Wow, what a truly epic episode! It really captured the beauty and majesty of the mountains, but also the real effort it takes to hike through the High Sierras and also the edginess from the actual danger that is out there. So glad that everyone was OK in the rockslide -- and so sorry for the person who had to be airlifted. I can only imagine how disappointing that was.
Thank you for the wonderful videos of the trail. They are really great. Your lighter packing system is the best. I have only done from Tuolumne Meadows to Red's Meadows. Have done North to South lake through Evolution valley. Have done from Kearsarge pass to Whitney and to Horseshoe Meadows over Cotton wood pass. I want to do more of the JMT. The high sierras are spectacular. I would like to do from Kennedy Meadows to near Cottonwood pass area. June snow and lots of mosquitoes are normal for the sierras. The melting snow makes lots of ponds and pools for the mosquitoes to multiply. A bug head net is very small and light. DEET really works. I put a bandana into a baggie with a few drops of DEET. Just the smell of DEET keeps the bugs away. You don't have to drench yourself in DEET. Wendy
I really, really loved this vlog, the scenery, the music (24:36) and you commentary were highly enjoyable! I hope your fellow hiker is mended by now and back on trail, you had some pretty dramatic events happening to you in this round!
We so appreciate that we get to see you just being you. Thanks for letting us experience the joy and the sorrow with you. Life is truly best when shared! Loved the great scenery and the music was awesome! It be cool to see a playlist in the description. That way we can support anybody the Indie artists you introduce to us. Looking forward to next week already. Keep up the great effort!
Hi there, just love your channel!! So happy everyone’s ok. Praying for your friend that had to leave trail that she has a full and quick recovery. Stay safe out there and thank you for your videos and the time you put into them and love the music your choosing. Blessing on all of you.
Please stay safe sweetheart. Wow my heart was pounding when you were talking about the rocks coming down. Not something that's easy to avoid. Glad your all safe. Loving your vlogs.
You always have a smile on your face and an awesome attitude while hiking! Thanks for sharing your adventure with us and we look forward to next weeks vlog! Stay safe out there. 🙏
Another amazing video you guys! Gorgeous Sierra footage and a reminder of the dangers that exist out there. So glad everyone made it through the rock fall unscathed. 🌻💛
that rock slide sounded very scary. Glad everyone was ok. sure is a reminder that things can change in an instant. beautiful views and lakes! sorry about your friend with the ankle injury. Love your attitude. I know that thru hiking is not easy
Looks spectacular; reminds me of when I backpacked in Desolation Wilderness as a kid a few times. The stark contrast of emerald water against the blinding granite ... it's hard to put into words. You and Dixie and Kelly Hays, all you camping vloggers inspire me to get back out there and do a section. I mean, I really don't take advantage of the Sierra Nevada. Maybe start at Tuolumne Meadows and head south on the PCT, something like that. I need Pine trees and granite in my life badly.
Safe journey all of you as you can see tragedy takes only seconds.. bummer about your friend that's where boots come in w/ankle protection even though shoes are great (depends on the terrain)
I hear you Ariel, like I said before you have to keep them Pearly whites clean… every Opportunity I got on trail I would swim or clean my ass some how lol… ur the only girl on the hiking videos I keep up with that’s still going STRONG, the other 2 gave it up for one reason or another… Hike on Girly
I notice one of your tramily had the 450 bear canister (which is the one I have) - was this enough room for your longer food carries? Thanks so much! - Chica
We must have met somewhere between Pinchot and Mather Pass (me Mather 6/11, Pinchot 6/12, going sobo) :) - When did you pass the Daley family with their 3 toddlers? I met them in the evening of 6/9 south of Muir Pass. - Evolution Creek was a bit higher when I forded around noon, but apparently warmer - I enjoyed taking a full dip and doing a bit of laundry
I think you handled yourself well. Controlling your fear unfortunately means being exposed to things that scare you and that's really not any fun. I work as a courier and I've got two million miles under my belt. I have learned to do a few things anytime I experience a dangerous situation. Maybe they can be useful to you. First is self talk. I tell myself out loud that it's going to be ok. Your body needs to hear this; your body releases a ton of adrenaline and cortisol. Depending on how your fight or fight reactions work, it'll begin the process of calming your nerves. Second is that I like to hum. The vagus nerve runs right behind your vocal cords and a soothing hum helps keep your nervous system in check. Third is I get myself to a safe spot, turn off any distractions and breathe slow and deep. You do yoga so I'm sure you've got plenty of breathing exercises you can do. 20 minutes usually works for me. Also, if this still bothers you after some time, talk to a therapist. Ptsd is no joke. Near death experiences can really cause some problems. I hope this is helpful, stay safe. Also thanks for the videos, they're super epic.
Hi, your videos are great! However your giving trail reports that are technically a month old.... your saying it’s June 10th in the video but the video came out on July 25th.... a lot can change in over a month in the Sierras.... ✌🏻
They are for people who are planning trips in future years. that way they can look up the snowpack on the date of my video and compare it to the snowpack levels on the date of the year they are attempting the trail/section to see how the levels compare and what they might expect at that level. If people are hiking this year there are better resources for current conditions than RU-vid vlogs since most will be delayed at least a little. ☺️
(note to editor) Too bad we can NEVER hear the water and the wind and the birds and feel the quietness of the mountains because of the constant loud music. I don't get why there's so much music. It robs the mood. What put it into your mind to do this. I have to fast forward through it all. The audience misses out on all that experience because you robed us of it. I really doubt I can take much more of it. Too bad because the actual recording of this trip by Arielle was GREAT. I wonder if she did this entire hike with ear buds blasting this noise into her brain the entire time.
Do u always have to hike beside so many people? I think I'd hate that. Besides i snore real loud and so does my dog. I wouldn't want to have my tent one foot from other tents. I mean how do you do anything. I'd want some privacy. I don't want to hear others move and fart and burp and masturbste. I'd be going there to get away from people.
