Yeah my chair helps my back immeasurably, but too high a keyboard/mouse stand gave me some RSI issues. That said just got an Oculus and basic HOTAS - Actually built a small table for that, measured everything up so it was comfy and it's great.
agree! id rather have a table that is higher than half the height of the chair. (one that is adjustable) so that everything fits so my KNEES aren't on the ground to make me feel comfortable sitting at my short desk.

@@BosSupes Not really when the RGB software has inbuilt temp lighting settings, Problem is not all RGB temp settings use the same color! Example Asus ROG strix cards have green to red lighting based on temp, then say you have a thermeltake AIO CPU cooler that uses blue to red and has the pump and 2 to 3 fans lighting up compared to a tiny part on the GPU so unless your looking at your case or have RGB in your peripheral vision while gaming which is annoying ASF it's really not that great and its certainly not creative :D
The noise of my fans does exactly the same for free. As does any freeware for temperature display. Funny, I have a RGB system too, and glass panels, and the PC is stuck in a PC compartment in a desk, I can't see anything anyway. But muh RGB! Well, I only bought it because that was the cheaper option at the time during sale hunts (Yeah, the parts I was after didn't come in non-RGB variants, how sad is that :/ )
Pro tip, find a commercial office supplier, and look for their outlet store, you won't be disappointed, just bought a $400 "manager's" chair for $100 with a minor scratch on the back.
If I can find my chair’s rating I’m sure it’s under 2hr. $150 racing chair that I got because my good chair of 13 years finally gave up (spring stretched underneath and kept ripping it back on it’s own). It was free too, I was taking tree limbs to the dump and the guy next to me was gonna toss it over into the pit just because it had scratches
@@ryanespinoza7297I love going to my local recycle drop off, and seeing the crazy things people throw out, I got a nearly new wheel barrow out of the dump last year with only a flat tire I fixed with a $5 plug kit. good sliders over simistiff domes IBM keyboards, computers for retro PC builds, music Keyboards, even a couple good 5:4 1280X1024 resolution Sony flat panel monitors(I use one at work for office docs as it's tall shape allows more on screen then a 16:9 monitor). I've yet to find any office chairs worth salvaging though lol!
I have a wheel-chair, it is designed by the medical profession to hold you up to 18 hours a day without any discomfort. AND the wheels lock for using pedals when gaming.
I'd be especially interested in ones that DO NOT HAVE ARMRESTS. Or, at the very least, whose armrests are super easy to remove without affecting the structural integrity or ergonomic design of the chair. Armrests are demonic for actually getting anything done or getting into a solid gaming session.
Yes, you can remove the arms, but you will see the places for the screws. Watch David Zhang review, he explained the good and bad points of this chair. You still have the "Ikea JÄRVFJÄLLET", more expensive but a lot more cleaner imo, some people say that's more comfortable than Markus, other will say Markus it's better. If you can go to a store, and try each chair before you decide. But everyone will say that both chairs are better than any racing car type of chair on a 200>$/€ budget.
I remember when these started becoming popular. Fry's had tons of them, so I tried them out and I couldn't believe how flimsy and uncomfortable they are. That's when I decided they were a gimmick and laugh any time someone brings up wanting one.
I got one to match the color scheme. It made me miss the super comfy office chair with heat pads and a massage function that I used for 5 7-8 years until I moved. It's still at my mom's house but when we moved there, I lost the cord somehow and now it's just a comfy chair...
True lmao Actually high end office chairs are more expensive than "high end" gaming chairs. The difference is that those expensive office chairs pay themselves and your back will thank you haha

I'd like something that had the ergonimics and the general comfort of an office chair with some of the flair of a gaming chair. I actually kinda like how some of them look, but I know full well they're cheaply made, overpriced garbage. But just getting a really good, but bland looking chair doesn't feel right either =/

Yep, I remember those days very well, as I was in high school at that time taking computer network technologies classes at county vocational, and I had brought my computer in to do some work on it in the shop which was a AMD K6-II 400Mhz machine, and I had a classmate who had his rig in as well for service with a Cyrix CPU in it, and after dropping in the 550Mhz K6-II and setting up the FIC board to get it OC to 560Mhz stable on Win 98se, and asked him if want my old CPU, and it dropped right in no issues, and took his little 250Mhz machine to 400Mhz So yeah those days where awesome, but then Intel had to be Intel, and stop playing nicely, and move to the Slot design with a CPU on a card.
Wasn't that time was VERY short lived though? I thought most people only remembers that you could use a wide range of Intel processors but hardly ever this or they say "for a belief amount of time" between Intel/AMD.
dude depending on what you intend to play, you may even just want to buy a old refurbished gaming pc. if you want to buy newer games look at the requirements on the back, overshoot a bit and you should be good.
Couldn't agree more about the chair. I was about to drop $400 on a DX Racer chair, but then I realized I could get a refurbished Herman Miller for $100 more. At the time I figured, "Well I'm gonna be spending a lot of time sitting at my computer, so the extra money will be worth saving my back" I would make the same decision again if need be. My Aeron is sooo comfortable
I got a Vertagear gaming chair 2 or 3 years ago and I thought it was so cool when I first got it. 2 years later and the seat material was cracked and my back would hurt after sitting in it for long periods, even with a break to stand up every hour. I upgrade to a Steelcase Gesture on the same logic "I spend a lot of time in this thing, I shouldn't cheap out on it." It's well worth the price and honestly even cheaper ergonomic solutions would be better than any racing style gaming chair with their utter disregard for comfortable sitting.
I looked at DX racer, didn't really care for how they looked, and i wasn't sure how durable they'd be. Ended up with a noble chair, there really weren't any really good office chairs I could get my hands on (that met my requirement of removable arms.) I live in a pretty small town, online is the only way to get such things. So far it's been great
Water tastes good, but if I had 50 liters at once that would kill me. The point I'm trying to make is that too much is too much, but in the right amounts it can be good.
@@techtime2922 Where My problem comes from is that I work from home, I spend at least 8 hours in the chair per day. And over the last year its been closer to 14 hours per day. Just did this while looking for a new monitor, after my last one from 2014 croaked, by researching the available options online both off the shelf and by post. Finally decided on a Samsung VA panel based monitor from a local store, specifically the Samsung C24F39, instead of another IPS one like I had before. Part of the reason was when I plugged in my VA panel based Samsung TV from 2012 to act as a temporary monitor, the colour and contrast was just so much better. Also, it has the right size, look, and general feature set I'm looking for, such as backwards compatibility with old retro builds with a VGA analogue input to go with the HDMI input, while also coming with newer features, such as flicker free technology and a curved display, at a really good price. EDIT: Just before pulling the trigger on the Samsung, I just found another replacement monitor that I really like the look of, specifically the BENQ GW2470HL, that's currently available from online retailers. However, it does has two HDMI ports to go with the required VGA port instead of just one HDMI port, positive reviews on Amazon UK, and looks to be a generally higher quality monitor than the low cost Samsung, while still being available at around the same price. True, it doesn't have a curved display, or AMD FreeSync. However, the lack of FreeSync doesn't bother me as I'm an nVidia graphics card user, while the curved display is just an optional extra for me that I can easily do without.
I love binge watching your content even if it's not new because of the entertainment value and the knowledge that still holds up today plus these parts are still very relevant in builds. Even though I brought a prebuilt, I added/swapped things. Thank you Jay!
I bought a Herman Miller Embody several years ago. It cost about 1500 €. But in comparison it has a rather special frame, the backrest is simply amazing and it also comes with a full 10 year warranty. I've had to replace both arm rests once (the weakest link of the chair is the plastic locking mechanism for the height adjustment of these, although I propably adjust them more than most). Otherwise it's construction quality is close to perfect, it's very comfortable and it breathes thanks to the floating design. It's a pain to clean though. A very high quality chair, a display of engineering at a price and warranty that a high end product should have. I've also sold and repaired gaming chairs (various brands) and they are, indeed, really, really cheply made. Four typical problems were: bad threads and/or wrong sized screws (both were quite common), a twisted stand (the part with wheels was very often twisted like a propeller), bad welding of the base (the welds were often very shallow and sometimes broke off) and finally bad materials (the base would sometimes just simply crack at random places because of a porous result of bad casting). I've also worked in a foundry as a mechanic so I've seen (and made) some bad welds and casts in my days but nothing got out of the door there in a shape that some of the parts in these chairs seem to be in. Then again, quality control is the first thing to go with cheap stuff. But I viewed it as an investment, maybe for life (if it lasts that long).

Never mentioned, back lighting on the keyboards. Feature or Gimmick? I light the back lighting, since I mostly use the PC at night, and don't want to have the light on, causing and weird screen glaring.
Basic backlighting (wether white or solid colour, RGB acceptable if it is just to give colour option) is a feature, RGB or strobing and he like is gimmick.
@@Kathdath if you use said lighting to show off custom loop, it would be a feature, if you are doing it to test for epilepsy (by keeping it on and annoying your neighbors) then yes, a gimmick. Especially if it is marketed as gaming rgb.
An often overlooked item on chairs is the armrest padding. I cannot stand sitting in a chair for an extended period of time where the armrests are just plastic, or are under-padded. I've gone so far as to take apart armrests and stuff them with memory foam in order to improve their cushion.
The biggest gimmick i've seen is USB, what you really need are serial ports both 9 and 25 pin, parallel, ps/2, and firewire, floppy is also nice but most modern motherboards don't have that so get a usb floppy drive.
There is nothing wrong with RGB if you want it. Some like flashy, some don't. I just wish there were more options for some stuff without it. I personally don't want my computer to light up like a christmas tree. Mine doubles as a HTPC so I want it quiet and dark for when I am watching movies in a dark room. One of the things I like about RGB is the products that change color when something is being taxed. One of my video cards the lighting would turn red when it ramped up. I thought that was kind of cool. The down side was that thing threw off so much light it was like a lamp on my floor and would light up the left side of my room lol. I really like the low key lighting of my 2070 FE card. I would be happy if it had no lights at all honestly. And as far as video cards in general go, choosing one is just mass confusion to me. So many options and you really don't know which one is better unless you can find someone that actually compares the models you are looking at. And then you pray you got a good one. Mother boards, really I am only concerned with if it will support the components I want to use. Does the chipset support everything, does it have all the headers I need, how good is the bios and does it have enough space for what I want to put on it. My current mobo won't let me use a 3 slot video card. Case has plenty of room, but the mother board doesn't. All the plugs for the front panel stuff are in the way. And if you are overclocking with a knob, maybe you shouldn't be overclocking? The older I get the less interest I have in that anyway. Looks great on benchmarks but I have never noticed a real world difference when using it. Other than it becomes less reliable lol. Fancy looking ram I don't get at all. I would rather they spent the money and effort into making better ram, not making it pretty. I am the wrong person to ask about mice, I use a wireless trackball. I will admit it would suck for serious gaming. It isn't real fast, precise or responsive. For what I do though it works well. I don't have a computer desk. My computer runs through my large screen tv and I sit in an easy chair with the trackball on a table next to me.
I’m currently saving up for a gaming pc as I’m sick of consoles at this point. I have never been more confused with researching parts. I’ve never built a pc before and this video has helped clear up some of the confusion
Where they lying though? Some people literally have no clue what they are looking at when buying a router... Seeing that it's compatible with Windows instills confidence in the buyer. Good marketing imo.
i work in an electronics store and i get the "is this windows compatible?" question on everything from routers to monitors to keyboards and printers. Never underestimate the ignorance of the masses.
How about when pendrives where new and you had to check if they where plug and play or if you had to install drivers??? Had one with the Windows logo on the box...
Hey Jay! Loving the video but I would like to throw in my own two cents about gaming mice, I used to buy the cheapest mice I could get when I was younger and as I got more proficient and faster in playing games I found that the sensor became too slow to keep up. So while 150ips is kind of rediculous, there is value in the ips of premium mice.
I hate it when there's not option to turn it off though. I'm not really into having much lighting in my PC case or my peripherals, my keyboard can be backlit when it's dark and that's it. My new GPU though, has a giant "GIGABYTE" logo on it in RGB, which can't be turned off without physically taking out the lights. That annoys me.
I just hate being forced to pay extra for the RGB because they do not include the features needed in a vanilla style motherboard. There used to be more vanilla styled performance oriented motherboards that were relatively low on extra features, but provided excellent value. Now, these boards are extremely crippled with much lower VRM quality and you need to go up 3 tiers of additional RGB and features that wont really be used to get anything decent. I dont hate RGB, but there are plenty of users that arent interested in RGB, and want good performance for a good price.

I bought a 1300w platinum fully modular psu for my first £300 build and So that I never had to purchase another psu for like another 4 builds and I’m now on a £1400 pc and that psu still
Don't buy "gaming" audio gear (headphones etc). You're probably getting ripped off. For not much more one can buy entry-level audiophile-grade headphones.
Depends on how you treat noise/music and the headphones you buy. If you are a casual music listener and treat music like background noise, a pair of audiophile headphones will hardly sound different to a pair of 20 dollar ear buds or 300 dollar Beats. It takes a dedicated listener to appreciate the clarity audiophile headphones deliver. The pair of headphones matter too. Each headphone from reputable brands like Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, or Fostex will sound different and be spec'ed different. If you don't do your research, you'll be dissatisfied that your PC isn't strong enough to run your headphones or the headphones have too much bass or treble for your liking. So before you buy audiophile headphones, actually do some research on the matter so you don't get disappointed by your purchase. Check reputable brands, go to an audio store to try them on, and make a decision.
Couldn't agree more about the chair thing. I have a $150 chair from Staples that I call my poor man's Herman Miller, mesh back and pretty good lumbar support, and it's FAR more comfortable and ergonomic than $500 gaming chairs I've sat in.
