Nice to see you listing a section of improvements - the lack of RGB memory seems an oversight - they can hardly claim they are dialing down the RGB for people who hate it in the system
I remembered Leos review of that 7800X3D - did very well at the time, absolutely one of the best processors released in the last 5 years - cant wait to see how they replace that later this year when 3D processors are released
Good system - I never bought from them before but heard a lot of good things about them, even though system builders arent too popular with the enthusiast audience !
I think there'll always be the prebuilt vs build your own argument. Prebuilts are useful for new pc gamers and people with not so much spare time. There are some good prebuilt systems out there for sure
System builders often don’t do it right but that’s the thing. If you read the comments on any system review you will find people who don’t want some of the components and have other options. That’s part of the joys of building your own. I guess.
I have had a PCS system for a few years, its been very good. My friend bought one of their laptops however and he had no end of problems, so results may vary
Built a similar system but went with 5800X3D paired with a 4070 TI Super for about $1,600 CND ( $1200 USD ) Every 1440p game is within the capability of this system. 120 FPS in Remnant II, The First Descendant, Cyberpunk 2077, Dead space remake. The older games I set the FPS limit to 120 and let my GPU cruise at 60% - 80% utilization.
PCSpecialist should have supplied the RGB Corsair memory they sell, would have made it stand out massively. Its a decent price point when you spec it out however
A few issues for me - the black fan at bottom would get my OCD - RGB memory would look so much better and fit the aesthetic of the board as they planned it. the cabling, I can overlook - but I would want a board with Wifi - still, its tough getting all that into the price they are selling it for. CPU and GPU is a great foundation for any gaming rig
The CPU is great for gaming, but its showing its age a little at times - I would only buy this system for gaming, as its slow with serious tasks like CAD or 3D renders
If you had another £300 you could fix this system - rgb fan at bottom, custom cables, RGB memory - and an upgrade to move higher up the board stack. thats a nasty board
That case is great, I dont like the big badge at the front, id rip that off - I get they want publicity, but I hate logos on cases, really annoys me, like laptops with intel stickers all over them
Thanks Mat - seems like a solid build if they made some changes, like RGB memory - and better cabling. Of course this would raise the price, but if they dropped to 1TB SSD - you could add one later
I use my PC for a lot of editing work alongside gaming so I'd probably go for a different CPU. Then a better motherboard too. It's situational I guess - if it were purely a gaming rig, there's not much I'd change.
excellent job Mat - not sure I would buy it but overall there is some attention to detail and effort put into this build, shame on the memory not having RGB like the rest of it, and the cables
I can't get access to this system anywhere on their site, have you a link? This seems like a deal they do for publications - seen it before, if you change one thing like the board, do you lose out?
07:10 £140 for a triple pack? id expect them to do more for me than make me a brew ! fan prices are getting to be so stupid now it makes little sense to me
Very solid review for an equally solid system. I think to get the issues fixed you would likely have not been able to get the 2tb ssd. And most people complain about only 1tb ssd. It’s hard to win sometimes. 🤞🏻
we do try and ask for systems that hit a certain price point or have components that are popular with our audience. at the end of the day we review what PCSpecialist send us, as it's their product that will be on sale for the consumer, but we do try and offer some suggestions as to what we think might be most interesting
Decent. A few things I’d change but it’s to a price. Hard 2k. Pretty sure you can tweak it. I’d try to save up another 200 to change a few things out myself
i got my R7 7800x3D, G SKILL RAM 32 GS, and a ASUS B650E WIFI for 450$usd, with a rtx4070 super and WOW i get almost 200fps on tarkov, that alone says everything..
I like this system overall, not too fussed on the memory not being RGB - however id like a slightly better board than that, heard bad things about it long term
It’s a bit hit and miss for me. They spent a lot of money on rgb and ran out before it was finished. CPU and gpu are both good but the lack of WiFi at 2 grand and a poor choice of board mean I’d give this a miss.
I have Rx 6800 XT and Ryzen 9 7900, Asus mob x670 e e gaming wifi, 32gb Adata xgp 6400 , Deepcool AIO Ls720 360 and Asus Thor 850w PSU. My kids are not complaining in any game, so all is Good so far 😂
@@Everychillitsjustlife-cz8zz yes. Everything runs well. I had am4 R5 5600g, rx580, and yes, it's a big difference. It's not the best but the best I could afford 👍
Mat, you mentioned the board being the poor part of the system, or 'nothing too good' I think you said. If you price this system up from your link do you get a deal, and would you lose the deal?
When you price up the components, they arent asking a lot over retail. of course their margins are better than ours would be. Can you change the motherboard and memory out?
Yes you can change pretty much anything - it will change the price though of course Edit - Apologies, this system spec is not configurable and is set 'as is' for the pricing.
Really clean build and AMD CPU really helps them right now as I can see Intel being a bit of a tainted deal for most people - any updates on Intel failure and chip degradation?
I did the same setup for a streamer when 4070s came out but got better value for £1416 And this was done in norway 😉 Not sure where the overprice went here
shame they didnt go for all AMD in the build - Love the CPU, but would have liked to see an AMD GPU - can you add one in the configurator - their website wont load for me today.
7800X3D + Arctic Liquid Freezer III + ASRock B650M Pro RS WiFi mATX + a fast 2 TB m2 SSD (NV2, Fury Renegade, or KC3000) + XFX Speedster Merc 310 7900 XTX + Montech AIR 903 Base + Corsair RM750e 750W + Arctic P14 PWM PST x5 is ~£1800 and way more powerful and IMO much more aesthetically pleasing (a clean, black sleeper build rather than RGB eye cancer; but if aesthetics is a priority I'd go with another mobo that's darker). Edit: Add an additional £200 and you can go with a 7950X3D and a be quiet! Pure Power 12 M 850W PSU instead (in case you have a dual gaming+production workload).
I like the fact they seem more focused on AMD processor right now. the 7800X3D is a great cpu for the money, but I think it might be hampered by the poor choice of motherboard. could be better
