining like a whole “forest” made up by its antennae and you visit for the first time not knowing what they are, so when you brush up against one on accident the roach leviathans burst out of the ground and try to kill you. I think it would be terrifying
For the third humanoid looking leviathian, no idea what I'd call it but seeing how it has a humoid head with eyes and the like, i think some kind of psyonic or psychic mind abilities would fit it quite nicely, seems like it'd fit thematically with the purple background and the like, also seeing how it has legs it might have trouble chasing prey so if it can damage a sub from afar i think it'd make sense. Also seeing how there is some yellow letters, maybe its the artists signature or something but maybe thats a physical manifestation of its telekenetic powers or something, fun spit ball ideas, very cool and creative videos, thank you for making it Aci! Made my day and I might get something on fiverr too seing the quality of these artists drawings
I think the second one kinda looks like a warper, so it might need some kind of really special ability. Maybe something like invisibility, similar to real-life cuttlefish or octopi or squid. It might be able to stay invisible until it’s near its prey, then turn visible since it’s so big.
I just looked up the size comparisons for Subnautica, and the Daikaiju Leviathan (the 1st one) is roughly the same size as a full-grown Sea Emperor. I know Aci says Reaper Leviathan size, but the player is roughly the same size as a reaper's head. With the Daikaiju, the player is slightly bigger than its eye. That second leviathan looks to be about the same size as a Juvenile Gargantuan Leviathan. #3 is... I guess they got "Underwater Monster" and rolled with it. As for the Roach Leviathan... here on soviet world, Shrimp eat you. Also, there's a second Roach Leviathan in the distance there... running into one leviathan is already terrifying... leviathan's the pincer-attack their prey would be a big nope
Honestly the second leviathan's size is terrifying. The submarine it is being compared to appears to be the Atlas Submarine: a vehicle that was in the concept stage during Submautica's development. The Atlas is about twice the size of the cyclops at least. For reference, comparing the cyclops to the Gargantuan Leviathan looks about the same as the Atlas to the 2nd Leviathan here. That would make this leviathan EXTREMELY large, more than likely surpassing the size of the Gargantuan Leviathan by a large amount.
I have been looking at r/subnatica lately and I have an idea for the roach leviathan. Alot of ppl from reddit say that in the mountain biome they typically stay near the ground to avoid reapers so maybe the roach leviathan would spawn there. Idk it was just a thought
I think for the first one the Bioeletrical organs should have more of an EMP effect, it's one one of my favorite effects in the game and it would be cool to have more creatures that have that ability
The third one features a shark in the background, so it appears that this is actually underwater, it just doesn't seem that way due to artistic expression. I think the intent with that was that it would walk along the sea floor.
The dusk leviathan looks like it could ram into a reefback and break its shell than attaching itself to the reefback with its arms and tearing off large amounts of flesh with its mouth,it would detect the reefbacts easily beacause reefbacks are loud
9:17 This guy would fit very well in the Crash Zone. It’s scary enough over there because of the Reaper’s. But imagine this guy camouflaging himself in the sand and you are not aware until…..
For number two, an ability should be to wrap your sub and even your base in its tail and eject you like a warper, maybe even being an artificial being, I would call it the “breaker”
about what you said about not being close to the sea floor in relation to the roach leviathan, imagine an area like the dead river except with an even lower ceiling, with some kind of brown stringy plant life growing up from the floor. The roach would be perfectly camouflaged and would make for a very tense and dangerous area
that $10 sketch is very underated. the art was spot on. the details was amazing. the concept of a boss was there. the drawing details was implemented perfectly with the skills. it was the most amazing out of all
for the numbers 2 and 4, i can say that they fit the description, while number 3 is out of the concept (fish-like creature), but hls hat coloring is really terifiying.
I think the humanoid Leviathan could be seen as something other than a creature. It could be like the Architects using some sort of "suit" that protects them from the Khara virus to they can make annual checkups on the planet as well as continuing research on the virus itself
The first one (10$) probably is a sea dragon, in a void, and much more mysterious. The last one is probably a massive crab-snake like creature but with the size of it it’d probably destroy a cyclops in one hype
I like the $50 humanoid one! Some ideas is a possible mutated or evolved version of the sapient creatures that used to live on the planet. Its like the "queen" in a way. Possible abilities include telepathic powers, so communication with the Emperor could be possible. Also it can walk on land as well as swim, hence the humanoid legs but what looks like webs under the arms.
Loved the 1st leviathan. Also I have a possible ablilty for the $25 on. Soundsonic - When spotting prey it opens its mouth and emits a hyper sonic sound which stuns it prey long enough to eat it. It can also be used as a form of echolocation in the dark.
concept for 2nd leviathan: since it has no arms, it hunts at the sea floor writhing it’s tail around in the soft sand to unearth the fish and get them in open waters
For the second creature it’s body could give off a EMP that shuts down any electronics including vehicles when it notices the player. It’s eyes glow in the dark and it’s scream lures in lower class leviathan and creatures like the reaper.
Just imagine, you're in some of the deeper parts of the ocean, and suddenly a flashing lights and moving little lights appeared in the distance. Curiosity takes over your common sense as you didn't hear warning or anything from leviathan class creatures from the game. You approached the lights and it seemed to be moving away from you slowly. When suddenly the little lights moved faster as you see glimpses of teeth 3 times the size of your seamoth and before you know it your seamoth is disabled. The creature screamed as it blinds you with it's lights while you tried to escape with your health steadily declining. Before you know it, a spear just skewered your upper half, immediately transporting back to your pod. That Daikaiju Leviathan is the monster that will probably put everybody at bay before going back and try to play the game again.
The giant black and white one I think would fit in the game nice some of the things that i think it would have is a sharp tail that can go through anything but sea emperor and sea dragon armor
The most interesting idea was the DaiKaiju Leviathan. He really did a good job explaining the creature’s traits. I would be so scared if I met one of them because I wouldn’t know how I was going to die, whether I would be electrocuted, blinded, or become a shish-kabob. Maybe all of them. It’s left to the creature’s discretion to decide how they will hunt a specific prey. Maybe this regular observation and choice-making would make it a more intelligent Leviathan. Not bad for $10.
heres how they might work into the game if they were real! (PS, i only did my personal favorites, i basically had no idea for the other two leviathans) Daikaiju leviathan Located/Habitat: Found only during the nighttime, Can be found at The Bulb Zone and The Blood Kelp Zone during the night. (ooo very scari) Ability/Hunting Method: It blends in the dark shallows of the bulb zone, Waiting for its prey. Its hunting tactic is by shining light at its prey temporarily stunning it. If you happen to encounter this beast in a Seamoth/Prawn suit/Cyclops, its light slowly drains your vehicles energy away, giving you less time to escape. Roach leviathan Location/Habitat: 1 found in the Mountains, 1 found in the Dunes, And 1 found in the Mushroom Forest (Total of 3 roach leviathans) Ability/Hunting Method: It hides in the Dark shallows of its Habitat, Waiting for its prey. Once it sees a target, It swiftly charges at the player with haste. This creature will stop at nothing until its prey is swallowed whole. Despite its powerful tactic, It does have one weakness. Light. If there is enough light sources shined at it, This creature emits a loud screech, and retreats back into the Dark waters of its habitat.
The humanoid leviathan looks to have a large shark in the background that might add some size reference. I like the idea of "Ningen leviathan" for it, personally. "Ningen" is just Japanese for "human" and refers to a gigantic aquatic humanoid cryptid that has been spotted around Japan and Antarctica, so the name would probably be rather fitting. The "Roach" leviathan looks a bit too much like the Gulper leviathan, but seems like it could be an interesting mechanic. It would be cool if pinging sonar would trick it into popping up, foiling any attempted ambush. Given it's long tail, and leviathan clues, I could totally see it springing a decent distance to grab your vehicle if you were closer to the floor looking for wrecks or resources.
