PC to MAC | 1YR LATER | “IT JUST WORKS!” 

I did the same thing! I've been on mac for 2 and a half years though. It was the best decision I ever made. I made the switch to Davinci at the same time as well and I'm much happier with this set up!

I am using basic 14” MacBook Pro with M1 PRO, with 16GB RAM and it’s working smooth. I love it!

I was never that blown away by a new processor like I was when I first used the M1

I’m so happy with the iMac we bought in 2014 that we bought another one 2 years ago. I’ll never buy another Windows machine for the house. I got my first Apple laptop a few months ago and it’s been a game changer too. Like the video says…. It just works. Never crashes. I did find, however, that I like my iMac much more when I am using a Windows mouse and keyboard. I am not a fan of the Apple Keyboard and mouse. And yes we are an all iPhone family. It is wonderful how all the machines work together. I can access anything on my Mac from my iPhone with the native Files app on the iPhone.

Nice to hear Jared. I'm a Mac but currently on a PC after my MacBook Pro died (well sorta because it can be fixed if I buy a part). I bought my Mac in 2012 and it died in 2020. You are correct though they just work. The price is and was ridiculously expensive but having years of service without any of the usual troubles that you get from PC's was well worth the price. I remember getting the best PC at premium pricing and thinking I would get 3 years out of it. Never got more than two max. Planning on replacing after I get over this Canon R5 purchase

I discovered your channel about a year ago, and can remember being disappointed that you were switching to Mac. I'd just started learning Resolve, and was watching a lot of videos about it at the time. Now I'm watching videos about Macs, because the $2000+ Windows laptop I spec'd out to run Resolve is constantly struggling and I need something that works. At first I was looking at building a Windows desktop with an RTX 4080, but after pricing out the parts I realized that I was in Mac Studio/Macbook Pro range. So I started down that road. At present, I'm planning on getting the Mac Studio M2 Max, 1TB and 64Gb RAM... eventually getting a Macbook Air mainly for file transfer while out traveling. It's a struggle though, to wrap my head around Mac after nearly 30 years using a PC. Hopefully the corrupted timelines that are a constant challenge on my PC will be a thing of the past.

I don't really have issues with our PCs. I've got an i7 desktop, and an i7 notebook. My wife has a Surface Book, and a Xeon workstation. My daughter has my old i5 notebook. My daughter's i5 notebook has gotta be 6 or 7 years old now, and it is serving her well. She is in an online high school. My wife is a graphic designer. I built her Xeon workstation and we picked up the Surface Book as an open box. Both are over 5 years old, and she still tells me they are doing fine with Illustrator and Photoshop. I've offered to upgrade her, but she is happy. Would a new system be faster? Sure. Faster enough to make a difference? Not really. My desktop is due for a replacement, but I don't use it enough anymore to make that a priority. So, I don't really count it. It is not used for real work. My notebook is an Asus gaming notebook with an i7 and RTX 2080 Super. It is over 3 years old now. It came with 16GB of ram, which was not enough. I went all in and bumped it up to 64GB, and it has 0 performance issues now. My 1 complaint, and something that caught my attention from this video is the fan noise. I would like to get a new system that can handle the heat without the noise. I looked at the latest Macbook, and I like the 3 Thunderbold ports, as opposed to my single USB C and 3 USB A ports. I would have liked to see at least 1 USB A port on the Mac. I was VERY unhappy to see no numberpad. I use it daily, and while I have a KB at my desk, that would place me at a disadvantage when I was mobile. The 16" screen is OK for the MAC, but I prefer my 17" on the PC, and even wish it was bigger. I don't edit video yet. So, I have no experience with that being an issue. Perhaps that will be factor, but I can't say. I will say that when I do start editing video, I will build a tower to do so rather than use a notebook. Better hardware, and a 10Gb network connection to the NAS would be primary reasons. For now, I use Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, Fusion 360, Lychee Slicer, Prusa Slicer as my main working apps with some other lesser apps thrown in. For Apple products, I do have an iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil, and the pencil sucks. I looked really hard at the Surface vs the iPad, and chose the iPad because I could get cellular service on it. That is great, but the pencil is not the experience I wanted. I have a full time job in Healthcare IT, and have a surface with a Surface Pen. It is night and day different. That Surface Pen is everything I want in a stylus. Feels good to write, has an eraser, the eraser button is programmable to launch different apps with single press, double press or press and hold. Has a real button for the index finger to use as a right mouse button. The Apple Pencil tap feature to change modes does not work as well as it should. The tip is hard and does not feel good when writing. I added a screen protector designed to improve the experience, and while it did, it still is less than desirable. I like the wireless charging for the Apple Pencil, but really the AAAA battery in the Surface Pen lasts a very long time. It has never left me hanging and is a fast replace if it ever did. The Apple Pencil has fallen off and been uncharged before when I needed it. If I find the Surface Pen has fallen off, I just pick it up. I don't hate Apple. I just have great PC experiences, and can easily get the hardware options I want. I could not tell you the last time I had to fix one of our PCs, but if I do, I can tell you that it will be more fixable than a Mac. (except for the Surface devices those are on par with Macs.) I remember having to work on my PCs long ago, but it is not a problem to find or build a stable system that stays that way now. I use my experience in Healthcare IT, not to fix or work on my systems, but to build/spec what is needed, and properly manage them. Treat them right, and they do their job. If I was to upgrade today, I'd likely get an Asus ProArt Studio notebook. It has almost everything I'd put in a notebook if I designed it myself. I really want to get one, but as I said, my 3+ Year old gaming notebook isn't giving me a solid reason to yet. I've been building PCs since '91, and I used to upgrade constantly. Now, I upgrade only when I need to, and don't have anything else to spend money on. Right now, I want a new camera body and that Nikon Plena lens more than I want to replace my notebook. I have no ill feelings to anyone that thinks the complete opposite of this. If we were all the same, there would only be 1 computer, OS, software, and camera that everyone would buy and use.

I'm just about to pull trigger on MacBook pro or MacBook air. Probably pro. I get MacBook performance is still ahead of PC now. However, I'm coming from Microsoft surface pro (my Pro 3 still very solid minus battery life) which I think solves most of Windows issues esp since Windows 10/11) and I actually see that platform as being ultimate if they can get cpu performance / battery combo right, cos is best for all round productivity (I also do software development and design) in a very portable form factor. I also switched to iOS for compatibility. Not that impressed with iOS. Was way more productive with Samsung Notes/Ultra but I had to give it to Apple had better cameras out the box. Def a step of faith going to Apple$ ecosystem when just starting out. But I hear Qualcomm is getting serious about getting a significant piece off Windows pie for mobile devices (goodbye Intel 😊) which will make next few years more fun. If I had to stay Windows def would be on Microsoft surface ecosystem

A healthy cult! Hahaha. Jared, I just can't do it. I have MACs at work and I hate them with a passion. I don't disapprove of MACs/iPhones, they will just never be for me. I will sit in a hot room in my underwear listening to those loud fans while struggling with video editing, because of my hate! I'm kind of like Anakin Skywalker... Dark Side Thoughts...
